I took the drums and guitar off of Don’t Stop Me Now so you could appreciate the vocal work of Freddy Mercury in a more stripped down context
its just like… there’s omething crazy about this guys voice, what he’s doing with it, and the production of the vocals is really good obviously, perfect amount of reverb, the harmonies are all perfectly recorded and if you catch it a couple of times they throw in a seperate track that’s phased… just… a very interesting choice… im stoned
Nick comforts June time and time again…and finally lets June comfort him ❤️
I absolutely adore how they comfort one another. With empathy, presence, touch, and attunement. As usual with these two, hardly any words required. F’ing gorgeous in such an ugly world.
Just completed and submitted the final version of my Extended Essay !!! °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°
So I compiled lists of words that I found super super useful in making it easier for me to finish any essay !! Here is a masterpost of some sort with transition words + key vocabs grouped together for easy access as well as an IB IOC ‘cheat sheet’ I used for my english LAL orals last year (though most commentaries follow a similar structure so its generalisable) ~
Good luck with your essays !!!
… oops just realised I forgot to bullet point one of the lists
John explaining the concepts of birthdays and the sun to Sean, 1979.
“You have to be each number for a whole year, and a year is three hundred and sixty five days. That’s how long a year is, three hundred and sixty five days.”
“Oh. Well. I love you.”
“I love you too, sweetheart.”
Roger Taylor has written so many songs about political and social issues and more people need to know about them!!
I got an ask from @gingercootieveggie about this so I decided to make it into a post. Here’s some highlights of his:
Nazis 1994 - this is probably his most well known one. It’s quite an angry song about neo-nazis and the denial of the holocaust, and it was actually considered ‘too controversial’ to play on the radio which made Roger obviously pretty pissed off. The music video is very good too, and especially haunting when you realise the numbers ticking away in the bottom corner is actually a body count.
Surrender - this one’s about domestic violence, to which Roger is actually a survivor of. To quote him: “it’s not talked about….. as if it’s something to be ashamed of and it shouldn’t be, and it should be exposed and talked about.”
New dark ages - AIDS and safe sex. A favourite of mine
Old men - about old crusty men in politics and their misuse of power
People on streets - poverty and calling out rich people for not doing anything about it
Abandonfire - this is about nuclear war. He’s very much a pacifist, despite his reputation for having a bit of a temper. I think a lot of that reputation is just misunderstood because he’s pretty outspoken and doesn’t sugarcoat what he’s feeling. You’ve probably seen the pictures of him wearing the ‘worldwide nuclear ban NOW’ shirt in concerts in big letters (which, big mood) so it’s obviously something he absolutely despises and feels is important.
The unblinking eye (everything is broken) - basically calling out governments for being assholes about everything from taxes to war to over surveillance
Foreign sand - segregation
Hand of fools - questioning the validity and necessity of war directed particularly towards the conflict in the gulf at the time
Freedom train - racism
I got most of these from the book ‘QUEEN complete works’ which is about every song ever written by the band members.
