I need a pathetic man to fall into my lap like Marmaduke Bonthrop Shelmerdine, Esquire does for Orlando. Virginia Woolf was cooking there

I donât love the label bisexual (or any labels). I just dig ladies and dudes. But in this world you need a label to interact with people and I am so tired. Foucault where are you when I need you

do you think, for a potato chip, being dipped in an onion-based condiment is like seeing an old friend for the first time in years, both of you fundamentally changed and soon destined to die but nonetheless still here in this moment?

Just watched blue eye samurai and I think the writing overall is just superb, but one scene I donât see people talking about is the one where Fowler is explaining his childhood in Ireland during a manufactured famine to Heiji⊠this backstory⊠THIS is the scene that makes his awareness of the brutality of âwhite devilsâ in-character and makes sense. It explains his plain embracement of the villainous label. He knows first-hand the effects of colonizationâif the events of the show take place in the mid 1600s, Ireland had recently been completely reconquered and colonized by England. The Stuart dynasty, King James I, had just started. This is his motive for becoming a smuggler, for wanting the moneyâthe lacking and starvation that drove him to cannibalism. Itâs just such a rich villain motivation and backstory, SO much more nuanced than how he could have been instead written as âBritish man who wants to colonize Japan because British people colonize :pâ. Heâs still white, still villainous and unforgivable, still benefitting from that privileged position, but DAMN! I just did not expect this villain to be Irish. Idc Kenneth Branagh devoured that voice acting performance. Perfectly encapsulated why Fowler became so numb, so ruthless.

mind you, i havenât watched the extended edition of the return of the king (yet) but i will say the one thing they donât get across at all in the lotr movies is how legolas and gimli are like. freaks in middle earth because of how much they love each other. you canât go like 20 pages in the two towers without someone looking at their friendship and going âdamn those two are fucking weirdâ
