loccentchoi:
Opening the tour bus door, Tendo looked at though he might have just gotten out of bed, his hair was slightly mussed and there was a sort of grogginess to the way he stared at Newt blankly for several moments. He sniffed. Eyes met the six pack and the door opened wider. “Come on in, buddy.” Tendo invited, stepping back to allow Newt up the narrow steps onto the bus.
"Sorry about the mess, I haven’t had much chance to clean up. What brings you my way? You finally get tired of Hermann lecturing you on tour bus etiquette?" Pushing several piles of papers into one large pile and placing two laptops on top of them, Tendo cleared a space at the little table and gestured. "Make yourself at home."
The tech officer headed into the back of the bus and returned with a bottle opener and a plush kaiju. “I think you left this here? Or one of those girls did, but I assume it’s for you, either way. I try not to get into bed with the enemy.” Tendo grinned as he sat across the table from Newt.
Newt glanced around as he entered the bus, noting the same state of mess in Tendo's temporary living space that was similar to his own. "No, it's cool." The scientist gingerly placed the beers on the just-cleared space on the table before sitting down on one of the two seats.
"Erm, well, sorry for having to deal with me just now." Newt blurted out, and made a passing gesture at the drinks he brought. Still, he barked out a laugh at Tendo's words, and relieved the plush from Tendo's hands.
He took the bottle opener from the other and lifted the caps of two beers before sliding one to the tech. "I don't think it's possible to sleep with a Kaiju, Tendo." Though the scientist knew about 'toys' regarding such creatures, (Newt heard some even were made of real Kaiju parts). Toys which he did not have, no matter what lies and slander Hermann might spread. "And besides, they're all either dead or trapped in the Anteverse if it still exists." Newt hoped that they all perished though, one apocalypse was enough for Earth. Also, it sucked for the Kaiju to be created for only destruction, and some would despise him, but he pitied them because of that. They could have been so much greater, and kinder, and not toxic or destructive, but alas...

"Pleasure to meet you Newt." Yancy held his hand out to shake the scientist’s.
Yancy’s eyes couldn’t help but wander around the lab, looking at all the various things, most of him not know what they were. “I assume you’ve been informed on why I’m here, and what to do?”
Newton shook the hand offered and nodded at the query. "Yeah, uh... Anything that you're not comfortable with that I should know right of the bat?" He didn't want to go poking and prodding at unwanted areas, but he supposed that this wasn't exactly in his comfort zone seeing as Yancy kept fidgeting.
The scientist then moved away, pulling plastic gloves from the dispenser and slotting his hands inside. Newt gestured for the older Becket to sit on the metal table that he had cleared and sanitised earlier in preparation for the pilot. He reached over one of the smaller tables to grab the files of Yancy's medical accessments, including his X-Rays and various other notes from various doctors. "I need you to remove your shirt... Do you want an anaesthetic during my examination?"

botokineticdetective:
Thursday considered his question. “No, not really anything I can share. Of the more interesting ones anyway. Maybe if I’d known you for more than ten minutes.” And she’d already lost him. She’d dealt with enough teenagers to recognize that vacant look on his face. Thursday smirked, and waited for him to come back out of his own head again.
Tumblr media
Even prepared, she still jumped at his outburst, then laughed a little. “Need a ride rockstar? Because I’m going to go ahead and guess you need more than a screwdriver and trowel to get that done.” Which were about as far as her supplies went concerning tools.
Tumblr media
A huge grin crossed his face at the word 'rockstar', "If you aren't too busy that is?" Newt knew for a fact that it was going to take some serious equipment for him to get the job done, and if Thursday wasn't offering him a ride, he would need to take a cab in the busy streets. God knows that there was bound to be heavy traffic at this hour.
He didn't want to bother her if she had a meeting to get to, or detective work that needed doing. Still, he was grateful for the offer either way, and the scientist's approval for the other had already increased exponentially at the nickname.

"Now that’s the question of the hour isn’t it, could one build such a device?"
"Remove one threat to open the door for another."
"Curious."
"Observers, ones who find your experiment."
"Concerning. Opening the door for unidentified variables."
"Leads to chaos once they are added to the equation."
The male and female bounced off of each other continuing to look at his work, Robert finally puts the clipboard down and joins his sister at the board. The formula’s seemed to work around the displacement of particles allowing for space to be bent and allow the opening of dimensional rift. The Lutece Tear altered time, allowing for the possibility space to be seen without the affect of an observer…a true feat no one would ever acknowledge since the information was lost forever, well no beyond most’s reach to be more precise.
Tumblr media
"You're talking about the Kaiju threat? So you're saying if I do this, more things with come through?" Newt was certainly an optimistic, and hoped that such a portal wouldn't bring unfriendly aliens or monsters to his doorstep. But if these people were to be trusted... If they knew about the Kaiju...
Newton stopped his work to entertain his guests, guests that seemed knowledgable in the sciences, especially ones that were needed to build a portal. Have they done this before? Is that how they got here? "How do you know? Where'd you come from? You built yourselves a portal and travelled through here didn't you? And from a different time it seems." The man finally lets the clipboard got and was now with the woman at his board of equations and hypothetical theories, and they seemed concerned about the danger he would potentially unleash with his device. Theoretical Science was however based on unidentified variables and constants, like wormholes and black holes.

