Continued from here [x] (@magickslayer)
Flynn had heard the rumors of a sorcery genius out in the world that could likely help him with his issue. Normally, something like this… he would have gone to Witcher or Rita but when both of them seemed stumped on how to cure this affliction he had been put under, Flynn was starting to get a little desperate. The name Lina Inverse was given to him by nothing more than a rumor but a rumor was still better than nothing.
The name had been followed by a stream of… slightly more concerning rumors that would have definitely sent a few of his own men running but Flynn hadn’t come this far in life just to let out-of-control rumors stop him from finding someone who could help cure him from this weird curse that he had been hit with.
When he finally found her, though, she was… definitely not what Flynn was expecting.
Tumblr media
He wasn’t expecting someone glowing bright with gold with a magical force that even Flynn himself could feel. He had been momentarily caught off guard, staring with wide blue eyes before he shook his head to quickly gather his thoughts.
“You’re… Lina Inverse, correct?” He raises an eyebrow and tilts his head. Gold… everything aside, she seemed to fit the description. “I’m looking for someone who could possibly have a spell that can break a… curse, I believe? We haven’t had much luck and someone told me to seek you out.” At his own risk, they said, but he decided to leave that part out for now.

Attraction: Flynn is so dazzled by Yuri’s looks that sometimes he can’t really help but stare at the other when others aren’t looking. Growing up, Flynn loved to play with Yuri’s hair and found it almost soothing to run his fingers through. His hair is probably his favorite physical trait on Yuri, right next to literally everything else. Overall, Flynn is VERY attracted to Yuri. He is a touchy-feely boyfriend and he is not afraid to show it. (And also his voice is very nice.) Long story short, boyfriend gotta hot body what can ya do?
Affection: Growing up, the affection that Flynn held for Yuri admittedly wavered here and there. Less because he didn’t like Yuri but more from the own monsters in his head. As a teenager, his affection had practically been maxed out as he practically couldn’t even consider spending time with someone else. As a Knight, he tried to quietly smother that affection, afraid that Yuri was going to do something stupid and get himself killed and that he wouldn’t be able to recover from it. However, as they went on from that part of their lives, Flynn couldn’t really bring himself to hide how much affection he has for this man. To the point where Yuri is usually the first on Flynn’s list of concerns.
Interest: Flynn didn’t have a lot of interests as a child aside from practicing swordplay, due to having to help care for his already frail mother. Because of this, Yuri ended up having to introduce Flynn to a bunch of his own interests in which Flynn picked up as his own. Because of this, Yuri and Flynn share a lot of interests with one another. Of course, Flynn began to pick up his own interests eventually, mostly when he was separated from Yuri but a lot of them were practically because they branched off from the original interests they shared as kids.
Loyalty: Flynn is loyal to a fault when it comes to Yuri. He’s so loyal to Yuri that he was even willing to give up his position for the man. Even when Yuri had committed murders, Flynn would tell himself that he intended on turning Yuri in to pay for his crimes but it seemed like he was finding every reason in the book to not arrest him right then and there. Even when Yuri had blood on his hands, Flynn was still trying to reason with him that it wasn’t too late to turn back from that path. And if Yuri had decided to do so, Flynn would have likely turned to look away from the crimes that had already been done. He will also put his entire life on the line for Yuri. (Also, this man literally created a fake report to cover for Yuri killing Garista. Despite what Flynn says, he would never throw Yuri in jail and will hide a body for him. )
Trust: There is not a single human being in this entire world that Flynn trusts more than Yuri. You could put the world’s kindest individual in front of him and Flynn would still say that he trusted Yuri more. Flynn trusts Yuri to watch his back, to protect not only him but to protect the people around them. That trust has never wavered. Not once and likely never will. Flynn trusts Yuri to always do the right thing, even if it doesn’t seem right in other people’s eyes. Flynn even trusts Yuri to grab him and yell (or even beat) some sense into him if he ever found himself treading down a wrong path like he did with Alexei. It’s probably not healthy to trust in someone as much as Flynn trusts in Yuri, Flynn is aware of this. But he simply does not care.

