theo squinted at his own paddle, holding it up to the light and hoping that it would appear a little less ugly. no such luck. his elephant was suffering under his brush. “ i’m sorry to disappoint you, but not really… like, at all. i think it would’ve been better to leave mine blank. ” shrugging helplessly, he offered reyna a weak smile and set his paintbrush down. “ we were trying to do a good thing, though, and that counts for something, right ?? the kids loved the idea. ” 

“ i mean, you’re no leonardo but your rabbit isn’t that bad! ” in her attempt to reassure theo, she hadn’t even realized her mistake. “ you’re right. it’s the thought that counts, not the artwork, which is exactly why we need to convince someone else to paint these for us and take the credit. good idea, theo. ” she sat up before stretching out her legs, which had become stiff from laying idle for so long. “ next time, we should stick to physical activities. we’re actually good at those. ”

@missrcyna  Jackson had been waiting for the door to open, wondering who his blind date was for this year’s dance with quite a bit of anticipation. Albeit only here for show, it didn’t mean he couldn’t still have fun with whoever it was going to be. He had to admit the element of surprise was quite enticing, and to his relief, his date was actually someone he tolerated. “Well, well, well. Aren’t I a lucky guy? It’s Miss Mercedes,”. Over the years, he had his fair share of fun flirting with and teasing Reyna, and her being a good sport about it only showed that she was bound to be a good date. “Looks like I didn’t waste my tie on just anyone. Are you ready to go?”. 

smiling widely at his comment, reyna laughingly gave a dramatic flip of her hair before lowering into a slight curtsy. “ but aren’t i the luckiest girl? i wonder how many counselors signed up for this thing, just hoping to get paired up with you. ” although she mostly participated in the blind dates for fun, admittedly a small part of her had thought of jackson as she had given her name. “ aww, i’m tie-worthy? wow, you really know how to make someone feel special, ” she said, jokingly clasping her hands to her chest. after checking to make sure she had her bag, she responded to his question with a nod. “ i’m ready to go if you are. ”

There was no hiding the excitement that Rosie felt. While she adored the camp, she could not wait to see the city again. Most importantly she was excited to go dress shopping with Reyna. Filling her bag with things she might need, credit card, lip gloss, and the like. With her cellphone in hand, she stared down to her Google Maps, seeing that there was a bit of a walk to the nearest bus stop. “ Reyna ! We gotta get walking to the bus stop so we can make it on time. Otherwise it’ll be a two hour wait for the next one. ” Calling to their shared bathroom where the other girl seemed to be getting ready, Rosie stood a bit impatiently by the cabin door. With one hand on the door knob and the other sifting through her curl. her mind wandering off to what sort of dress she might search for. Her stomach seemed to start doing small flips at the way her day dreamt perfect evening would go.

“ hold on -- i’m almost done! ” she’d just finished brushing her hair, but at the moment she was hurriedly looking for where she had placed her wallet. after a moment of rummaging through her stuff, she remembered where she had placed said item. bursting through the bathroom door, she quickly found it on her bed, shooting rosie a relieved smile as she put the wallet into her bag. “ okay, so, i kinda left my stuff all over the bathroom but i promise i’ll clean it up when we get back, so let’s just go. ” although she’d been doing this dance since she was a kid, reyna had still managed to forget to pack a dress for the event. she had originally planned to borrow a dress from a friend, but she ultimately decided to buy a new one once she had found out who mimi paired her up with. she was excited to go dress shopping with rosie, knowing that any time spent with the other girl always ended up being an enjoyable experience.

with various bottles of paint strewn about on the floor around her, reyna was painting a canoe paddle as she sat on the floor of the arts cabin. she was planning to make her paddle look like a duck, so she was currently painting it yellow. after she painted an entire side, she realized that she would have saved time if she had just gotten a yellow paddle. sighing at her lack of judgment, she looked over at theo to see what he was doing. “ how’s yours looking? hopefully better than mine. i'm pretty sure i just wasted the last whatever number of minutes we’ve been in here. this is why lola is in charge of arts and crafts -- not me. ” // @matucs

it was the night of the storm, and reyna was currently trying to make her way across the bridge. she’d volunteered to grab some supplies, but she definitely had underestimated the severity of the weather. it became difficult to push against the winds and keep moving. after nearly being completely knocked off her feet again and again, she called out for help, praying that anyone who could help get her off of the bridge was around. eventually, she gave up and attempted to pioneer forward, but was caught off guard by a gust of wind strong enough to send her over the bridge’s railing. // @ftwynters
