Solution to use Japanese dictionary romaji effectively & quickly
Romaji is the “Latinization of Japanese”. If you are reading this post, you know Romaji. Basically, it uses the English alphabet, and while there are some fun rules for using it when writing in Japanese, it actually speaks for itself.
It is possible to separate “Romaji” into two parts. “Roma” (ロ ー マ) is “Rome” in Japanese. “Ji” (字) means “character”. Combined, we get ロ ー マ 字, which means “Latin characters”.
Tumblr media
But, actually, there’s no need to learn Romaji, because: first, it’s not useful for learning Japanese, at least for long-term study, and secondly, basically You already know it. For example some common words like:
Karate, sake, sumo, sushi, sashimi, bento, etc.
The above is also Japanese, only it is written in Latin characters.

But if you want to study intensively, you should study hiragana, katakana, and kanji seriously. And Romaji doesn’t help you much when you intend to study intensive Japanese. Japanese dictionary romaji only helps you from being surprised when you start to learn Japanese.
Japanese dictionary romaji helps you solve difficulties when you are faced with those very strange letters when you just start learning the language. So don’t overdo them if you don’t want to be able to write or read Japanese after you finish studying.
Moreover, Japanese dictionary romaji only helps you to speak and communicate with Japanese people, but when you write romaji, Japanese people absolutely cannot understand what you are writing. Therefore, never overdo them.
If you really want to be able to read and write Japanese very well or in other words you want to study intensive Japanese seriously to be able to take the test, then the first thing you need to do is avoid the romaji.

The Japanese government uses Hepburn-type Romaji, but other mainstream organizations such as ANSI or ISO propose the Romaji Kunreishiki style. The textbooks did not agree on the consistent pronunciation of Romaji, so they were all confusing and unorganized.

Say NO to English to Japanese character dictionary without pronunciation!
Why do dictionaries need pronunciation of words?
You know the words but can not read
Read the word in the wrong way
Difficulties in communication with native speakers
The Japanese character dictionary without pronunciation is much more “dangerous” than you imagine. When you are unable to pronounce correctly, you will say words incorrectly so that the listener will not understand what you are saying and you also cannot understand what they are saying to you.
Tumblr media
Firstly, make a first impression
Pronunciation is definitely the first thing for people to assess your Japanese ability. When you talk to a person, he or she doesn’t notice the vocabulary or speech errors you make. But they will immediately recognize if your pronunciation is good or bad. If your pronunciation is poor, they will think your Japanese is not good.
See more: Japanese character Dictionary
Second, this is the most important part of communication
Pronunciation should be the first thing you must learn when you want to speak Japanese. You can use simple words to say what you want to say. Similarly, simple grammatical structures also help you express all the ideas you want to present in communication. As for pronunciation, there is no simple pronunciation concept, if you pronounce it badly then it is not good. And the consequence of poor pronunciation is that no one understands you.
A lot of people have good vocabulary and grammar, but communicating with foreigners is still a disaster. Every time someone says a question, he/she has to ask it again and again. What? What? What? Then they have to repeat the sentence to make sure the other person says so.
Third, do you think you can speak Japanese?
Many people say: “I don’t need to learn pronunciation. I just want to communicate in Japanese”. Because they think they can learn Japanese right away because they can communicate with teachers and other students.
That is wrong! You must remember that:
Perhaps your teacher has been listening to non-standard Japanese for many years. They can understand it easily compared to native speakers.
Other students in the classroom will speak Japanese like you and they make the same mistakes. Therefore, students can easily understand each other.
To assess exactly how good your pronunciation is, talk to native speakers. Unfortunately, if you think that you can communicate well only from being able to talk to teachers and classmates, when talking to foreigners, they are very difficult to understand you.
See more: Japanese character Dictionary
Fourth, communication is still not enough
Maybe you are still communicating with foreigners, you understand them and they understand you. But ask yourself more: Is my Japanese easy to hear?
If you speak in a very heavy indigenous language, the listener must really try hard to understand it. If communication is like a torture, the conversation will lose a lot of excitement. Maybe next time they will avoid you and replace it with another partner when possible. If you speak clearly, in a pleasant voice, people will simply enjoy talking to you. They will want to spend time with you.
Choose Japanese character dictionary books or English to Japanese Dictionary apps?
If you use books, you have to memorize phonemes, which in turn dictates how to read. For newbies, this is so hard that reading is still wrong.
That’s why the advice I give you is to choose English to Japanese character dictionary with pronunciation. Specifically, it’s Japanese character dictionary app because it will integrate the listening file audio for you to listen and read.
The best English to Japanese dictionary with pronunciation is Mazii. Mazii can both translate English to Japanese and Japanese to English.

