Take your jewellery out!

Having a lazy, stuffy day at home? Feel like you need to get out and get some fresh air? Your jewellery needs this too. So this weekend, take your jewellery out from their boxes and give it some fresh air!

Most of us don’t bother clearing out our jewellery boxes and mostly end up picking earrings and necklaces on the surface or in the top drawer. Cleaning out your jewellery boxes not only ‘airs out’ your accessories but also gives you an opportunity to clean and dust up those old forgotten diamond earrings and necklaces that’s been buried at the bottom. Remember to be extra careful while cleaning precious jewellery like diamonds and gold; use a very soft cloth or toothbrush and gently clean out the dirt. Don’t use harmful solutions such as bleach and chlorine to clean as they will dull the sparkle and may damage the piece. While cleaning you may also find that one of your bracelets is missing a stone or an earring with a loose screw. Keep them aside to get them mended to make them look brand new again!

Before repacking or rearranging the jewellery back in their boxes, make sure to clean and dust the boxes and pouches thoroughly. The most important thing to remember is to keep the boxes as well as the jewellery completely dry before packing it. Moisture is the reason for tarnish and moisture in the box or on the jewellery causes it to tarnish quickly and lose its lustre. A useful tip is to keep a piece of chalk in the jewellery box, as chalk helps absorb any moisture, although one must remember to replace the chalk every few months.

Doing a thorough clean of your jewellery may even lead you to find some accessories that you thought you’d lost or completely forgotten about! Replace some of your old, overused necklaces, chains or rings with these glittering beauties. It’ll give you a change from your usual accessories and maybe you’ll find a perfect pair of forgotten earrings to go with that new outfit of yours!

So take some time off this weekend and take your jewellery out, give it some oxygen and love! Clean it carefully and bring back its sparkle and lustre.

Ariana Grande has replaced her engagement ring from ex Pete Davidson with a diamond friendship rock shared by seven members of her clique.

The ‘God is a Woman’ singer recently split from her SNL comedian fiancé – who proposed to her in April just four weeks after they started dating – and now, the star has been spotted wearing new bling on her wedding finger, which she revealed matches other rings worn by her close pals.

Ariana first posted a picture on Sunday (18.11.18) via social media of her wearing the rock and captioned the snap with the lyrics of her new track ‘Thank U, Next’, leaving fans speculating about the new piece of jewellery, she wrote: “…. n I’m so good with that.”

The ‘No Tears Left to Cry’ hitmaker also uploaded a short video to her social media confirming the friendship jewellery as she tagged her besties, Njomza and Alexa Luria, and wrote “3/7” alongside the snap of the three’s bling.

Ariana previously hit out at her failed engagement when she commented on an Instagram post that linked to an article listing ’13 tips and tricks for finding the perfect engagement ring’.

She simply posted: “Don’t (sic)”

Shortly after the 25-year-old singer split from the ‘Saturday Night Live’ star, it was revealed she had returned the $93,000 pear-shaped diamond ring to Pete with “no struggle” and was “quick to fork it over”.

Jennifer Lopez, Alex Rodriguez Went Engagement Ring Shopping?

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez went engagement ring shopping earlier this month, according to one of this week’s tabloids. But Gossip Cop has learned the claim is inaccurate. A Lopez confidante tells us it’s “not true.”

Life & Style, which has published an embarrassing number of provably untrue stories about Rodriguez and Lopez, now maintains the former baseball player took the singer to Cartier in Miami on November 2 to help find the right engagement ring. A so-called “source” is quoted by the magazine as saying Lopez joined Rodriguez at the high-end jewelry store because “he’s terrified of picking out the wrong ring.” The same unidentified tipster asserts Lopez is “incredibly picky” when it comes to her bling, most especially her “engagement rings,” which have to be “flawless.”

And that’s pretty much the extent of the article’s reporting. It fills the rest of its piece out with how Lopez has been engaged a handful of times, and that she released a song in April titled “El Anillo,” which means “The Ring.” Glaringly, however, the tabloid has no proof whatsoever that Rodriguez recently bought her an engagement ring.

While the publication put price tags (albeit wrong) on rings Ben Affleck and Marc Anthony gave the singer, it doesn’t offer any details about how much or the cut of the diamond Rodriguez allegedly chose for a “picky” Lopez. Simply, it’s because they didn’t go engagement ring shopping that day at Cartier. A source close to Lopez assures us on the condition of anonymity that the magazine’s story is “not true.”

