My owl and my belief. Had to share! I see an owl when I face any dilemma in life. He brings comfort. He has visited me in Choulou 😊. Blessed and thankful to be here ❤

Sunday's are now spent lazily by the river...well..lazily for the humans! Nature feels so good 😊. I had forgotten 😍. I want to know what every plant and tree is and I want to know what the local people collect from the land. Small things are bringing so much pleasure..last night I watched a hedgehog walk up the lane by my gate. He was having a great time sniffing and scurrying around 😊. An old man on his bright blue tractor drove past this morning with a huge smile and a wave. Oh and I also went out for kindling wood..basket in hand! Today I walked the dogs along a new track and it was just us..no one else for miles. It struck me that at that precise moment in time there was no one else on earth doing this. Cherished times 😍

The lovely Choulou waterfall..just a 10 minute walk from our house! I have tapped back into my creativity by doing my first dog portrait. We are now settled into our routine and for the first time in years I look forward to coming home every day after work. The swifts have finished their nest so laying time must be soon. The trees are all coming into blossom and the bird song is incredible. When all you hear is nature it stirs something in you...just bliss.

Feeding my Soul
We have now been living in Choulou for just over a week.  The move itself was a challenge as all moves are.  We were both then knocked out by a virus so time was needed to recover.  My discoveries so far have been lovely...let me share a few....in the remote villages your household rubbish collection is personalised!!  You just pop your bin outside your house and twice a week it is collected.  Fruit and vegetables can be purchased from the back of a local farmers truck as can fish....we love fish!!  Just need to find out which day he comes.  Everyone meets you with a smile and a “Ya”, Hello in English. Our log burner is a godsend as at night the temperature drops so much compared to the coast.  We have our own orange tree and each day I sit and eat a freshly picked one.  They are just gorgeous.  We have a Swift’s nest and it is almost time for laying to begin.  All we hear are birds, nothing else and it is bliss.  Today we saw our first black snake crawling off ahead of us as we walked, they are not dangerous, phew!  There seem to be mosquitos the size of flying saucers which is a novelty, this is to be expected when living so close to a river.  There are countless lanes winding throughout the stunning countryside.  Friends who enjoy walking have already visited and enjoyed their first experience of Choulou.  We do not have a shop but the local coffee shop will get you milk and bread by the next day if you are not driving to the nearest place. We drove through the next village of Lemona today which is home to Cyprus’s well known Tsangarides Winery.  Another stunning gem!  We also have Armageti village close by and I understand there are stables there.  Who knows?  Maybe I will be tempted to explore on horseback...gulp!
My Soul is filling up with peace and nature and I feel the beauty deeply.  I needed this and am truly blessed to be living this way.

Just 3 more days until we move into our new home. We took our dogs yesterday to show them. They loved their walk in the countryside...new smells...new tracks and new adventures. Ryan has been trying out some photography and the above picture shows one of many beautiful shots he took. I have dusted off my 24 year old Canon with film and am rediscovering photography too! Many more pictures and tales coming soon 😊.

3 WEEKS TO GO.
As our new life drawers closer, my anticipation mounts.  I have a habit of making myself unwell when I become overly excited about an upcoming event! lol  I have been suffering with a touch of insomnia which is a first for me...proof that this move is special as the thoughts that keep me awake are blissful thoughts.  Ideas keep coming and they are all within my grasp.
Life in our apartment has run its course and our two dogs also deserve this move.  My desire to write grows every day and I find myself scribbling furiously in my notebook more and more.  I am loving it and for the first time in a very long time I feel like I am living and creating a life I am already in love with.
Hold on to that crazy idea that pops into your mind...run with it....who knows where it will take you!
More Soon.......

A Brief Background.
On 27th August 2007, Ryan and I packed up our “normal” UK lives and flew to Cyprus to begin an adventure.  Ryan was just 7 years old and I was 39.  I had lived in Cyprus as a child for 3 years and I wanted to recreate the free and safe childhood I had for Ryan.  We are still here and we love our Mediterranean island.  But for me, finding my “home” is more than finding the bricks and mortar or the location.  I have to “feel” at home, emotionally and spiritually.
Life over the last 11 years has taught me stuff I didn’t really want to learn but now all the pennies have dropped into place, all the lessons make sense and I am truly grateful for them.  I know with all my being that finding Choulou, pronounced Hooloo, was no coincidence.  It is meant.  It has stirred up a passion for life that I have never experienced.  I am blessed to work as a therapist and I will always want to do this but now I want to see what else I am capable of.  Time to explore life and me!
Following a series of miraculous events in a very short space of time, we are now looking forward to a new adventure in this almost deserted historical and magical village.
Come with us as we prepare for the move and settle in to our new life.
The Universe really does listen and deliver..just trust and believe!