Even when given permission, Flynn looks hesitant as he watches the noble turn the corner, leaving him alone with the young girl that only… he could see, from what he understands? He was still wrapping his head about that little detail and still had moments where he thought that he was, perhaps, going mad. Still, he doesn’t get the opportunity to complain often and while he didn’t want to make it a habit, he would be lying if he said he wasn’t feeling the urge.
And… well… there was really no one nearby that could accuse him of going crazy if he was overheard talking to himself. So… there shouldn’t be any harm in divulging in Edna’s suggestion to vent to her. It wasn’t like she could spill any classified information, right?
So, he’s quiet for a moment, seeming to consider his words carefully before turning to Edna, expression fully exasperated now as opposed to the look of passive compliance that he wore just moments before. Running a hand through his hair, he can only sigh. “I think a lot of it is that they’re used to the Commandant being one of the higher powers. There was no emperor before me and a lot of the time, it seemed to be Alexei versus the Council. And… sometimes it still is. Me against the Council. But they never bother any of the councilmen for these crazy demands of theirs. It’s always me and then I refuse or can’t, they start digging into my own status like it matters.”
Tumblr media
All because he was the Commandant from the Lower Quarter… He wasn’t sure what was worst, honestly. Being looked down on because he was from the Lower Quarter or nobles assuming that he, himself, was a noble and that they had full right to talk down about his childhood home right in front of him, and then get offended when he jumped in to defend it.
“It must be nice, living in such a way that you don’t have to worry about the consequences of your words and actions. Living only in the present and never having to worry about the past or future. Meanwhile, I fight daily for the bare essentials to be given to the Lower Quarter and the Council and nobles fight it every step of the way. It’s disgusting.”
Yeah, Flynn must have been holding that in for a very long time because the exasperation turned to anger as his fist clenched for a moment and then… he snaps out of it and the anger gives way to embarrassment.
“...My apologies– I mean– I know you asked for me to complain but… well… it still feels weird to do so. Usually the only one I vent to is Yuri but... well, I don't want him to think I can't handle this position."
continued. ❀ @mistralxsoul
Tumblr media
Finally, she thinks, rolling her eyes as she watches that obnoxious noble saunter away. Edna had not been there from the beginning, but she has been standing there long enough to see the long-suffering... suffering in Flynn's eyes as she observed from a safe distance. No one but him can see her here, and she supposes there are some great perks to being a seraph: she doesn't have to deal with idiots like that because they can't even see her.
Truthfully, she could've just walked right up to Flynn and stand right next to him and the noble would never even know—but if Edna has learned anything at all from her journey, it's that nerds can talk for a long, long, long, long time. Flynn may be patient enough to deal with that man, as it is ( unfortunately ) his job to, but not Edna: and so began her short-term occupation as the peanut gallery, fascinated by the impressive show of self-restraint on Flynn's face, then the open frustration after the noble idiot walked away. She is mildly disappointed that he couldn't punch the guy, though. Really, it would've been quite the show. Boo.
❛  Not all of it,  ❜ she admits, casually hovering her umbrella over herself, watching as the noble turns a corner and is finally out of sight for good, ❛  but long enough to tune him out. I'm normally not interested in what idiots have to say.  ❜ She also has firsthand experience tuning out Sorey and Meebo when they ramble. This noble is honestly no match for those two when it comes to length. Besides, Edna is not from here, so anything that idiot said is not something she knows ( or bothers to know. )
Tumblr media
She gives him a piteous look. ❛  The title of 'Commandant' must mean 'Dumpster' to them, which is proof that they spout nothing but trash. You're allowed to complain about trash, especially when it does nothing but fester and annoy people.  ❜ She contemplates suggesting for him to pretend he's super busy so that he has no opportunity to offer the next stupid noble his time, but she gets the feeling that a Commandant wouldn't want to lie. Double boo. What does a girl need to do to have some entertainment?
