“That’s because you stop less than halfway through.” Skeptic snorted, falling into a chair.

“Only because you and him make it a competition and suddenly I’m left in the dust as you both start running! I’m not going to jog alone, being alone is lonely.” Cheated’s feathers puffed up as he crossed his arms.

“Being alone is lonely, very intelligent wording there.”

“Fuck you.”

My favorite part when writing characters is banter. I can’t not give them fun banter.

Is there a particular reason it's delivered that way or was it just for the bit, cuz she says it like that in the stream too

The laugh only makes me feel worse.

From how I see it, that is the moment where she realizes how stupid her question is. It doesn't matter why or even if we hate her. Considering we were willing to go THIS far to torture and twist her, there would be no reasoning with our resolve. We would have only pushed her further, given the chance.

She laughs because she knows no amount of anger or resentment to spew would affect us. She has so much emotions whirling inside and her only outlet was never truly an outlet in the first place, because we presumably never cared to begin with. She's stuck in her own spiral of self-grieving and doesn't know how to react in a "proper" way.

How do you deal with art block?

depends on the type. When I get art block, it’s usually because I’m just tired or even burning out. Then, there’s not much to do but take it easy and rest (through suffering and blood and screams of agony, but sometimes, that’s what self-care looks like).

If it’s really just my brain not being able to come up with what draw and/or don’t have the motivation for it despite having the energy, some things that help getting the art gears turning for me:

- Change the canvas and brush colors, maybe even the brush type you usually use. It’s incredible what some small change of pace can do to your brain, it’s so fuckin’ stupid, but it works for me for some fuckin’ reason.

- If you usually draw on traditional tho, changing your materials might also help. Maybe try drawing with a pen, instead of a pencil? Markers? Draw exclusively with color pencils? Changing the surface you draw can also work; before I went to digital, I’d draw on cardboard when, for some reason, the paper didn’t spark any ideas and it somehow worked.

- What something you always enjoy drawing? To me, that’s facial expressions, so I’d just draw a bunch of floating heads with funny expressions. Maybe even just floating faces. If your thing is drawing clothes, for example, why not try just doing a bunch of faceless mannequins in cool outfits? Can’t think of anything you particularly enjoy? That’s alright! Just grab a paper/open a blank canvas and do a bunch of geometrical shapes! Just the act of drawing something can help.

And even if this doesn’t work, that’s OK. Your value as an artist isn’t tied to how much or how consistently you create. You can’t serve from an empty vessel, so take the time to rest and take care of yourself if that’s what you need <3
