EDSA REVOLUTION OF 1986 The beginning of a new scene in the developing story of contemporary Philippine literature is marked by the year 1986. • It saw the end of the dictatorship that President Marcos imposed on September 21, 1972, when he declared martial law in the Philippines, beginning a regime that not only repressed writers' rights to free expression but also created circumstances that made collaboration and cooptation convenient options for artists vying for recognition and survival. EDSA REVOLUTION OF 1986 • Even in the legal press, writing under the martial law system was marked by militancy and belligerence. The political underground culture provided much of the heat and direction for poetry theater, especially following Ninoy Aquino's 1983 murder.

Jose Maria Hernandez is a writer and teacher. He studied writing and acting in America. His famous play is Panday Pira, a historical play with 3 acts.
The other plays written by Jose Ma. Hernandez is The Olive Garden, a play based on the Bible; Night Wind, Sunrise in the Farm, The Empty House, Prelude to Dapitan, and White Sunday.
The play White Sunday won the Palanca Memorial Award in literature.

Soc Rodrigo
In honor of in the struggle against the dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos, his name was inscribed on the Wall of Remembrance at the Bantayog ng mga Bayani in 1998 - the year in which he died.[1][2] A national cultural award named in his honor, the Gawad Soc Rodrigo is given by the Philippines' Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) and National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).

2 REMARKABLE WRITERS IN PERIOD OF NEW SOCIETY
Ponciano Pineda
Filipino author, educator, linguist, and attorney Ponciano B. Peralta Pineda also practices law. Due to his support for the creation of a commission under Section 9 of the Philippine Constitution, Ponciano Pineda is regarded as the "Father of the Commission on Filipino Language"[1].
From 1971 to 1999, he served as the director of the Commission on the Filipino Language, formerly known as the Surian ng Wikang Pambansa (Filipino: Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino). Pineda began sociolinguistic studies to broaden the Filipino language under his direction. The Filipino language's orthographic reform is another of them. Under Pineda, the language policy underwent some significant changes, including the introduction of bilingual education in 1974, the declaration of Filipino as the nation's official language in 1983, and the creation of the 28-letter Filipino alphabet.

Although there was no formal study in writing, he was able to write and contribute to Filipino literature beautiful poems, short stories, novels and essays.
His poems collected in the Nature collection are grouped into eight: Free, Moving, Image of Life, Pulse of Love, Strong of Faith, Sign of Hope, Open to the Path of Greatness and Blood in the Light of Sun.
The honors achieved by Aniceto F. Silvestre in writing poetry are four First Prizes (before the war); a Third Prize (during the Commonwealth government); a First Prize (10th year of the Republic of the Philippines); and a First Prize in the Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature in 1969.

Carlo Magno Jose Caparas (born December 15, 1948) is a Filipino comic strip creator and writer-turned film director and producer.
