Spotting Rachel among the other passengers, they quickly maneuvered through the crowd to one another and he captured her in a giant hug, quite a public display of affection as he lifted her right off the ground, drawing a loud screech from her that made him laugh.  Setting her down but unwilling to let go just yet, as Rachel buried her face in his neck and greeted him with a compliment on his hugs, Sam grinned.  "It's a Southern thing, this is how we greet people we really like and haven't seen in way too long."  Once they were apart, he returned the grin although hers was still a ten out of ten, and laughed when she commented on the lack of luggage.  "You mean you only brought what you need to, so you can go shopping here in the city right?"  Watching as she picked up her bags, Sam slipped an arm around her shoulder.  "Yes I did, and a drink you shall have.  I hope you don't mind though, I figured we'd just have a drink back at the apartment?  I don't think you've been gone from hear long enough to forget how sketchy the nightlife can be this time of night.  We've definitely got some catching up to do, and nope I'm never too exhausted for you, Rach."  Sam led her out to the parking lot, which thankfully wasn't too far away... late night pickups usually meant a less than full parking garage and easy access to the car.
Once they were in motion and on the way back to his place, Sam turned on the radio but kept it low just for background.  "So how long have you been planning this trip, is it a spur of the moment kind of thing?  How's everyone back home?"  Realizing that he could come off a little over-excited with all the questions, he tried to back off and not overwhelm Rachel.  It was just so nice to have her back for as long as she was, and to be in on a nice surprise for Santana made him smile too.  "So she has no idea at all you're here?  Wow..."  Pretty soon they were pulling into the parking for Sam's apartment, again the benefit of the late night hours.  Taking hold of her carry-on for her, Sam escorted Rachel into the building and once they'd made their way up the apartment opened the door for her.  "Here we are, home sweet home.  Now about that drink, what can I get you?"

3am Pickup || Samchel
For this late at night, the airport sure did seem to have enough activity going on.  Sam stuck his hands inside his pockets as he stared up at the arrivals board trying to make sense of the blinking flight numbers and scrolling text up on screen.  He knew he was in the right place, and this was the right time.  Rachel was coming back into New York and for the first time in more than a year they'd get a chance to hang out.  Sam was happy to come and get her, they'd been good friends before and hearing randomly from her by text earlier in the day had lifted his spirits greatly.  She was returning to surprise Santana, who he knew could definitely use such a surprise, just not in the middle of the night.  But he offered his place to Rachel, figuring she could crash with him overnight and get a fresh start in the morning.
Keeping an eye on the gate and watching as the passengers walked through, Sam couldn't hide the smile on his face.  He'd missed the brunette more than he realized, and knowing he was about to see her again made him happy.  It had also helped him to take his mind off of Quinn, who'd somehow been dropped back into his life via the internet a few days prior.  Eying each and every brunette that came walking through the gate, all of a sudden he spotted her.  The diminutive brunette appeared with carry-on and purse in hand, looking equally focused on the lookout for him.  His eyes met hers, and twin beaming grins lit up as Sam began walk over to her.  Closing the gap, she came at Sam and he opened his arms and enveloped the tiny girl in his arms.  "Rach!  It's so good to see you!"  Picking her up and swinging her around with ease, not a care in the world about anyone watching, he set her back down after a few seconds but refused to let go of the hug.  "Welcome back.  You've been missed."

If you could steal the hair of any celeb who's would you take?
Kind of a random question, but I guess Chris Hemsworth has pretty cool hair for a dude.  Plus he's Thor, who's gonna question the haircut of a god?

Rachel: Trying to get me drunk, Samuel?
Rachel: Kidding of course, a drink might be exactly what I need.
Rachel: Of course, I'll see you in a little bit.
Sam: Honorable intentions I swear. :)
Sam: Well good thing NY doesn't ever close.
Sam: Sounds good, see you soon.

Rachel: Sounds to me like we're both in the same type of situation.
Sam: Oh? Well in that case, a hug is totally needed. And maybe a drink. We'll talk more when you land?

Rachel: I'm not sure if stressed would be the proper word, but I definitely need a hug.
Rachel: Are you alright, Sam? Do I need to be worried about you being stressed out?
Sam: Well then you've come to the right place.
Sam: I'm fine, and no need to be worried. I just got a bit of a shock earlier this week, someone from my past popped up unexpectedly.

