17 January 2021 via Cayman Compass: “I would like to clarify that the person in my video, which was stolen from my private Instagram, is not Miss Cayman. I am genuinely sorry for any confusion my foolish attempt at humour may have caused.” (Regarding leaked finsta video)

21 January 2021 via US Weekly: “These assertions about Mr. Hammer are patently untrue. Any interactions with this person, or any partner of his, were completely consensual in that they were fully discussed, agreed upon, and mutually participatory. The stories being perpetuated in the media are a misguided attempt to present a one-sided narrative with the goal of tarnishing Mr. Hammer’s reputation, and communications from the individuals involved prove that.” (Statement also used in March 2021)

20 March 2021 via Daily Mail: “Effie’s own correspondence with Mr. Hammer undermines and refutes her outrageous allegations. As recently as July 18, 2020, Effie sent graphic texts to Mr. Hammer telling him what she wanted him to do to her. Mr. Hammer responded making it clear that he did not want to maintain that type of relationship with her. The screenshot below is just one of hundreds Effie sent to Mr. Hammer.‘It was never Mr. Hammer’s intention to embarrass or expose Effie’s fetishes or kinky sexual desires, but she has now escalated this matter to another level by hiring a civil lawyer to host a public press conference. The scandal began on 31 December 2020, when an Instagram account titled houseofeffie uploaded an exotic dancing video, which appeared to feature a voiceover by Hammer. This generated speculation and during the first week of January 2021, the woman running this account began to leak unverified DMs. What initially seemed like an expose of a kink-based sexual affair, turned to claims of sexual assault from around January 10-11.

Hammer was quarantining on the Cayman Islands from December 18 - January 1. He last posted to Instagram on 2 January 2021 and Twitter on 7 January 2021.

11 January 2021 - The Sun: “Why is Armie Hammer Trending?”

12-13 January 2021 - Daily Mail reports on leaked DMs. Uses HouseofEffie screenshots and a tweet from Jessica Ciencin Henriquez stating: “If you are still questioning whether or not those Armie Hammer DMs are real (and they are) maybe you should start questioning why we live in a culture willing to give abusers the benefit of the doubt instead of victims”

13 January 2021 - Page Six brings back old interview comments from Hammer about enjoying rough sex/a violent ex-girlfriend.

15 January 2021 - Daily Mail reveals leaked private Instagram account.

17 January 2021- Pedestrian TV brings back more old tweets and Instagram photos. Implies cooking steak and pork relates to…cannibalism. Inexplicably highlights a 2016 tweet from Hammer criticizing Donald Trump’s callous reaction to being accused by numerous women.

Early January 2021, Instagram celebrity gossip page DeuxMoi regularly posted on their daily story updates encouraging people to check out the leaked DMs on other platforms like Twitter, and posted at least one cropped screenshot of a leaked DM. They were a primary instigator in generating and directing attention toward the leaked DMs. Google images has many screencaps.

Late January 2021- blogger TheZenBlonde goes viral on Tik Tok with several videos detailing the allegations and DMs. She reveals she is close friends with Hammer’s estranged aunt, Casey, who is in the process of re-releasing her 2015 book ‘Surviving My Birthright’.

There were several unverified, anonymous names circulating in January, all on social media: milkandhoneyroses (later found to be catfishing/using another woman’s images and was called out on Twitter by the woman), houseofregret (claimed Hammer attacked her in 2019 but was not going to report anything or go public, she fell out almost instantly with Effie, vanished for months then reappeared briefly in November before vanishing again), and Velvet (appears to have been debunked as a catfish too). A woman named Ellie Beers Fallon also posted an Instagram story claiming she was a victim but has said nothing further in approx 10 months now.