"Hey, no problems," he teased, taking his hand back.
"Not much left for me here, did my part," he gave a shrug, smiling a bit, "Helped me get over a lot of stuff too." He definitely felt more whole again, more of a person.
Tumblr media
"Right, that's true." Newt nodded. The scientist still had work to do, because for him the fight was not over yet. The world needed someway of dealing with the aftereffects of the blood of the Kaiju, and of nuclear fallout that was bound to happen as a direct results of their actions in the Pacific. 'Helped me get over a lot of stuff too...' Well shit, he remembered then, in a moment of crassness, Newt must have offended the other when they'd first met. "Sorry about your brother... and about the comment about the Kaijus."

Bellamy listened to the older male ramble on. He chewed on his lip to try and hold in his laugh. It was amusing to see people get so worked up over aliens. Though after working with one you start to lose interest in the fascinating part of them. “Mmhmm,” he hummed as he looked down to his phone for a moment. His eyes averted back to the scientist though. “Kaijus are giant fuckin’ monsters that can swallow you whole. Kree are at least smaller than that shit. Kaijus seem scarier.” That’s not to say some don’t terrify him, but if he had to choose one to be scared of, it would be kaijus. Maybe it’s because he doesn’t have a kaiju friend to compare them to.
He’s never heard a stranger go off like this about the kree. Well he’s never heard a stranger go off like this ever. He looked so excited though he couldn’t bring himself to tell him to stop talking. He has peeked some interest in him because of the ramble though and that’s hard to do for a lot of people. Folding his arms, he arched his brow. “Yeah, genocide and all that good shit,” his tone was dripping with sarcasm. Though he can’t deny it was interesting to hear everything with such enthusiasm. He found his excitement more fascinating than what he was actually thinking about.
The boy pushed himself off the wall and straightened his posture. “Calm yourself, buddy. Are you done or do you want to give me a detailed explanation of their entire history? I don’t need it, I’m out of my whole ‘kree are cool as fuck’ phase.” Of course he had been entirely too interested in them when he first became a part of the team, but it’s become boring to him now that he spends most of his days with a kree.
Tumblr media
Newt nodded at that, agreeing that Kaiju were much worse than Kree. Though, the other seemed to be bored of his rambling, and was far too uninterested in Kree. Apparently he already had a phase. Newt didn't think he was ever going to grow out of that phase, because if he did, the scientist would lose his passion for his job. Not many people nowadays could say that they loved their jobs. And Newt, boy did Newt love his job. He would kill for his job... Okay maybe he wouldn't, but that was because he never needed to really fight for a job with the description 'alien expert and enthusiast, with vast knowledge about alien biology and culture'.
He narrowed his eyes at the kid, frowning for trying to pinpoint the boy's face to a name, before exclaiming, "Hey wait a minute, I know you! You're one of them Young Avengers. With that Kree kid right!" Oh right, his name was Bellamy. Newt hadn't really had to chance to work with Kree, so getting answers from Bellamy about Noh-Varr was going to be insightful, if the teen would indulge him. "Do you mind if I ask you a few questions? But first, what brings you here though?"
This day was actually turning out great! And no wonder the kid was bored with his ranting about the Kree, for he knew one on a day to day basis. The scientist moved towards the other, with a tablet in hand, ready to take down any notes, both to add to the SHIELD database and his own personal research of alien species.