Rachel: I'm promise as long as there's no exhaustion then there will be no slapping.
Rachel: However, I demand that hug because I feel as though I need it.
Sam: Okay, deal's back on.
Sam: Aw, something stressing you out? Well you're in luck, I kinda feel like I'm in need of it too.

Rachel: Well, at least you haven't worked yourself to the point of exhaustion. I would have to make sure I slapped you at least once for that.
Rachel: Of course I would think of you, Sam. I do consider you one of my best friends.
Sam: See now I'm not sure I want the hug if that's what it's gonna turn into. But no, no exhaustion I promise.
Sam: Right back at you Rach, I consider you one of mine too. And I'm so glad you're back, for however long you are.

Rachel: And how have you been during the last year?
Rachel: I know that there's been a lot going on, but I want to make sure you're alright as well.
Sam: Oh, it's been pretty boring here for me actually. Just a lot of work and hanging out. You've missed very little.
Sam: There has, but I've just tried to be there for the both of them. Thank you for thinking of me, that's sweet, but I swear I'm okay. Well mostly.

Rachel: Well, the second I see you I expect the biggest hug. That will be our way of symbolizing that neither of us is allowed to feel guilty for time passed.
Rachel: Exactly. As much as I want to make sure Santana is alright, I also want to make sure that Noah is okay. I've spoken to her far more than I have spoken to him.
Sam: Don't worry, that's exactly what you'll get. And yeah I like that deal, no guilt.
Sam: That's natural. I've tried to keep both their spirits up, but it's been a pretty rough time for both of them.

Rachel: We really haven't talked much, I know. I'm so sorry.
Rachel: Of course not, Noah. I actually hope that I do get to see him because I know the last year hasn't exactly been the easiest for either of them and despite his attitude when I have spoken to him, I do care about him.
Sam: It's okay, there's been a lot of stuff to go down. At least we can catch up now. No need to be sorry, I'm just as guilty.
Sam: Okay good. You know how he can be on the outside, but I'm sure he'd love to see you a bit too. You've definitely been missed.

Rachel: Isn't there always a window of hope, for everything?
Rachel: I'm just nervous about returning, it's been a while.
Rachel: A lot of old faces that I could possibly run into.
Sam: How poetic. I've missed you and your sunny optimism, Rach.
Sam: Okay, I get that.
Sam: Really? Somebody in particular? You don't mean Puck right?

Rachel: Samuel Evans, don't you even attempt to lock up my suitcase!
Rachel: I'm not saying moving back to New York is completely off the table..
Rachel: I'm just nervous.
Sam: It's just an option, nothing's for sure.
Sam: Okay, I'll accept that for now. As long as you aren't totally closed to the idea, there's always hope.
Sam: Nervous about what?

Rachel: Oh Sam, I really don't want to impose.
Rachel: I feel awful, I should have given more warning, but the entire thing was very last minute.
Rachel: I'm starting to think you just missed me too much, and that's why you want me to crash, though I am not complaining at all.
Rachel: As of right now I'm only back for a visit, I don't believe that I'll be staying.
Sam: You aren't imposing at all, I promise you that.
Sam: Don't, I'm thrilled you're coming into the city and that I get the privilege of seeing you first!
Sam: Duh, of course. :)
Sam: Well, you might change your mind when we decide to steal your suitcase and lock you up so you can't leave. Or something less creepy sounding.

Rachel: If you have plans, don't you even dare thing of picking me up!
Rachel: I spent enough time in the city that I'm capable of catching a cab, I just thought it might be nice to see a friendly face.
Rachel: Yes! After a long talk with my dads as well as an hour longer conversation with Mr. Lopez, we all agreed that Tana and I both needed to be together.
Rachel: Are you sure? I still have a key to her place, I can just pop in a surprise her.
Sam: Oh please, plans consist of going out for a boys night but that doesn't mean I can't still pick you up. I'll be there, don't even think about trying to get a cab.
Sam: Hey, I'm just happy you're coming back to the city. Is this for a visit, or does it mean you're back-back?
Sam: Nope, you don't want to face her in the middle of the night. Crash with me, and I'll take you over there first thing tomorrow. Better to surprise her after she's had her morning coffee.
