Ever notice how any time someone calls you "cringe", 99 times out of 100 what they mean is "you're happy and I don't like it"

My cats have this meow that means "please come with me to fix this" after which they'll lead me to the problem in question, usually a empty (or 'empty') food bowl or a closed door they want open. They look at the 'problem', they look back at me, clear message.

What fascinates me is how this illustrates what they percieve as being in the realm of my 'power.' I control the food, I control the door, sure, but my cats love to sit on the balcony in the sun, and it has happened plenty of times that on a rainy day they come get me, go to the balcony and show me... the rain. "Please fix this" they say. "Please get rid of the wet"

"Silly kitty," I say, "I can't control the rain." I then walk into the shower and turn on the rain.

Before watching star trek, I knew the enterprise were nerds but I didn't know they radiated such swagless theatre kid energy (with the exception of Spock and Uhura both of whom are serving cunt at all times)

so I'm watching Star Trek Strange New worlds and this show has me fucked up by episode two(3?). Like you're going to reveal that a character is Illyrian, a race that is banned from joining Starfleet due to the eugenics wars. You're going to have her share that information with multiple crew members and her boss in an attempt to help save them from a mysterious light based illness. And then. And then. And then.

She's going to talk to her commander, confess to her crime of lying about her race. Attempt to explain that illaryians don't modify their genetics the way other species did. They didn't change to be stronger than each other, to remove weakness. They changed their biology to suit the planets they discovered. Instead of terraforming worlds to suit them they changed themselves to suit the world's they discovered.

And everyone is mostly okay with what she is.

But then her personal log at the end.

Explaining silently that she doesn't feel good even though everyone was okay with it, because she was a hero today, and she shouldn't have to be a hero to be allowed to exist. She should just be allowed to exist as an illaryian.

And then the pause, and then "computer delete log."

I'm going to go feral about this show. My brain is full of bees.
