“Hollywood is now fine with actresses being powerful, as long as it can maintain some control over how “power” is defined.”  This article is great. Whether you like Melissa’s movies or not, you can’t deny she’s a f’n comedic genius! AND! “This is not just a remarkable run; it is literally a singular one. No other woman or man unaided by a franchise in the last five years has emerged from nowhere to become such a completely dependable movie star, appearing in one successful film after another and regularly creating product that turns a profit, while maintaining a successful foothold in TV as well.”

Ghost in the Shell whitewashing continues to fuel online backlash
Hollywood still is not learning its lesson when it comes to whitewashing and yellow face. A new photo released today shows Scarlett Johansson as Motoko Kusanagi in the upcoming adaptation of Ghost in the Shell, sparking Ming-Na Wen and many others to speak out online. This isn’t even the first example of Hollywood whitewashing this week. Cough cough Marvel.

I am the one that runs from both the living and the dead. Hunted by scavengers, haunted by those I could not protect. So I exist in this wasteland, reduced to one instinct: survive.
