“did you hear about the upcoming meteor shower?”  adam   asked   the   other.   a   streaming   hot   cup   of   espresso   in   his   hand,   the   professor   loved   his   caffeine   and   needed   it   for   the   long   hours   he   worked.  

“meteor shower?” meg’s eyebrows furrowed, looking away from her cup of coffee and over to the man. “like rocks fall in the sky?” meg wasn’t a simpleton--she was honestly pretty quick all things considered. but she wasn’t a space scientist, that was for sure. “i--i don’t think i’ve ever seen one of those in real life, so i definitely didn’t hear about it from anyone around here.”

“oy, you’ve got to be kiddin’ me.” meg sighed heavily, throwing herself on the chair, hand rubbing her forehead rapidly. flo’s was pretty dead at three in the afternoon--after all, the kids were out on holiday so the after school crowd was few and far between. but, nonetheless, it was meg’s favorite place to go and get a shake. the less people the better. 

work was really being something of a devil, here recently; between the ever present guilt that attached itself to her every action at the company, to the way the case itself seemed to be impenetrable, it felt like meg was going to lose. not a new experience for her, to say the least, but one that certainly doesn’t feel very good. no matter how familiar you are. 

so, she had come to escape that wretched office, maybe breathe some new life into her thoughts on the client--but mostly to just get away. as she heard her name being called, she lurched herself forward, ready to grab and go, when she felt herself barrel right into someone else--and drop her phone, glass shattering everywhere. “Oof,” She groaned, falling to her knees immediately. “this day cannot get any worse.” meg’s eyes traveled back up and she furrowed her brows in a faint look of concern. “you ok? hopefully better than the phone fared.” ( @dreamlightstart )

meg is, well, meg. she’s snarky & witty, loves to break stereotypes and send you for a loop and is a big fan of adrenaline, wherever she can find it. 

will often joke about how she sold her soul to her job as a paralegal in dreamlight--but that might not be as inconceivable as you might think....

it wasn’t always meg’s dream to work for lawyers for the rest of her life--but it was her only option. 

after a few bad....money management choices, meg found herself down and very out. 

but a ~kind~ older man took her in (no, not that way!) and helped her get back up on her feet--and find a job at his office as a paralegal. 

this old man, Mr. William Dumphries, was  truly kind man, who expected nothing in return...

However his son, Leon Dumphries, was not. And when his father passed, there was this unspoken rule that Meg owed his family...forever.

and while meg is, well, meg--she did feel an obligation to continue to give back to the family that nearly saved her from ruin

except Leon is...a meanie bo beanie, as the kids would say. And Meg hates her job. but its the one she’s got. 

And she’s very, very good at it. 

But shes a good friend, a decent person and one hell of a monopoly player. 

Meg is a snarky, witty person who can be a fun friend but has her guard up thanks to feeling that if she gives anyone else any other part of her, she’s going to lose her independence and self even more than she already has. And that terrifies her more than anything
