Black Twitter Has a Powerful Platform
When seeing social media platforms and what is usually trending, almost always you will find Black Twitter voicing their concerns and opinions on recent political decisions. Most recently, the trials in the Kyle Rittenhouse and Ahmaud Arbery were circulated through Twitter like electricity through a wire and Black Twitter made their voice heard.
Not only does Black Twitter make its voice heard but it a strategic way of showing politicians in power how the black community feels and their concerns with how political and social reform can be handled.
An article by Stereo Williams outlines this strategy in his article “The Power of Black Twitter”, where even in the description of the article he asks the most important question, “But if this constitutes such a strong, galvanizing movement, why is it so marginalized?”
Marginalization is one of the biggest issues among American social issues and some do not recognize it or address it but once we know how to, the issues that Black Twitter and other minority Twitter’s face everyday could be drastically diminished.

Quote
Intersectionality is the belief that oppressions are interlinked and cannot be solved alone.
Merrill Perlman
Intersectionality is something everyone can deal with everyday and multiple forms of discrimination from race, gender, classism and sexism and finding out how to intersect with people who do not share a common sex or race with you could go a long way into fixing the media and social divide between people.

Social media is supposed to be a platform for all to express their opinions on whatever topics they would like, but why is it that minority users tend to see more political topics than white social media users?

Facebook has had a shaky history as of late, but now the social media super-power is under some much deserved criticism after “The Squad” rose to prominence, showing, “The previously unreported debate is an example of how Facebook’s decisions in the name of being neutral and race-blind in fact come at the expense of minorities and particularly people of color.”