❛  It's no good bottling it up, as it would lead to more frustration,  ❜ she advises, sagely, and thinks she's bored enough to lend her ear instead, if only to hear what other stupid things he had to endure for her to appropriately mock, ❛  so complain to your heart's desire. I am free today.  ❜

Flynn should have been glad that Yuri took up the practice weapon, should have been glad when the man took up a stance to spar with him. He was always calmest and happiest when his weapon was in hand and he always felt at ease when he sparred with Yuri. It was where he felt most at home when he lived back at the Lower Quarter. It was always when things felt normal for Flynn.
So Flynn was terrified when he realized, as he swung his blade with Yuri, that the familiar feeling wasn’t returning. He couldn’t get his head into it, couldn’t feel the same familiar joy he felt when he swung the stick, letting wood collide as their weapons met. And with every clack of wood against wood, with every vibration of their connected hits shooting through his arm, he grew more and more overwhelmed by the fact that nothing was feeling familiar anymore.
Was he truly so different now that he didn’t even feel at home while sparring with Yuri? Was he so lost that he couldn’t even enjoy this anymore? Did he even deserve this? This wasn’t his thing anymore, was it? Was this simply reserved for the old him?
Another swing of his wooden blade. Another connecting blow with Yuri’s weapon. Who even was the old him? When had he disappeared? Was this why Yuri couldn’t even look at him?
A dodge to the left, he side steps and he even gets grazed by the other’s sword, though not enough to leave a mark. Was he just a shadow of his father now? Had joining the nights really erased every bit of himself? Was he just going to be ‘Finath Scifo’s son’ now? Will he ever make up for his father’s mistake? Will people ever stop reminding him of how noble, how stupid, his father was?
Will–
The weapon swings much harder than Flynn intended and connects hard with Yuri’s shoulder and in an instant, his mind goes entirely blank as he watches the other recoil back, hand grasping his now hurt shoulder. For a moment, he’s taken back to that day, about ten or more years ago, when he had first met Yuri. The day he had just nearly broken Jareth’s shoulder because of his own intensity with the weapon Yuri had given him.
He remembered feeling a bit of guilt that night, curling up in his bed and wondering why he couldn’t stop himself. Why he couldn’t stop himself from lashing out. They were just kids. They had no training. They had no means of self defense. He was honestly surprised that Yuri could stop him at all.
He thought he had gotten better. He thought he had.
“...Yuri–” The wooden weapon slips from his hand and clatters to the ground as Flynn jumps to Yuri’s side, hands hovering as if he’s afraid to touch the other (because he was afraid. What if he hurt Yuri again?). “Oh my gosh– Yuri, are you alright?! I’m– I’m so sorry, I wasn’t... I didn’t think I was swinging that hard!!"
His face was pale and panicked… but for once since they had started talking tonight, his eyes were slowly beginning to focus. Focus directly on Yuri as worry began to overtake his features. “H-Here, can you pull your shirt off a bit…? Let me see it. Maybe… Maybe we can request a healer. I’ll take the blame for it– This was my idea.” It’d come from his own funds, he was certain of that. That was fine. Totally fine. Anything to get Yuri healed.
"Dammit– Dammit– Yuri, I am so sorry, I wasn’t thinking– I was distracted, I didn’t want to hurt you!”
Tumblr media
In some ways Yuri could tell there was something wrong even without Flynn's admittance. Usually Flynn at least kept it so his appearance never indicated if something was wrong. Even right now though, if anyone else saw him, they would be able to tell instantly. Yuri didn't want to push any buttons, but he also wasn't sure he wanted to just leave Flynn by himself when he was apparently struggling with something.
As far as using sparring to work things out, that was nothing new to them, so Yuri wasn't against it. They fought a lot lately and Yuri hated it, but he didn't want to leave Flynn alone to deal with something by himself. More than against doing this, he was simply concerned at the way Flynn's thoughts seem to change direction again and again. Like he couldn't keep a clear idea of what he wanted to say in his head.
So Yuri sighed, hoping it would relieve any potential tension in his voice. "I don't... really know how to help you make sense of whatever is going on in your head, but... I'd help if I could. If this helps, I don't mind doing this for a while." Even if it got them into a small scolding, that was better than watching Flynn struggle through his personal thoughts that he couldn't even figure out how to speak out properly.
