Hi, radio silence while I figured shit out, and here's the three things I want to say absolutely and for certain:

First, I stand with Palestine. This was never in question; it was just whether I said it in a way that inadvertently hurt somebody else. Which, I'm sure I did at some point because I rarely think before reblogging, and sometimes I really should. But too many innocent Palestinians have died for me not to stand up and say "this should not be happening". If anything, I'm giving too little support.

Second, I support Jews. Again, never actually in question. It's just that sometimes the Israel-Palestine conflict gets spun as Jews-Palestine or Jews-Muslims, and again, I don't always read the entire post before I reblog. So, if that's hurt someone, I apologize.

Third, I've been off Tumblr for like... a month? And it has been great. I miss the chaos and some of the people and the fanart, but I can't say I miss it overall. So I'm deleting this app (not my account, just the most convenient access point) again.

On the off chance I've made any good enough friends to want to find me for anything, send a DM and I'll get an email notification.

Happy International Women's Day to the women in my phone

...who are not TERFs like the OP of that post going around that says:

"happy international women's day to the women in my phone :) ❤️"

In fact, happy International Women's Day to women who are decent people in general; on a personal level, I have no happy wishes for bigots except a sincere "get well soon".

That said! IWD is about uplifting all women (that includes me, a trans woman), and on a systemic level, I do wish well for all (that includes TERFy OP, because we don't get to pick and choose; that's not how equality works).

In fact, this year's official IWD theme is #InspireInclusion.

Just, if while we're making the system less oppressive, we could also have less oppressive people in the system, that would be very nice.

So, I hope that TERFy OP of the other post makes tea that is too hot for her to drink then forgets it until it is too cold; I hope she gets her socks wet; I hope she forgets to restock her favourite snack item.

But I also hope (on an intellectual and practical level even if not emotional) that she has secure safe housing, free healthcare to meet her needs, an adequate income, and so forth. May she live to see a world free from misogyny—including her own.

you know that tumblr post that goes "I don't want my fantasy media to be realistic, I want it to be convincing"?

I think a corollary to this is I don't want my fandom experiences to be unique, I want them to be sincere

That's why I enjoy reading the same tropes over and over again. Those authors are writing those stories from a genuine love of both the tropes and the characters.

It's why I enjoy 17 gif sets about the same 3-second interaction on screen. Each one of those sets was pulled and recoloured and captioned and adjusted because each one of those gif makers wanted to capture that moment and celebrate it.

It's why every "I'm glad you enjoyed it" reply makes me smile when I get one on a comment I left. Because I know replying to comments is hard and kind of awkward, but I also know that the author really *is* glad and I'm happy that I could let them know I enjoyed their work.

I love things that are new, sure. But I also love things that have been done a million times already because I know the person doing it loves that thing too. I love the love they're showing. I love the genuine joy and celebration and community it fills me with.
