some other settler colonial parallels between palestine and california ive been thinking about: indigenous people of so called california relied on acorns and mesquite as well as corn as the staple crops, 2 of those are trees. oak trees in particular are very slow growing in the region and it takes years for them to start giving acorns, but they can live up to thousands of years. california pre colonization had vast expanses of oaklands, an abundance of food expanding generations that was just... wiped out, making it extremely difficult to reestablish a food system actually native to the region. now notice how every time israel is amping up the genocide one of the first things they do is start destroying olive farms, taking away food and economic sovereignty from palestinians in one swift move, and how this is especially effective knowing the ecology of the region and how it takes generations for olive trees to become established

i've had people treat me visibly different after hearing my voice or seeing my face as if i'm some sort of predator or interloper. this attitude towards amab trans people especially nonbinary people really paints a picture of what the lgbt community thinks of gender in general