Though Yuri didn't want to say it in this moment, primarily out of fear for saying it wrong or saying it in a way that might once again set Flynn off, he was concerned. Concerned that Flynn wasn't automatically just telling him what was on his mind. Concerned that he couldn't read his thoughts just by looking at him when they'd been able to do that mutually before. Concerned that... Flynn was mentally in some distant place where he couldn't even talk to Yuri himself about those thoughts.
As they sparred though, a couple of things did clear up for Yuri, as he might have been able to guess if he'd really considered that their sparring sessions answered his questions best. First, something was bothering Flynn in a way that caused anger, but that anger wasn't specifically directed at Yuri. It was more like he was trying to fight against something else and was looking at something else. Second, that Flynn's thoughts seemed to carry his "weapon" more than Flynn's mind did.
On a normal day, Flynn's movements didn't look like this. These were more erratic and unhinged than his usual sessions. Normally he was calmer and able to calculate better, but these movements were more like... he couldn't focus. Like whatever was going on in his mind was too distracting to properly keep his mind on the session, instead wandering away from it.
Given how off his movements were, Yuri shouldn't have been surprised when the practice weapon landed just right on his shoulder when his own thoughts about what Flynn was dealing with distracted him. Just right to make him drop his own weapon and wince backward. It probably wasn't intentional, but it was entirely possible Flynn's clouded mind had struck wrong. It hurt, too. Was it just an accident, or... was it subconsciously what he'd done on purpose to Jareth back then...?
As the weapon fell from his hand, his free hand moved to his shoulder as the pain did its rounds right through it. Another indicator Flynn wasn't on his usual mark. A normal session didn't see Flynn use this much force in his swings. In a practice session, he wasn't looking to hurt his partner. The intensity of that swing made Yuri think Flynn really wasn't all that there right now.

"Be carful from that woman. She is the Lord of Calamity."
A quick scan of the man in front of him definitely screams 'knight' to Flynn. A knight from where, he definitely could not say. But the man seemed distressed about something. Though, judging by his words, maybe 'about someone' was more accurate.
Tumblr media
Woman? Lord of Calamity? Flynn would be lying if he said he wasn't just a little confused by his warning.
"Apologies... I'm not sure I know who you're referring to? What woman? Are you alright?" If anyone was bringing the calamity, he'd at least like to investigate but... Well, if he had a gald coin for every time he was told someone he knew was actively destroying the world....

Flynn didn’t like that Guy felt like he owed him an explanation but he wasn’t going to fight him on that, if only for the purpose of preventing the man from getting spooked like that again. From what he was told, though, everything seemed to click into place for Flynn as the pieces slowly came together.
If Guy suffered from gynophobia, it would make sense as to why the man reacted that way. If he were afraid of contact in general, Flynn would have noticed right away, considering how they had literally been knocked into one another when they had been dealing with the thief from before. Them crashing into each other was just as sudden, if not more, than the little girl latching onto Guy with a hug.
Tumblr media
Suddenly, things were making sense and Flynn was left nodding in understanding. He couldn’t judge the man for such a ‘strange’ fear and he was certain that the man had his own reasons for it. Of course, he wouldn’t pry into why this fear came to be (no matter how curious Flynn was) and instead, finally let his hand rest on Guy’s shoulder in show of comfort and support.
“Phobias are hard to get over. Especially if the thing you’re afraid of is practically everywhere in your life. Exposure therapy can only do so much.” Flynn gives him a small and understanding smile. “It won’t go away so easily. You may get better about it but every so often, something happens that it startles you. You can’t blame yourself for that. It’s an ever going battle.”
Then, in order to be fair, Flynn decided to exchange the information with a weird little fear of his own. “For example, I have a small little fear of taking medicines. I have since I was little. And you know… as a knight, sometimes you may get into fights that leave you with afflictions that you have to take medicine for. So… having to take medicine for those afflictions can be a struggle sometimes. And sometimes I wonder if I’ve made any progress at all with this strange little fear of mine.”
Finally, he steps back and gives Guy a little space. “If you’d like, I can let the innkeeper know about this so no one is able to surprise you like this again. But only if you’d like. Otherwise, we can just pretend it didn’t happen as well. Whatever makes you more comfortable.”
