layla used to be in the strangers shoes, for most of her adult life. valentines day was a reflection of love, or at least people trying to convince themselves their relationships/situationships were the perfect example. but, of course, her view on indulging on the day of love changed a lot when getting into her first relationship ever. "how strong do we want?" she asks, with a grin half dangling from her lips as she looks back towards the shelves of alcohol.

Melanie always had a full fridge, unlike when she was growing up where she mostly had some slices of cold pizza for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. "The first thing in my mind is pasta, but I accept suggestions."

He couldn't deny she had a point, but naturally, he went to wipe his face anyway and she was right about the price of things too. Everything had been hiked up for the day. "I am hungry," He responded quickly, his head tilting to the side as he listened to her offer. "I won't say no to someone cooking for me, what's on the menu?" When the drink was done she grabbed the cup and took a sip, she wasn't joking about the rum, but it was good, better than rum and soda which was what she normally had. "This is great, I would never guess something with rum could taste this good." Well except for rum cake, that was something else. "Have you worked here long?"

Nora nodded and pushed off the bar to put in the order and start making the drink. "Coming right up. Hope you like rum." Going through the motions of prepping the drink was basically second nature at this point; Nora hadn't needed to get into bartending to know how to make a half-decent cocktail. When she was done, she placed the drink in front of the woman. "What's your verdict?"

She gave a friendly bunch on his arm. "Technically, it is still a cupcake even if the frosting is all over your face." She teased him back. "It tastes the same but is 5 times more expensive. I might just go home and cook something. How about you? Are you hungry? wanna join me" She preferred to cook than to go to a restaurant and have the talk with the waiters, table for one on valentines day.

"Technically this is normal food," he reminded her teasingly. He understood why she wanted something that wasn't heart-shaped. The whole thing was a bit overhyped. "It still tastes the same, even with all the red and pink food coloring. But I'm sure one of the restaurants is open if you're over it?"

"No, I haven't tried yet, surf lessons aren't exactly popular out of the summer, but who knows, I might go and see what I can do by myself, how bad can it be?" She chuckled. "I got accepted in the hospital to make my residency and finish my degree." She got accepted in other places, but she decided a beach town would be better than a place with snow

He’d done his share of surfing when he was growing up in Aurora Bay. You kind of had to have it in your blood in order to survive the beach town. Though he admitted he wasn’t the best at it. At being nearly 6’5’’ Gabe was all limbs. “ that ocean broke you down already?” He joked before letting out a sigh. He had been popular in high school but he still hated it. It reminded him of his family discourse. If everything in Aurora Bay felt like that still he wouldn’t have come home “ it’s mostly smaller places who still have that energy. If you have a cliquey sort of job and all that. What brought you here?” @mel-hart

"I'm finishing my residency at the local hospital." That was why she ended up moving to Aurora Bay after all, it seemed like a nice town, so why not? "Have you lived here long?"

Ann always aimed to make people feel comfortable, so any time she could it always made her happy knowing she had done what she always set out to do. "I will always remember that now, I will make sure to ask for you if I ever need a pediatrician, where are you studying?"

"I arrived a few days ago actually." She admitted she hated being new in town and not knowing anyone around, but she was excited to make new friends. "Two ice creams, please." She ordered and paid for the treat before they moved to the person next to them who would get what they wanted. "chocolate, please."

Mel walked around, she wasn't a big fan of Valentine's day, but she was curious to see the city. "This place really goes all out for the holiday, I wouldn't be surprised if I saw a flower heart-shaped at this point.

Curiosity had, as usual, gotten the better of her and Wren found herself walking by all the various vendors and so many goddamned hearts. "I get the shtick and all but come on, did they really need to make that heart-shaped?"

She chuckled. "Yes, please, I would love to have something today that's not pink or heart-shaped." She had no problem with Valentine's Day, people who had someone to celebrate with, should enjoy all the pink and romantic theme, but it could be brutal for those that were alone.

layla had once again found a reason to be experimental with drinks. pink, red, and white fruits and flowers, all the more excuse to be creative. "if you're not feeling the love tonight i have other new options." she called over her shoulder towards the patron reading the menu. the bartender knew well enough herself that valentines could be equally as crap as it could be romantic. she sits a line of freshly cleaned martini glasses in a long row, before resting the bar cloth over her shoulder, "they're a lot less frilly and pink."

She had to admit, all the heart-shaped food was making her feel even more alone. "I get it, I'm new in town and I'm also here just for the food, I would prefer some normal food, but apparently that will be impossible today."

She smiled, the woman was nicer than her own mother ever was, and it made her feel loved and warm on the inside. "Is a pleasure to meet you. If you ever have an emergency with the kid, please give me a call, I'm studying to become a pediatrician, and I love to help the little ones."

Ann wasn't afraid of letting people know that they shouldn't be afraid of being themselves, that was one of her main mottos in life, to remain true to who you were as a person. "I aim to be everyone's favorite, I always try to give enough love for most people, and even then I have more to give. I'm Ann sweetheart, owner of Kid's Cottage, adoptive mother to the town, if you ever need anything you just reach out, I'll be there in a heartbeat."

"It's so fun to make too! Honestly, it's wonderful in the summer, but even when it's a bit chilly out, it's still too delicious to pass up sometimes." She chuckled softly as she shook her head gently.

"I'm Noelle! And no, I promise you don't have to!" Noelle wasn't going to fight too much on it though because it just meant that she had an excuse to do something nice for the other later on.

"Child, it is absolutely never too cold for ice cream." Ann soothed, there was nothing wrong with ordering anything you liked at any time if the year, it was what being an adult was all about. The choice of what you did and when you did it. "Sweetheart, you can eat anything any time of the year, forget what another person says about what you want too. That's your choice."
