There's a whole bunch of TikTok drama at the moment after someone posted a video asking "would you rather be alone in the woods with a bear or a strange man?"

And the men are *very upset* that nearly every woman replied with "....obviously a bear."

It's honestly wild (I think some of these guys think that bears are movie monsters, craving human flesh).

But it boils down to this- they want you to expect the worst from the bear and the best from the stranger, and they are deeply offended that this isn't the case. 🤷

#yall really don’t know shit about bears do you #by and large they really just wanna be left the fuck alone #you don’t bother them and they won’t bother you #a man on the other hand? #i have absolutely NO idea what he’ll be like and that uncertainty combined with isolation is a danger to me #BECAUSE #statistically men are more likely to hurt a woman #than bears are to attack a human #like JUST for black bears you’re looking at roughly attack per year #MAYBE #MEANWHILE #so 40% of women experience intimate partner violence a year #AND THATS JUST INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE #which yes #is the most common kind of gendered violence #BUT NEARLY HALF OF WOMEN EXPERIENCE VIOLENCE #YOU DONT GET THOSE NUMBERS IN HUMAN VS BEAR ENCOUNTERS #for fucks sake #also consider that if you are a man and getting mad about this #YOU are part of the problem and instead of being personally offended that some hypothetical woman would rather be in a forest with a bear #than you. MAYBE BE MAD THAT SOCIETY HAS MADE WOMEN FEEL THIS WAY #btw I forgot to mention that those are just US statistics so obviously things could be better in other countries or regions #i just chose the US bc I’m American and i most familiar with the bears that inhabit this territory