He noticed the way Flynn's hand hovered over his shoulder. It made sense, Guy thought. All Flynn knew was that Guy had reacted that way when he had been touched. It was easy to forget that he'd been able to take that punch from earlier without reacting that way, but Guy didn't think it wise to point it out. It wasn't really related to what had just happened anyway. So, Guy moved so that he wasn't standing in the doorway anymore.
"I'd be surprised if it didn't," he confessed. "It... startled my friends back home when I had a similar reaction once." Back at Choral Castle, when Anise had clung to him from behind. His phobia had been a lot worse back then.
It's still bad, Guy reminded himself with a small wince. Thankfully, he was able to shake himself away from that particular line of thought as Flynn continued to speak. There was a gratitude in his eyes and the way his posture relaxed a bit. At the very least, Flynn wasn't going to push him into going into every detail of what was going on. He followed Flynn's lead, moving even further from being in the inn's doorway.
"I appreciate that, Flynn. I do. This is actually pretty personal, so... I hope you don't mind if I don't go into as much detail about it as I could. But I feel like I at least owe you something about what just happened, so I don't mind sharing a little." It didn't look like anyone was paying attention to them. Still, Guy felt like he should speak a little softer.
Tumblr media
"I wouldn't blame you if you think this sounds weird. The reason I reacted that way is... I have this phobia of being touched by women." He was prepared for any potential reaction to admitting to that much. Some people felt like they could poke fun at him for it. After all, how often did one come across someone with that specific of a fear? Even his own friends had teased him about it before they'd known the root cause. So how would Flynn react?
"Recently, I'd felt like I'd finally started making some strides in recovering since I was able to figure out what caused the fear in the first place. But..." Well, Flynn had just seen what happened. For a suave, cool, and collected as Guy was, he still had this problem.
"I guess it still really gets to me if it happens suddenly like that." Despite the smile he tried to put on, it was apparent this fear wasn't anything he felt like he could really laugh about. Even when he tried to play it off like he did sometimes at home. Not when the reaction had been as bad as it was.

"I want to be a good person, like you are."
Every so often, Yuri ends up saying something along those lines and every time, it succeeds in dragging a completely baffled expression from Flynn. But of course, he knew of Yuri's ongoing battle with his self-confidence and the fact that... for some reason, Yuri seemed to put him on this pedestal, where he could really do no wrong.
However, they both knew that Flynn was no saint. He had made plenty of mistakes in his life. They both have. And they have both had their fair share of moments where their confidence had been completely shattered by their own actions. And sometimes, the other would have to remind them that despite their past actions, they were still a good person.
"Well, you wouldn't have to try very hard..." Flynn answers, smiling quietly toward the other. Because, in his eyes, Yuri was plenty good. Maybe even a better person than Flynn was, though he wasn't about to fight the other on that.
Instead, he would simply wrap his arms around Yuri's waist and with a strong tug, he yanked the other back against his chest and hugged him securely from behind before leaning forward to rest his chin on Yuri's shoulder.
"Shall I start listing all of the things you've done over the past year or so that have made you a good person? We will be here for a while if I do..." His tone is teasing, it sounding more like a threat than anything, as blue eyes dart up to watch the other's expression.
"Because, unless I'm mistaken, I don't think a bad person would drop everything just to run over to the side of someone in need. I've seen go to great lengths just to help a little girl get her cat out of a tree. Never mind the times you've thrown yourself in danger just to help someone who couldn't defend themselves. I think that you've even been a little late to some of our dates because you got caught up in helping someone."
Tumblr media
He's still smiling though as he squeezes Yuri from behind. "This is not me telling you to stop, by the way. I really, really wouldn't have it any other way and you know that. So, again: You are a good person. And if you still won't believe me, then I suppose we'll just be here for a while. Thankfully, I've got all day."

Flynn’s eyes were fixated on the hand that was wrapped around the throat of his own soldier and it took everything to bite down the panic that slowly began to rise in his chest as the woman stared back at him, biting out the warning and the intent to kill if Flynn took even one step closer to the threat in front of him. He could hear the tiny and frightened whimper from the man in her grasp.