odepius:
The whirring sound of the helicopter rang in his ears as Charles adjusted the headphones. The pilot was having a conversation with the co-pilot about the previous Kaiju attack. A beast roamed the oceans of the Pacific. Far from the banks of New York that was for sure. The whole ordeal with the aliens were becoming a problem more and more each day. Danger was always near. When he went into Cerebro he could hear the constant crying out. The cries for help. Furrowing his brow he stared out over the constant fleeting ground below him. Grass and trees whizzed below the helicopter in a flurry of green’s and yellows. Hours would pass before they reached Hong Kong.
He decided to take this advantage and look over his notes on the flight over. The whole trip, he was thinking long and hard about the beasts emerging from the water. Their roar defining the world in silence.
Scribbley handwriting adorned the worn paper. Theories, proportions, equations, and a time table enclosed the small notebook. Attacks were more than applicable for equations. There was always a way to solve the problem.
Looking out of the helicopter once more he stumbled upon a sight worth seeing. The tall buildings of Hong Kong were filling the scenery. Tall extravagent buildings. The news of the Alaska Program being shut down was not good. A Jager had been lost. So many people were losing their lives and for what?
He would’ve landed in Hong Kong except for the fact that all flights to Hong Kong were delayed. No reason at all to be exact. The Jaeger Program as nice to give him a lift to the nearest base. Hong Kong was where all of the crew was meeting. Charles had a chance to stop the apocalypse. The smartest scientists had gathered there to research the Kaiju. There he would join them.
The feeling of the helicopter meeting earth was comforting. Ducking his head he held his briefcase in his hand as he trotted away from the helicopter. Not a lot of people were there to welcome him. One however caught his eye immediately. A man with tattoos lining his arms.
Sticking out an arm in a sign of a handshake he shouted loudly over the sound of the helicopter, “Charles Xavier. I’m guessing I’m in the right place?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Newton knew for a fact that he was supposed to meet the expert on mind connections who had somethings to add about the drifting procedure. In addition to that, the man was also well versed in other sciences, and might have key research and equations that could crack the case of the Breach. Of course, he thought Hermann's idea was complete rubbish because breaches of the time and space continuum did not get bigger the more things went through.
Charles Xavier was a rather smart man, and he was a well known geneticist, so Newt figured that they would either get along really well, or not at all, like the complete disaster that was Hermann's and his working relationship. Working on Kaiju genetics was one of key parts of his job, and having a partner would certainly be helpful as long as Newt trained Charles in handling the specimens first.
He wouldn't want to have an instant dislike for someone because they ruined one of the Kaiju specimens that were so hard to get, and he still haven't forgiven one of the technicians that were transporting the tanks who had accidentally contaminated the Ammonia which the parts were submerged in. It was the reason he made it a point to be physically there to collect or at least supervise the collection of Kaiju parts now.
Newt was standing around the loading and unloading bay, near the helipads, as he waited for the arrival for the other scientist. The bay was busy and bustling with activity always but it wasn't to hard to for the tattooed man to pinpoint the helicopter that was slowly descending and finally landing onto the designated helipad. A man with a briefcase exited the helicopter and Newt figured it must have been Charles Xavier, and thus made a move towards him to welcome the other scientist.
Upon Charles' introduction, the scientist called back, raising his voice as he took the other's hand in a firm grasp, "Newton Geiszler, but please call me Newt!" He led Charles towards the bay elevator doors, and away from the noise of the helicopter blades. "How was your flight?" It was customary to ask such a question to be polite but half the time these flights tend to be not so pleasant, and then the question would come off as rude.

"Well…look at you. There’s something about you that seems terribly accident-prone.” Whether this was true or not, he had no real way of knowing, but Ainsley passed a lot of judgement towards people. It was never very nice. “And if you spill that I will make you pick up every bit of bone and decomposing flesh with your bare hands. Then, of course, you’d have to scrub it all clean again. So really, it’s in your best interest to keep your hands off.”
It was, perhaps, a tad more harsh than would have been necessary. As was most everything Ainsley said.”In any case, are you here about preservation of a pet? Or is it taxidermy that you’re after? Let me guess—your precious Miss Whiskers up and died in her sleep and you can’t bear to let her go? You seem like the sort.”
As he spoke, Ainsley ushered the man away from the tank, which was giving off the smell of dish soap and something faintly rotten.
Tumblr media
"I suppose I should offer you coffee if you intend to go on about it for a while. Coffee?"
Granted, there was a certain truth to that, even though he was a scientist and did way more dangerous things. And survived them all. Still, Newton listened to the man at the shop, and respectively backed away.
Tumblr media
"My dog, actually. And his name is Vicious. And hold on a minute, neither. It just feels freaky to preserve or stuff him with fake things, and remove his organs. Yeah, no thanks." Newt made a face at the idea, and no way he was going to let some random dude touch the insides of his dog. He frowned harder at the way he phrased it his head. God yeah, Taxidermy and preservation was out of the question.
Still, the offer of coffee was always going to be a welcome one and the scientist shrugged, "Why not? Do you have one of those machines or is it home made?" And by machines, Newton meant those that had Cappuccinos and Lattes and all that. Not that he had anything against a good old black coffee, but sometimes sugar won over caffeine, and sometimes it was vise versa.

