BREAKING NEWS: Protection Officers for #PNG AntiCorruption Boss disarmed
Sam Koim
This morning, some policemen in truck loads came and disarmed my close protection officers and are taken to Boroko Police station. I am yet to know the details but did talk to the Acting MetSup.
Coincidentally, As I was driving out of my home, I saw two land cruisers parked and some young men of a particular ethnic group taking snapshots of my car using their cellphone.
If what they have done is not enough and want me, if they still don't believe in court orders restraining them, why not request and I come in. I'm prepared to be locked up in cells for standing up for the rule of law and the country. Why targeting their own policemen and taking pictures of my car? Just simply come take me. Am harmless.
Am prepared to pay the price for this country.

The National Newspaper Publishes Misleading story on UPNG Clash

STUDENT CLASH OVER PROTEST
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
The National - Wednesday, July 9, 2014
The public and citizens of Papua New Guinea must be cleared that the media report on the national today is misleading and politically biased. I would like to assure you all citizens and clear the air of doubts that the media may have made you believe this morning. Before I point out the misleading statements I must boldly assure that UPNG is at HALT and we the students standing in unity fighting for the unfortunate and silent majority of our nation until the RULE OF LAW is respected and the PM stand down.
The misleading or biased reports are: 1): Student leader verbally attacked SRC President Bobby Yupi ---- This is totally misleading and frustrating. We the student body were waiting for the SRC President to address us. Failure to do so and giving unnecessary delaying tactics by the SRC President led to the clash between the student body and few interest groups from Southern Highlands and Hela.
2): Some male students armed with bush knives chasing each other------- We were not in a war or fight. We as intellectuals of the premier university gathered to stage a in-house protest. The SRC president with his own intention organised with his mobs and came with bush knives. It is the SRC President who was the first person to take out a bush knife from a nearby Toyota Land Cruiser (10 seater) and started chasing the unarmed students.
3): A reliable source confirmed that the administration would not allow boycott of classes ------ the national must assure the public that from which reliable source does it get that information. Every attempts made to contact the Administration yesterday was unsuccessful. Who else will provide such sensitive information. Same on the national for misleading the public and putting up your own information. I must assure the public that the administration will address the students basing on the referendum this morning around 11 o'clock and UPNG will still strike despite.
4): The source said that under the by laws of the university, at least two thirds majority were required -------- According to the vote of referendum conducted by the electoral commission on Monday a sampla population of around 2000 students voted. From the counting and results showed that 1200 plus voted for protest and les than 600 voted against protest. Thus the two third majority did rule and the numbers proved it.
To all fellow citizens and students all around the nation. We are in the course of sacrificing our future which is our education because the very constitution that underpins all the functions of this nation is being abused by one man. Even our representatives the MPs are turning blind eyes. Education, degree and life means nothing to us when we see our future is going to the hands of dogs. You can study hard as much as you can and get a degree but your qualifications will have no meaning in a country that have no law. We see that our country is going to turn into a cowboy country thus we have to stand up sacrificing our education. Thus we ask you all students and citizens to stand up with us and fight against this corrupt issue once and for all.
UPNG FOR PNG----MAY GOD HELP US SAVE PNG.

Lawyer Emmanuel Solwai explains the issue of the Arrest Warrant: #PNG  #ArrestPeter
Team Peter has stated time and time again that the Police were wrong to apply for and obtain a Warrant of Arrest for Peter. Their case was; invite Peter to the Police Station, question him, and if the Police feel there is sufficient evidence to charge him, then charge him. Even Peter himself has said that he would be willing to go to the Police Station for questioning if the Warrant of Arrest were set aside.
Most laypeople would have been hoodwinked by Team Peter into believing that the Warrant of Arrest should not have been issued.
The fact is, in most cases, Police do not need a Warrant of Arrest for a person to be brought to the Police Station to be questioned, and arrested. But if the Police want to arrest a person for OFFICIAL CORRUPTION, it is mandatory that Police apply for and obtain a Warrant of Arrest before arresting the suspect.
Let me reproduce the provision of the Criminial Code Act
87. OFFICIAL CORRUPTION
(1) A person who - (a) being - (i) employed in the Public Service, or the holder of any public office; and  (ii) charged with the performance of any duty by virtue of that employment or office, (not being a duty touching the administration of justice), corruptly asks, receives or obtains, or agrees or attempts to receive or obtain, any property or benefit for himself or any other person on account of anything done or omitted to be done, or to be done or omitted to be done by him in the discharge of the duties of his office; or
(b) corruptly gives, confers or procures, or promises or offers to give or confer, or to procure or attempt to procure, to, on or for any person, any property or benefit on account of any such act or ommission on the part of a person in the Public Service or holding a public office,
is guilty of a crime.
Penalty: Imprisonment for a term not exceeding seven years, and a fine at the discretion of the court.
(2) A PERSON SHALL NOT BE ARRESTED WITHOUT WARRANT FOR AN OFFENCE AGAINST SUBSECTION (1).
The Police were only following what the law set out. They would have gotten the Warrant of Arrest if they thought they would have wanted to consider the possibility of arresting him for Official Corruption.
So, Team Peter, stop the bullshit, the Warrant of Arrest is MANDATORY if the Police are considering the possibility of arresting Peter with Official Corruption.