Tumblr media
Flynn definitely recognized the voice from underneath the helmet. He was a new recruit that Flynn had picked out specifically for this squad. The boy was talented, that much was certain. Talented and full of life and promise. He wasn’t a noble, just the son of a baker from the Citizen’s Quarter, back in Zaphias. He was eager, young and perhaps a little naive. The poor kid had a bad habit of just going along with the flow of others in order to fit in. Flynn would definitely have to work on pushing that habit out of him. But there was no doing anything if the boy died here.
So Flynn didn’t push forward and he lowered his blade, just a bit, though he didn't back off. Not yet. He could hear some more knights approaching the area and he knew that the more knights that surrounded the woman, the more anxious and defensive she would get. Normally Flynn would just leave the questioning in a more secluded area with less distractions and more privacy but with a life on the line, Flynn would have to improvise. He couldn’t let her get away. But he wouldn't let his knight die for it either.
Holding out a hand to the knights that began to approach their location, Flynn looked over his shoulder as his eyes scanned the area. Spotting Sodia amongst the group of knights, his attention turned fully to her for a moment. “Sodia, tell the rest of the squad to fall back and then go and collect Witcher and some other healers to tend to the wounded.”
He watched as his second in command paused, clearly caught off guard by his orders. “Sir? But–”
“No buts, Sodia. The wounded come first. I’ll handle this from here. A full squad isn’t necessary.” Besides, it seemed like the woman had already gone against a full squad of knights and came out on top. Throwing another squad her way was clearly not the right move.
A moment passed of Flynn having to shoot down any protests that Sodia offered before she eventually gave in. He listened as she gave the order to back down and fall back while also picking out any stray civilians she saw and removing them from the area. A good decision.
Flynn, stubborn as ever, still remained where he stood before finally looking back to the woman holding his subordinate captive. The young boy tried to grab at her wrist, trying to pull her hand off of him but to no avail. With a deep breath, Flynn hesitantly sheathed his blade.
“I won’t come closer.” He promises, putting his hands up. “But I can’t let you go without knowing what happened here.”
His voice is calm but strong, showing that he wasn’t willing to just let this go. “That boy is my subordinate and because of that, he’s my responsibility. If there is a problem, leave him out of it and take it up with me. I’m willing to listen to you but if you kill him, you will not be leaving here so easily.”
Could he take her on? That remained to be seen. Someone who could knock out an entire squad of knights was not someone who should be trifled with.
continued from here : @mistralxsoul
[...]But his biggest concern was the knight she currently had in her hands, holding him by the collar of his shirt and threatening to beat him down with the rest. So, with a loud and commanding tone, Flynn shouts out, “STOP!” as he points his blade in her direction. “Drop him.” She speaks (So she can speak their tongue as well. That makes this easier.) and then has the nerve to tell them that this doesn’t have anything to do with him. He would have to respectfully disagree. “You are assaulting my knights, which means this has everything to do with me. I don’t know what’s going on but right now, you will drop him and surrender yourself for questioning. From there we will determine the situation.”
Tumblr media
This was by far the farthest she had been able to make it from Zaphias before being caught by either knights or concerned citizens. Granted, she had no right being as close to Heliord as she had decidedly gotten, which had initiated the scuffle. It was first a child who had noticed the rustling of her tail under the tattered cloak. Then it was a woman taking a far longer look than she should have. The whispers and stares spread until she felt herself surrounded by knights murmuring about a strange and suspicious individual of her own description.
What should have been an easy out of trying to resolve the issue with words, had turned into an uneven fight the moment one of the men who approached put his arm on her shoulder. Cyra did not take kindly to being touched. Fear rose up in her chest as she spun to move from the knight's grip, and it was from there that the situation escalated. The sound of armored men and women dropping to the ground rang out as each one approached to subdue the creature.
Of the final few that had returned to their feet, and the remaining others who stood by idly while she gripped the collar of the taller armor-clad man. Teeth bared, her claws tearing through the fabric of their tabard, the monster hissed and growled into the man's terrified features before she heard the voice call out behind her.
She had been quick to respond, and so had he.