iamxwintersoldier:
Everyone knew about the weird tattooed scientist.
There were too many rumors surrounding him. Was he actually working with the aliens he loved so much? Did he had any idea how strange he sounded when he constantly went on about how “awesome” they are? And a favorite of so many: Does he have any idea how to interact with humans? James had heard it all. He tried his best not to pay attention, but when there was so much talk surrounding one person, you couldn’t help for hear part of it.
So many people tried to focus on the fact that no one had seen the man’s timer. The talk through the helicarrier focusing on the timers was slightly idiotic. Probably more idiotic than rumors that focused on people. So what if there were timers? He had heard that most of the relationships that formed because of them these days didn’t work out as well as other people wished. Knowing his own luck, he would probably never find whoever his timer was ticking down to. That was the only downside to having his job.
He’d gotten the order to check in with the scientist a few hours earlier, something about making sure everyone was prepared for the new enemy they were facing. He’d lost the name of the species ages ago, didn’t care to learn again. His own timer was hidden by the sleeve of his sweater, his main aim to actually hide the metal arm that people couldn’t help but stare at, no matter how many times he had said that it wasn’t comfortable for him. Oh, this was gonna be fun.
He walked into the lab, almost cringing at the mess around him. Sure, he’d been around worse. There would never be a day when he’d deny that. But for someone that was supposed to be somewhat organized so he could find what he needed. Instead of commenting on it, he looked at the (very tattooed) scientist just as his timer twinged on his wrist.
"Well, shit."
Everyone knew about the Winter Soldier.
Certainly his story was complex and almost impossible to believe, lifelong friend of Captain America, died tragically on a mission to thaw out HYDRA's plan for world domination back during the previous World War. Only to come back as some brainwashed killer Soviet assassin, who then broke free of his programming and was now one of the good guys again. Newt couldn't imagine what that must be like, and the issues and physiological trauma he must have gone through, experienced, must still be experiencing, or haunted by, would certainly have broken Newt if he was in the other's place.
Now, Newton cared not for timers, or at least less than what most people seemed interested in. It wasn't going to guide or determine his life and he had done well without a soulmate thus far. Who's to say that his soulmate would understand him when no one else did, or if he could even understand his soulmate? He wasn't the most socially inclined person after all. The scientist just went about his life as normally as he could, well normal for him, and didn't obsess over the peculiar thing that was embedded in his wrist.
He was arms deep in Skrull bits, blood and organs when a ping went off followed by the words of a person he least expected to see here. Realisation dawned on him just then, gears in his mind clicking together, synapses in his brain connecting. There wasn't anything feeling of electricity, or a sense of warmth, or anything of those things associated with soulmates. (The only electrical thing that was happening was the electrical impulses in his brain.) Newt looked up for a second at the soldier with a frown on his face. He knew was probably the worst nightmare to have as a soulmate for someone like Bucky Barnes. "Damn, I was hoping it would have been an alien or something." He deadpanned.

"I would be honored." She concluded, her gaze lingering over him briefly before her attention shifted back to the plant. Her specialty had a broad spectrum, anything that lived fell into the realm of biology, and to witness such reach, it was more than she could have ever asked for.
Fingertips twitched at the sudden contact, her eyes finding him at first before she watched as he guided her touch to the plant and witnessed as it sparked to life. Soft lips parted in surprise, the pads of her fingers curving over the fern’s limbs while her gaze traversed the light’s pathway into the bed of soil it lived in. Not long after, her fingers closed around Newt’s hand without thought as she simply looked on in admiration.
"That’s breathtaking—" She breathed, turning to him with a  brightness that was often reserved for her own research.
Tumblr media
"Thanks, it's good to have someone like you on board." Newt smiled back bright, before his eyes drifted back to the fern. It was easy to just stand in the darkness, with someone who had a fascination with what he was working on, and just stay silent, admiring the work of science and nature. There wasn't a hurry to do more science when it was just as rewarding watching the fruits of your labour. They spent a while longer looking at the light emitted from the leaves, though Newt predicted it was barely minutes.
It wasn't long before his hand itched to scratch at the scruff on his jaw, and it was then he realised that he held Gwen's hand. The scientist wasn't sure when it had happened, but red creeped onto his cheeks and he cleared his throat awkwardly, before removing his hand from her grasp. Newt turned away from her briefly and looked towards the door, hoping the blush on his cheeks wasn't too obvious. "Uh... that's about it really. I should show you the gene therapy process? If you want?" He pointed with his thumb to the door, signifying the outside lab.

"True. But that means it's a good time to start... Once I actually fix this thing first." Newton massaged his temple just then, thinking for perhaps getting a bit of rest and maybe an aspirin. For the moment, he wasn't actively trying to solve this problem, so at least it was a step int he right direction of resting and healing his damaged brain cells.