TELLING THE ONEILL-PARAKA SAGA IN UNDER 6 MINUTES #PNG #ARRESTPETER
In 2012, Sir Arnold Amet, asked Peter O'Neill (who was Prime Minister after removing Somare) about the Paraka payments. Then, O'Neill seemed ambivalent to the bills. In 2013 though, Opposition Leader Belden Namah tabled a letter in Parliament that incriminated O'Neill. Namah's revelations of the O'Neill connection would set forth a chain of events leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant to against Peter O'Neill in 2014. O'Neill has since been defying the warrant. In this video a series of questions are asked to the O'Neill Government. What comes out shows how some politicians are straight-faced lairs. How does the public know they are being lied to? Fortunately we can now capture their lies on video for the world to see. BREAKING NEWS: #PNG PM suffers another blow in Court
via  Sam Koim
The Wheels of Justice continue to Turn in favour of the rule of law. Just now, the National Court per Justice Ambeng Kandakasi issued interim restraining order restraining the Police Commissioner Geoffrey Vaki from interfering with the Police investigations until next Tuesday.  Submissions by Mr Shepherd of counsel for Commissioner Vaki to also have warrant of arrest against Prime Minister O'Neill stayed were refused by His Honour saying that that very issue was subject of many court proceedings from District Court to Supreme Court.  His Honour made some very important remarks/observations about what's happening. Hope the media picked it up. Let's see what the District Court would say this afternoon at 1:30pm.

Suspended #PNG cop says “No man is above the law”
By Thomas Eluh Assistant Commissioner of Police - Suspended
To use a rugby league analogy, my suspension can be likened to that of a half-back being sin-binned by his own captain in the crucial stages of the game. This is rather unheard of in the history of rugby league and especially in the 126 year history of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary.
Commissioner Geoffrey Vaki can talk and try to justify himself till the sun freezes over but he cannot fool the people of Papua New Guinea. He is now being seen as a puppet conveniently appointed to prevent Prime Minister Peter O’Neill from submitting himself to the rule of law. How can Vaki ask us to give him the benefit of doubt when prior to officially taking office and without receiving any briefing from myself and my investigators he issued instructions to consent to retraining orders being sought by the Prime Minister’s lawyer against police from arresting the Prime Minister?
How can he expect us to trust him now that he has applied to the District Court to set aside the warrant of arrest on the Prime Minister? I don’t know who is advising him but this is a total abuse of process. The National Court made it clear that the Warrant of Arrest is in order. The National Court did not find officers involved in the investigation as rogue police officers, nor did it find one shred of evidence that the investigation was politically motivated. How then can you go to a lower court to overturn something that the higher court has recognised?
These are actions of a man who not only is irrational but one whose sense of balance, justice and fairness is now highly questionable. These are actions of a man who has compromised everything that he stood for. Please let me inform the people of Papua New Guinea that this is not about my ambition for position and power. If either myself, former Commissioner Sir Toami Kulunga or former Deputy Police Commissioner Simon Kauba were hungry for power and position one of us would be Commissioner and the Prime Minister would not have been invited in for the interview. We invited the Prime Minister to come in for the interview and we lost our jobs.
As I have mentioned, this is not the time and place to argue our case. We are honest, committed career professional law enforcement officers and our actions will be justified and vindicated in a court of law, not in the media or over the internet.
Everyone must realise that this is no longer a case of the Prime Minister being guilty or innocent. It is not about being right or wrong. That is for the court to say. This is about whether Prime Minister O’Neill, the Chief Executive Officer of Papua New Guinea respects the laws of our country and more importantly, whether he will subject himself to the same law, regardless of how high and mighty he thinks he is.
The world is watching with grave concern. And as the prime minister himself so correctly stated, this is denting investor confidence. But not for the reasons he stated. And contrary to what he has stated, there is no political crisis. The issue here is simple and that is one man manipulating the government as well as the instruments of state, especially police to not subject himself to the law and due process. The Prime Minister has not understood the serious implications for PNG by his refusal to submit himself to the law. The message he is sending to foreign investors and citizens alike is that there is no rule of law and that their investment and lives are not safe.
I am not sensationalising matters here when I say that the country’s future as an independent functioning democracy hangs in the balance because of one man’s refusal to submit himself to the rule of law. There is a saying that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Absolute power also makes people arrogant and blind to the implications of their actions and inactions. What is stopping O’Neill, the elected members of parliament, Vaki and the policemen supporting him from seeing what the real issue is and what the implications are for PNG as a nation?
As I have said in a previous statement, the police service has gone to the dogs. Where are the commissioned officers? Where is the police union? Is there anyone else out there who has the courage and the heart to do what is right for the country or are we going to allow our country to be thrown into a state of lawlessness by one man's stubboness?
I stand committed in my fight, not for wealth or position, nor for power but for the rule of law to stand supreme because it is upon this that PNG exists and through this that we enjoy our peace, freedom and well-being.