Her long tail whipped out behind her, arcing in a wide swing as it dusted a dazed woman on the ground behind her. Clawed toes spread and flexed to scrape upon the cobblestone street beneath them as she tucked her fingers farther into the man's protective metal collar. Her fur bristled in response to considering the newcomer's demand.
"Come any closer, and I will kill him." Her voice was filled with venom as she quickly spun the man around. "Let me pass, and I'll leave him be."
Blackened talons gripped the soldier's neck, gently pressing the points in to prick the tender flesh beneath. Nothing fatal, but a warning should things escalate. Cyra wasn't opposed to killing in self defense. If they hadn't approached her the way they did, maybe it wouldn't have frightened her into acting out. Or perhaps, if she hadn't wandered so near to people to begin with, then there was a chance this never would have happened. Beneath the anger that creased her features, there was a terror that gripped her like frost.

♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ Flynn is currently blinking over at Yuri with dem big ol' eyes of his.

●●●●●● | ATTRACTION ●●●●● | AFFECTION ●●●●● | INTEREST ●●●●● | LOYALTY ●●●●● | TRUST
Attraction: Yuri wants a sixth dot sneaked in. As we know he is very attracted to Flynn's eyes and has been since he was seven. Loves his hair like he has since he was seven. When Yuri was seven, he woke up one day and choose Flynn (all the other boys noticed...). Yuri is very attracted to his appearance, voice and personality! He's just... very deeply attracted to Flynn. Oftentimes he may be seen being fidgety about it because he has uncontrollably stomach fuzzies.
Affection: By the time they were teenagers his affection was already through the roof. When things got rocky, he still had affection and hope that Flynn was still the same as always was, even if he couldn't understand what was going on. His affection withstood everything that went on between them though, and even at their worst he was still praising Flynn and trying to keep everyone's opinion of him up. He wants everyone else to also see the best sides of Flynn and nothing else, because he knows Yuri can handle the worst sides privately the same way Flynn can handle him and all Yuri's own worst traits. Yuri also likes to spend as much personal and private time as possible with Flynn, because while he likes being with everyone else with Flynn included, when they're alone, they have their own world to be lost in that nobody else can get into. People can see it, but they can't enter it.
Interest: Even if he literally does not care what the knight are doing, he's always interested in what Flynn is doing. Dumb paperwork, too! He'll be nosy sometimes and look at the work just to complain about it and how dumb it is. Since they share, literally, the same interests, it keeps Yuri's interest in Flynn's activities up because he's curious about someone who shares his values and interests. He's also very interested in seeing what kinds of new things they can do together and he always wants to find something fun to do, since "fun" and "Flynn" don't usually... work.
Loyalty: Yuri would... literally do anything for Flynn. Die or kill for Flynn, and anything in between. Even if he thought Flynn was in the wrong, he would never really lose faith in him. Given that they reached their worst and came out of it even stronger, there's nothing that could really break their bond at this point. They'll have struggles sometimes, but Yuri will always go back to Flynn. Even if they were actively fighting, if something happened in that moment and Flynn was in danger, Yuri would still have his back immediately by instinct and no longer even be processing that they were arguing, no matter how bad it was. Being on Flynn's side is Yuri's first instinct regardless of what goes on between them beforehand.
Trust: He's always trusted Flynn, but post canon verse he has no doubts in his trust. Nothing like in the knights or when Alexei was giving his orders and Yuri had doubts and was unsure what he could trust. Sometimes his trust was shaky, but it was still always there and strong, sort of like a deep intuition that at the end of the day, if Yuri was about to die or even get hurt, Flynn would save him no matter how bad things were between them. He also trusts Flynn with their home as the Commandant, even if he wants more time with Flynn. Early retirement calls!

❝Like most intellectuals, he's intensely stupid.❞ / lmao i'm sorry for her
If the look of exhaustion that washed over his face wasn’t a telltale sign that Flynn was absolutely over today and possibly the week in general, then the sudden slump of his shoulders would have definitely been the next best guess. He wasn’t unfamiliar with nobles deciding to seek him out and tear into him for something that wasn’t even within his realm of control but it always left him rather exhausted nonetheless.
