hsmtmts should've stuck with s2’s format imo. the show’s strength wasn't it's hsm callbacks. It was it’s cast. so much was lost from s3&4 when they decided to pivot back towards being a show mocking it’s premise.

s2 is not as solid as s1 writing wise, I'm not even sure it's as solid as s3&4, but it had a lot more depth and cared more about telling genuine stories about these characters. I think that sort of storytelling is much more effective.

they sort of dug themselves into a whole by naming the show high school musical: the musical: the series. should've dropped the musical, imo. then, the show could've continued telling stories about theatre kids without locking itself to the high school musical brand.

I’m sorry no amount of inserted scenes will make me believe that ricky and gina was the plan all along like?? ricky and nini were the heart of the show in the first season! completely get the chaos of having to rewrite things bc one of your leads left the show but I’m just frustrated with with them choosing to minimize just how much ricky and nini meant to each other.

when I realised I was queer, I spent the next year devoting myself to the religion I was raised in. I wanted to clean myself, make myself better. It was not healthy. I don’t want to speculate what’s happening to Joshua Bassett. I don’t know him personally. I don’t know how long he’s felt this way. maybe he’s alright. but I can’t help but feel concerned.