As noted above, that hardly surprises Gossip Cop, which has repeatedly exposed the tabloid for printing falsehoods about the couple. In March 2017, for example, we busted the outlet for its cover story that exclaimed, “J. Lo & A-Rod: Wedding & A Baby!” In that obviously wrong report, the outlet contended its supposed “source” had learned they were going to “be married by the summer [of 2017]” on a beach in Cuba and “adopt [a baby] from Puerto Rico, where she has family, or the Dominican Republic, where Alex’s family is from.”

Two months after that disastrous article, Gossip Cop corrected the magazine after it splashed on yet another cover how Lopez was pregnant with Rodriguez’s baby boy. In that misfire, another one of the tabloid’s alleged sources claimed shortly after Lopez found out she was expecting a “miracle baby,” she began designing a baseball-themed nursery. The seemingly made-up insider noted Lopez decided “their wedding can wait,” and while she was “not showing yet,” she was “super excited about having [Rodriguez’s] son.”

This past April, Gossip Cop nailed the outlet again when it incorrectly asserted on another cover that Lopez was pregnant and expecting twins with Rodriguez. Once more, the tabloid had no legitimate evidence to support it bogus narrative. Much like its past articles about Lopez, the latest one about her and Rodriguez recently shopping for a diamond doesn’t ring true either.

A decision to break into the South End home of a man whom he felt owed him money, ransack parts of it and leave with about $14,000 in jewelry, as well as alcohol and food, will cost Todd McVey more than a year in jail.

I’m not getting any younger. I know I have a lot of good years of hard work left in me. I just want to get out and get on with my life.”

McVey pleaded guilty to three charges – uttering a forged cheque, breach of probation and break, enter and theft.

Ontario Court Justice J.G. Lebel recommended the time could be served at either the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre in Sault Ste. Marie or a correctional facility in Thunder Bay, both of which offer treatment for substance abuse.

Lebel, who accepted a joint sentencing submission from the Crown and defence lawyer Denis Michel, also issued a one-year probation order, 10-year weapons ban, and a DNA order.

The probation order includes conditions that McVey not have any contact with the South End man whose home he broke into or a man whose name was on a blank cheque that McVey forged and attempted to cash in May, and that he take recommended counselling, treatment or programs for substance abuse.

The 385 days of jail time, Michel told the court, will allow McVey to get out in time for his daughter’s wedding in 2019 and also earn some money in the construction field before winter sets in.

The court heard that on April 20, a Regent Street home was broken into and two laptop computers and loose change were taken. In June, the homeowner noticed several unauthorized withdrawals from his bank account and he discovered that a book of blank cheques had also been taken in the break-in.

Through the assistance of Money Mart on Elm Street, security video showed McVey had attempted to cash one of the cheques on May 12 for $460. The cheque was not cashed as staff had suspicions about it.

McVey was on a probation order at the time.

Then on Sept. 20, McVey broke into an Edgewater Road home by damaging a basement window. The break-in prompted the home’s security system to sound, but McVey smashed the speaker. McVey then ransacked the master bedroom taking jewelry, including engagement rings worth about $14,000.

McVey then went into the kitchen and stole food. In the basement, McVey found whiskey, which he also took. All of the items were packed into a backpack McVey found.

A neighbour saw McVey leaving the home and running into the bush. A Greater Sudbury Police canine track was conducted, but McVey was arrested when he was spotted down the road. All the stolen items were recovered.

Michel said McVey knew the owner of the Edgewater Road home.

“It was a business relationship, but did not go well,” explained the lawyer. “There was a belief Mr. McVey was owed some money. He took the wrong steps to do that.”

Michel said McVey has struggled with substance abuse in the past and had spent some time at the Camillus Centre in Elliot Lake in 2016, but a relationship fell apart not long after he completed his stay and he turned back to using cocaine and speed.

“He has taken control of that,” said the lawyer. “It is the drugs that got him into issues.”

Lebel told McVey that breaking into a man’s home to settle a perceived debt was wrong.

“That’s not the way to go and deal with debt,” said the judge. “Fortunately, all of the property was returned.”