But there was something about a noble playing the ‘education’ card that just made Flynn want to just bury his head into a pillow for a couple of hours and just scream. All too often, a noble loved to brag about how they have received an extended education on politics, military strategies, fine arts– you name it, they apparently studied it. It made it even worse when the Noble knew he was from the Lower Quarter, knew his background and just made assumptions that he didn’t even know half of the things that were being listed.
Nevermind that his own mother received a rather large education herself and had been willing to teach people in the Lower Quarter a rather basic educational course. But he wasn’t about to sit there and defend himself against someone who wasn’t going to bother listening anyway.
So, he would just ride out the storm, listen to the complaints, endure the not-so-subtle digs at his own past status and then when the Noble had enough, they would storm off with a proud huff, as if they had successfully dug into Flynn’s skin and left a permanent scar upon his mind. (When in reality, he was likely to forget their name by the following week.)
But then he heard another voice that snaps him back to attention, shoulders shooting back up as he straightens his posture. Turning on his heel, he spots the young girl wandering over, with parasol in hand as she’s looking towards the retreating noble. All Flynn could really think was that he was simultaneously sad that the man didn’t hear it but glad at the same time. If he had, he would have likely come back for more.
“It seems as if we have a lot of those types that like to hang around the castle. It’s never that much of a big deal but… it really is the biggest time waster… He complains and complains that I’m not magically fixing his problems when he’s the one stopping me from working to begin with– Ah–”
Flynn freezes, cheeks turning a light shade of red as he suddenly remembers who he is and what his own status was. “...Apologies, that was rude of me… I really shouldn’t be saying such things. It’s been a very long day… I assume you were listening to a good majority of that, then?”

“Well, if it isn’t, there is nothing wrong with a tactical retreat.”
If it were a case of overpopulation like Raven suggested, that would likely be the best case scenario. He and Raven were definitely able to clear out some of the monsters between just the two of them and any stragglers that were left behind could be taken care of by The Hunting Blades (or his own Knights, if Harry allowed it.)
Now if it were something that was chasing the other monsters out of the forest, that… was another matter entirely. They would have to be cautious while attempting to find out exactly what monster they were dealing with. Maybe he and Raven could still handle it but… it would be risky. (At least that would be better than the Aer Krene acting up. He was certain that would open up the door to a million other problems.)
His planning would come to an end soon enough as they came across the hoards of monsters fighting amongst each other. The planning, it seemed, would have to wait.
“Always.” He answered, sword already drawn and shield at the ready. “Will you be able to focus on the flying insects if I gain the attention of the wolves?”
Even as Flynn spoke, one of the beasts suddenly turned to them, snarling dangerously as it leered back, ready to pounce. Flynn did not break eye contact and readied himself to parry as a few insects began to shift closer to the pair. Two humans interrupting their territorial stand off was, apparently, not welcomed.
He liked that Flynn read between the lines, because he was getting on the same track of mind as Raven. Was it just overpopulation or.. something more sinister? Well hopefully they'd get the answers to that sooner than later and prayed it was something two of them could deal with on their own, that sure sounded like a pain.. for future him.
❝ yer right.. hmm. ❞
It wasn't like it was impossible for there to be more giganto monsters, the world was pretty big after all, but that was a lot for two people to take on so Raven really hoped Flynn's theory was wrong, unless it was not a beast in itself. A slim chance something had happened with the aer krene at the core of the forest, but then that was really out of his league. Nevertheless they could theorize and speculate all they wanted, though, but the truth wouldn't reveal itself till they arrived at the forest.
❝ well, if ya are right i sure hope it's somethin' handleable... ❞

It wasn't like he didn't consider how much of an inconvenience going alone would have been and that was his original plan. Considered himself pretty lucky that he happened upon the Commandant in the city.
The two of them didn't need to get too far from the city before they happened upon their first bout of monsters. Wolfish beasts act territorial as they fend off the larger insects from the forest. It's a war between monster and if they didn't intervene then humans and krityan would get dragged into it.
❝ what a pain. ❞ Raven sighs, bow now in hand as it snaps open, ❝ ready, flynn? ❞
