Arthur is an interesting villain and Rise should’ve explored him more. Especially because he’s a type of villain that isn’t that common in fiction and even rarer in Beyblade specifically

Arthur’s ultimate goal is to be seen as a sort of god amongst men. This is a fairly common trope, but the way Arthur executes it is what’s unique. With these types of characters, when you prove that they can be defeated, they break down (Phi after his loss at the end of Turbo. Damian in Metal Masters. And many examples outside of Beyblade)

Arthur doesn’t do the same. When he first loses to Dante, he keeps his composure and goes to his office. In his office, he starts breaking things, but he waited until there was no one watching. He does the same after his loss to Delta. He stays calm in the final arc despite losing repeatedly because there was an audience. When Inferno is ultimately defeated, he falls to his knees and stays silent. The closest he gets to showing anger is when he confronts Gwyn (”What happened to ‘Genesis doesn’t lose?’”), which he does in private

Arthur is so convinced he will win eventually that even when everything he built up comes crashing down, he still cares about putting up a stoic facade. Internally, he’s going “I lost today. But I will rebuild tomorrow and try again.” Arthur’s apparent stoicism is needed to achieve his goal of being seen as an unwavering god, and the only time he displays emotions in public is when he needs to incite fear in others (mainly by mocking those he defeats as fools who dared defy him). Arthur feels no fear or regret for anything because he thinks it will all work out in the end (because he’s in denial about not being invincible)