Kanji is always a big obstacle for learners. In particular, Kanji is a collection of handwriting that is hard to read, write and hard to remember. However, there are general rules to help you memorize how to write Chinese characters easily.
Moreover, the great developments of modern technology have contributed to creating kanji writing dictionary that helps you easily improve Kanji
Although there will be exceptions, the following rules are true for 99% Kanji that you can apply with.
You can download Mazii Japanese Dictionary to practice, look up kanji, full of information about kanji including meaning, and example kanji
RULE 1: FROM LEFT TO RIGHT, FROM TOP TO BOTTOM
The basic rule of writing a kanji on the Japanese dictionary handwriting is that horizontal strokes will be written from left to right, and vertical strokes will be written from top to bottom.
For one [一], a horizontal line is written from left to right
The two [二] has two horizontal strokes written from left to right, but the upper stroke is written first and the lower one is written below.
The three [三] has three horizontal strokes also written from left to right, but the upper stroke is written first, the lower one is written in the same order.
For example [川]
Tumblr media
RULE 2: The horizontal strokes are written first, the vertical strokes are written after
When the horizontal and vertical strokes intersect, the horizontal stroke is written first and then the vertical stroke. And still obey rule 1 from left to right, from top to bottom.
For example: [十]
Tumblr media
RULE 3: Straight and horizontal strokes are last written
Kanji that has a horizontal stroke will be written last. For example [母] or [舟]
Besides the horizontal stroke, there is another line in the Chinese characters called the straight stroke. Straight stroke is a line that extends from the top to down, going through many different lines and being written last.
For example [中] or [用]
Tumblr media
RULE 4. Left oblique strokes before the right oblique strokes
With Japanese dictionary handwriting, during writ left strokes are called semicolons, right oblique strokes are marks. This rule will apply to symmetrical slanting like [文], and letters with asymmetrical strokes do not apply this rule. In some cases of other words, you can write the above rule.
Tumblr media
5. The symmetric Kanji will write the middle first
In this case, the vertical character in the middle is written first, followed by shorter strokes on the left and right. Left strokes write first, right strokes write later. For example [兜], [承] and the word [水].
Tumblr media
6. The outside part writes first, the inside writes later
When you handwrite kanji on the Japanese dictionary handwriting has rule applies to kanji with closed and non-enclosed strokes. That is to write the outer stroke first, the inner stroke later. For example, the words [口] or [門].
Tumblr media
7. With surrounding sections, write the vertical strokes on the left first
In the surrounding area, the vertical strokes on the left write first and then the outside strokes write later. For example: In the words [日] and [口], we write the vertical line on the left first, followed by the line on the top, then the line on the right.
Tumblr media
For example [病] or [回]
8. The bottom stroke is last written in the enclosures
For the surrounding text, there are strokes at the bottom, that stroke will be written last. For example, the words [近] or [建]
Tumblr media
9. Tiny dots are written last
When you write on the Japanese dictionary kanji draw, with small dots like [玉], [求] and [朮], small dots will be written at the end.
Tumblr media

The fastest way for you to pass - JLPT N5 Kanji test
If you’re looking to test your skills and see where you’re at in Japanese, the JLPT is a great place to try it out. So here’s your quick guide to learning the necessary JLPT N5 kanji.
Tumblr media
What to Expect on the JLPT N5 Kanji Test
Even though the JLPT N5 Kanji test is the most basic formal Japanese test, passing the test is still a big achievement.
To pass the JLPT N5 Kanji test, you have to be able to read Japanese at a basic level and understand simple conversations from daily life and school. You should know around 800 vocabulary words. I recommend that you start with vocabulary learning apps and about 50 basic grammar samples.
Why do You Need to Know Kanji for the JLPT N5 Kanji Test?
One of the most daunting tasks when starting to learn Japanese? Kanji.
At the N5 level, the JLPT expects you to know about 100 kanji to pass. These kanji can change slightly between tests, but you can generally expect to see the 100 most common kanji for verbs, numbers, time, places, people, basic adjectives, and directions.
So, the more radicals you learn in kanji, the easier it becomes to understand more complex kanji. For the first 100, because they’re radicals, you’ve just got tomemorize them.
That being said, you can still come up with memorise to help you remember the kanji and their readings — and I highly recommend that you do, because it will help you immensely down the road.
Japanese N5 Kanji List —  You Need to Know for the JLPT N5
For the most part, these different readings are less important for the JLPT N5 Kanji list. If you learn these kanji with a vocab word that might also be on the test, then you should be able to remember the most common reading. It’ll help you get the most out of your study time.
Japanese Kanji for Numbers
The drawback is that most of the time in Japan, they use 1 – 10 romanized numbers instead of kanji. But you still have to learn them. Be careful with 千: it looks almost identical to チ (katakana chi) and one of the readings is the same.
Japanese Kanji for Time
Some of the kanji list have more uses than just time, such as 来る which is an irregular verb. But, 来 also reads as らい, meaning “future”. Combined with other time kanji you get: 来週 (“next week”), 来月 (“next month”), and 来年 (“next year”).
Japanese Kanji for People & Things
This category includes many of the basic natural elements (very important in Japanese culture, so they pop up a lot), people, and body parts. Because these kanji are used in so many words, they’ve evolved the most over time and have a lot of readings. I’ve included most of the top ones to know, but you’ll often find these have irregular readings, too.
Japanese Kanji for Places & Directions
It’s a good idea to memorize each reading really well for the common kanji. 店 is read as ten almost as often as mise. 外 is just as often read as gai as it is soto. But, they have patterns. 店 reads as ten when combined with other kanji, like 喫茶店. On its own, it’s mise. It’s the same with 外: gai describes something foreign or outside the norm of one’s own country or group. Soto is used to just say “outside.”
Japanese Kanji for Verbs
The most important onyomi readings that may pop up would be for 聞, 読, 書, 食, and 会. The first three — hear, read, and write — appear in their onyomi readings in the test descriptions themselves that state the test section you’re on. Most likely you won’t be quizzed on them, but you’ll want to know them to understand what you’re looking at on the test. The last two — eat and meet — have common onyomi readings like 食品 (“food,” or “food goods”) and 会社 (company).
Japanese Kanji for Adjectives
For example, 小 (little) + 学校 (school) means “elementary school.” You’ll definitely need to know them for later tests and vocab, but for N5 purposes your time would be better focused reviewing the kunyomi readings.
Don’t let the JLPT N5 test intimidate you. The best advice: Try to relax and keep calm. If you go in stressed and nervous, you may struggle to focus, especially when listening.
