I was asked by the Mean Girls on Broadway Instagram account (@meangirlsbway) to draw something for them to post this week!! I chose a part from I See Stars, because when I saw the show, this part really hit me hard. It shows that we’re stronger together, that just because someone is mean that they’re STILL a person and you should treat them with respect.

There are a lot of really, really great things about being able to drive, Gretchen has come to realise. For one, she’s found it’s a really effective way to kick her anxiety in the ass. Slow down, focus on the road, and the little grey cloud starts to drift away. Two, it means she no longer has to walk to school, or get the bus, or even worse, get the car with Regina. It does mean she can no longer get rides with Janis, but they can carpool sometimes and it’s worth it for number three… She can drive Karen places. To school, home from school, out to the mall, home from the mall.

Mean Girls | September 8, 2019e | Taylor’s last show

AKA Mean Girls on Broadway where everything is the same but Regina says “pussy”

Damn, i only read this and i got chills all over my body. I wish I was there :(

hey! could you describe some moments from the show tonight that really were awesome? like, times where you could truly feel the electricity or something.

Tonight was…… a lot. A lot of emotion (I don’t think I’ve ever cried at Mean Girls so much), but it is definitely in the top four of my favorite-ever performances of MG.

Some highlights:

The screens opening to reveal the Plastics and the audience going absolutely batshit crazy 

Taylor starting to cry during Someone Gets Hurt. It was all downhill from there (for me).

Taylor’s timing and facial expressions for the very end of Fearless when she comes back in to get the Kalteen bars was perhaps the best I’ve seen her do it. It was cracking me up and I don’t usually laugh out loud at that.

Taylor completely breaking during her scene with Jen in the middle of What’s Wrong With Me? (Reprise). She just started laughing and could not get it back together. It was incredibly endearing and Jen was very clearly enjoying it. I laughed until I was crying and then I saw Taylor was legitimately crying and then it was less funny. 

Then Taylor’s scream as she ran offstage continued for approximately 84 years.

WORLD BURN. ONE OF HER BEST. I felt “My name is Regina George / and in case you’re keeping score” throughout my entire body. She decided not to belt out the final note and sang it softly as she wept and it was DEVASTATING. World Burn got an extended standing ovation as Taylor just stood there and cried. I was crying. My friends were crying. Erika was crying. That made me cry more.

“YOU CAN TAKE YOUR FAKE APOLOGY, ROLL IT UP TIGHT, AND SHOVE IT UP YOUR FAT, HAIRY PUSSY.” Like……. she really Did That. On Broadway. Taylor told us at the stage door that she passed Tina immediately afterward and was like lol sorry!

The bathroom scene before spring fling honestly broke my heart. Taylor was struggling to get her lines out starting with “You want to be happy in life Cady?” Erika was tearing up again (she was monumentally unhelpful in me trying not to sob in the front row). It felt like Taylor was saying goodbye to Regina in that moment. I don’t know how else to describe it.

Taylor’s incredibly goofy dancing in Stars is something I’m going to miss so much. It’s one of my favorite parts of the show. It was totally ridiculous and Kevin joined right in. 

Taylor cried during I See Stars so I cried during I See Stars. 

The look on her face right before the lights went out at the end of the show…… I can’t describe it. Like she had just accomplished something monumental but was mourning the journey she took to get there.

Tina Fey ran out with flowers and champagne at curtain call. Taylor just drank right out of the bottle (Champagne.mp3) onstage. 

(Also, Erika tried to purposely upset us further at the stage door by reminiscing about their first rehearsals and time in DC and was not at all sorry about it. She’s lucky she’s cute.)
