the past month my brain has felt like three guys and two of them are arguing because one of them thinks that if I don’t finish all of my uni assignments immediately the world will end (extreme) and the other one thinks that I could finish all of my uni assignments in the hour before they are due so I should put them off until then (also extreme) and the third guy just wants to look at casualty stuff every 5 minutes (he always gets what he wants)

#a week from now the complaining will be over #gonna shower and have a drink and write a first draft (it’s easier when drunk trust me) #my first drafts are like if i whacked the keyboard a bit and ideas happened to come out of it

Okay, now that I finally have the energy to comment, I want to say: that BBC site spoiler for next week that says Iain "discovers Teddy's secret" is worrying me.

I really, really hope the secret Iain finds out about is "only" (quotation marks because it's not like it's not a big deal) that Teddy's going to the fight club. I think it probably will be, thank goodness - I think Casualty will probably end up using "everyone is angry at Teddy for going to the fight club" to isolate him even more for a while. But even then... I'm not looking forward to seeing Iain "save Teddy from himself" by holding off a bunch of blokes at the fight club or something, taking all the focus off of Teddy and onto Iain's heroics, which I expect to happen because when is Iain getting involved with something not building up to him playing the hero?

Iain and Teddy don't really know each other. They work together, but that's about it. I don't see any reason for Iain to get involved. I like him as a friend to Jacob but I don't want him to drag himself into the terrible idea from the off that is the fight club storyline and make it all even less about Teddy.

when writing the teddy/paige half-divorce arc they really failed to use those paige and ffion parallels they did not mean at all to establish during driving force

#they're not direct but they are there #can you tell that I'm thinking about how teddy and jan are alike #a history of violence you could've been so good if only the casualty writers weren't the casualty writers

we tied your nephew's ideas of independence and freedom and agency to his job. yeah, he saw you as a symbol of those things that he had been desperate for and constantly denied and now can't untie them from being a paramedic. sorry. he's going to go through hell for this job multiple times but he won't ever leave it. yeah, he actually can't leave it, this job will kill him one way or another. his best-friend-soulmate was able to escape the tragedy but he can't go with them and they both always knew that. so, it seems like (between just the two of you) you've broken the generational curse of your family but actually you've invented a new generational curse of being a paramedic. yeah his unhealthy ideas about the job might be based on yours... sorry, he's got even more trauma now but at least he's a paramedic and no one can take that from him. sorry again.

I wish I had the time to sit down and write a post about how the argument at the end of Switzerland is a scene that actually deals with Teddy being angry and treating Jan horribly really well and then the other writers seemingly completely misunderstood what worked about that scene and lost track of who Teddy is actually supposed to be, leading to the train-wreck that was AHOV!Teddy and whatever the fuck is happening right now.

#remember how he and jan suddenly made sense again at the end of AHOV #she wrote those episodes too

(Realistically, Iain will just be finding out about the fight club because they wanna string this out. But I don’t care for that at all because what business does Iain really have in Teddy’s life? They’re literally just work friends, I’m sorry there are other characters who would realise he’s going through it way sooner than Iain like, I don’t know, his AUNT.)

There’s been no acknowledgment of the fact that Abe is showing up again in this week’s episode in the spoilers which is a bit weird. I guess it means another week of very little happening with Teddy, which I am very much fine with.

80s Casualty Updates:

This is the last series I’ll be able to call it that, we’re up to 1989. I started series 4 tonight but I’ve also just finished series 3, it took me a while even though it’s the shortest one.

First of all, THE OPENING HAS CHANGED!!?!?!?!?!? Same music, different stuff happening…….. feel like I’ve lost another beloved series 1 character. This new opening isn’t half as cool as the old one.

I also think they have dropped the idea of Casualty being focussed on the night shift of Holby’s ED, which I figured was gonna happen eventually considering the show isn’t currently focused on the night shift but I feel like that’s another character I’ve lost. The spirit of it all happening in the middle of the night, and them having house parties in the morning, is lost.

On that note, RIP Ewart and goodbye Kuba, I’m heartbroken about both of them.

Goodbye some others as well! Ewart and Kuba stick out because they were just series 1 but I really, really do find myself wishing the early series were longer so we had more time with the good characters they had back then. I wish they could pick some of them up and drop them into series 38.

So, there’s a bunch of new characters and I’m not sure how I feel about them. Need more time with them. Need to dwell on them a little.

Why does Charlie have so much game? I do not like that this man has managed to get with three beautiful women already. In my head, he has always been 70 even if I can see with my eyes that he isn’t. There’s been Baz, Karen and now Valerie, and I don’t get how he’s managing this.

TED HAS LEFT MEGAN!!!?!?!?!?!??? Bros………

This episode has a car accident that reminded me of the one that happened in Trauma.

Generally: A lot of changes I’m sad about but I’m sure I’ll get over it (but every episode is one episode further away from Sandra <\3).
