The start of the project was very confusing mostly because I was struggling with what artist I should pick. I looked through various artists unfortunately none of them really helped me with my game. The first artist I found was Cornelia. She is extremely a brilliant artist. Her work mainly involves landmarks which I wanted for my game but there was something I was not sure about her work. Perhaps I could not really grasp the understanding of her works.
After that I was introduced to Mark Dorf. His works are very eye-catchy. Landscapes with a little bit of bright colours, shapes, objects and wonderful composition. When I researched about him, I found out that his work are based on how people see nature in technology perspect. That intrigued me. I wanted to bring the same idea in my game.
Even after chooosing the artist, I was still struggling to translate artist鈥檚 work within the game. I had a lot of ideas but it just did not hit the right mark. Eventually, I decided to go with the idea of making landscapes that includes a cave, mountains and forest.
Making a cave with no entrace or exit was a good idea because player would need to teleport - a technology - in order to go outside or come inside. I wanted to convey that in modern society, people feel the need to have technology in order to explore the outside world.
I think one of the most challenging thing was to translate artist's work into a game. Even now I still feel there is something a vital key that is missing in my game. Over all, environment wise, I think the outcome came out quite well although there are some changes I would make in the future.
