It bugs the fuck out of me that gamers, even on this website, are calling this “fake woke” or in fact “too woke” its so genuinely disheartening to see the bad faith arguments coming from people even in my own nearby circles. Ill begin with some concessions, was this entirely necessary? obviously not. Is it welcome? Sure its just a painting! Do i want them to go even further and remove Slutmogs? Hell no but the rest of the dogshit being spewed out on twitter is absolutely insane.  “Blizzard is just trying to save face!” They’re being fucking sued… 3 times??? There’s no conceivable way, that anyone who plays this game and heard of the lawsuit, would just “forget their wrong doings.” The Warcraft team DOESNT think this, corporate doesn’t think this, we don’t think this. Its fucking dumb, there is no psyop to try to mind wave melt our memories. The a game that is known for its meticulous world building and asset use, actually spending resources on the very thing that makes wow so unique is somehow.. a waste? what the actual fuck lmao. If this change wasnt put in.. what do you think the artist would be working on hmm? i can tell you, OTHER PROP ART. IF anything this means they can just use this painting in newer content with how updated it looks. Its like people are completely unaware of how their game is made. “theyre trying to censor the female form!” This isnt even REMOTELY true, send me an ask when they remove slutmogs then ill be right there beside you in saying that blizzard shouldnt just outright censor themselves. but this is faaar far far removed from being problematic cencorship. Let me leave off with what I will bet money on, happened at blizzard offices A team of devs was formed then went searching around going back through wow compiling lists of “sensitive” media, from as simple as this painting, references to dicks and balls, outdated jokes, to references to actual abusers ingame. Brought them all for everyone to see and then one prop artist thought, “y’know updating these old paintings would be cool/ look nice” So they went and did it, and it was approved by the team. AND THATS IT. No one barged into the artists desk demanding they halt what they’re doing for THIS painting. No lawyers showed up saying “remove this or we’re fucked” no Christian censorship takeover of the company is taking place… holy fuck!
