Having a normal one about Protoman today....

the article in the 'Capcom Friendly Club’s mail magazine (Autumn 1996)' [Translation here] talking about Protoman and the backstory unveiled in it.

He wasn't built for combat, Dr. Light built him just because- maybe as a test to prove how advanced Light could make an AI. (I still find it sweet that he didn't give up on making humanoid robots after Blues ran away, instead opting to make 2 more kids before deciding 'welp I should probably make the construction ones huh?')

I think about MM3 revamped a lot too in regards to Protoman. He works for Wily of course, but by the end of it he reveals himself and is helping Megaman. I have to assume that he's been keeping a keen eye on him through his adventuring through space. The Breakman battle feels more like a distraction ploy than an actual battle...

Then in megaman 4, Wily doesn't seem to suspect that Protoman is on the fence, for he trusts that Protoman will still work for him. However, when he swoops in and rescues Kalinka, Wily absolutely knows that Protoman's allegiance is not in his favor (and then in MM5 he attempts to paint Blues in a bad light as revenge).

I wonder if Protoman feels a little guilty that Wily working on him opened the door for Wily to make his own robot masters...

Recently I've revisited the OST for Lionhead Studio's 'Black and White(2001)', and its reminding me of how fun that game was. Its a game with little no to UI where you play as a god with the goal to either destroy or convert everyone to your side.

There's been no re-releases of the game since 2001, and there's not legal way of getting it shy of owning a CD and running a windows XP computer (however, there are other ways of getting it, and there's plenty of patches to make it run on modern hardware).

If it ever gets re-released, I'm freaking buying it in a heartbeat. I still have the CD and still play it sometimes, but I would defo get it for other people and myself.
