So when I dreamt my parents’ house exploded, I hoped it was a metaphor but a week later a fire climbed the dry scrub uphill and torched the gas lines. My family got out but lost almost everything: photographs, Christmas ornaments, my grandmother’s gold. Though the gift of seeing is something I think I got from her, my mother’s mother, if such a thing can be passed down. A rogue strand of DNA slipped into the chain, a code for here’s what’s coming, for beware. Useless, maybe. Or maybe the way our line survived, a pantry full of extra stores, an escape route cut through the underbrush, a knife at the ready.

All the reports coming from Rafah from the early hours of April 29 are literally identical: "Israel targeted the house of [family name]"

The same title, over and over again.

All within a couple of hours last night, three family homes in Rafah have been struck, killing at least 20, the majority of whom are women and children.

We now know about Project Lavender and we know about Israel's constant surveillance of Gaza so when I tell you that Israel had targeted civilian homes last night in Rafah, you know that there is absolutely no room for questioning Israel's intent here and always.

This bloodbath has gone on for far too long. At the start of this aggression, the school year had barely just started. The academic year ends in just a month. Everyone, from first graders to university seniors, have lost an entire year at least. I say at least considering even if there is a ceasefire today, Israel had destroyed literally all universities in Gaza and damaged over 400 schools. Lest we forget also Israel's deliberate targeting of university professors and academics.

You absolutely cannot mistake the intent behind all of this.
