Using our natural dyes to create techniques like tie dying, batiq and shabori dye. The beetroot dye worked the best because it had the most vivid colour compared to the carrot and spinach dye. I am most please with the shabori dye as I had to do lots of attempts to get my results as it was a tricky method compared to the other two techniques, after realising my mistake by not having the wooden blocks and material tight enough after I figured my mistake out my final pieces ended up really well. I will defiantly be trying these techniques out again with natural dyes.

clay workshop reflection
This week I have experimented with clay in the workshop to create 3D sculptures and have also experimented painting on clay as a new canvas. I have been inspired by my A-Z summer project and also jewelery dishes. my final piece came out as I expected it to look like but I had to make some changes and improvements because I came across some problems with using the clay. When the clay was to dry my sculpture kept breaking and it was very hard to mould and shape, I found out that the dryer clay was better for using as a canvas for painting on.
I have been inspired by clay dishes and jewellery dishes, that's how come I have included that in my final outcome, by making the petals shaped like jewellery dishes, however at the same time it can be a sculpture/decoration.

After needing the clay it was easier to mould into the shapes I wanted to achieve and was able to get detail and texture into the clay, I always used a mixed of dry clay and water to make a paste too help stick the parts together.

I also looked at my flower drawings to be inspired to help me design the shapes of the petals and how I wanted the final outcome to turn out like.

I have created a collage out of line making and layering with drawings and magazine cut outs. This is inspired by one of the workshops I did with layering, this has helped me achieve this result of the collages.
