Doris had been deep in thought for quiet some time, she knew that, and though her stomach had settled with the potion and things seemed ‘normal’, she knew that they weren’t. Hogwarts, the wizarding world, had all changed for her in the blink of an eye and though she had shrugged it off, downed her potion and pretended she was fine, she had never been less so. The world around her, the people around her, scared the hell out of her and she didn’t know what to do.

She looked up in surprise, not having realised that Marlene had been there. She bit her lip. She and Marlene had been what most would describe as a brief fling, but Doris couldn’t deny that part of her still felt something, even though they had agreed to just be friends. It was difficult ground to navigate. “No” she whispered, knowing she couldn’t lie to Marlene. “No, I don’t think I am. I…” she laughed softly, “I could definitely do with a pick me up”.

marlene was honestly quiet known in hogwarts for not being able to hold  a relationship for long-- even though, sirius had been her first serious relationship and they both thought it was better for them to not hold onto each other. so, marlene obviously went searching around and she was not the tamest- but, when it had came to doris; it had felt different. it did not feel like a hook up, at the end of the day, marlene wanted to envelope doris in a hug and hold her away from everything. that couldn’t happen. so, she had to let her go too- on the prim of them going better of as friends. things had been okay between the two of them.

but, marlene hated to see doris sick- or sad of that matter, so she mustered all the courage she could get as she handed her hand towards the other. ‘ i have your favorite sweets still hidden by our spot if you want to come with me and watch the stars for a bit.’

“I bought them from Gladrags Wizardwear, they’re having a sale on all their Halloween related products and I couldn’t resist” she grinned, feeling as giddy as a first year who had seen the Great Hall decorated for the first time. She had always loved anything Halloween related, and she was glad to see that Molly seemed to share her enthusiasm, especially as she let out a squeal at the sight of the socks.

“Yes, absolutely Molly! Fabian would love them, we must go and get some. I was going to make my way to Dervish and Banges, but honestly, I would love an excuse to go back and purchase a few more pairs”.

she chuckled as well- because she appreciated the other’s energy and she found herself smiling widely as she nodded excitedly.’ i think he would, wouldn’t he?’ in that moment she thought that maybe gideon would appreciate them somehow too-- so, she had decided both of her brothers will get funny socks from here as a weird random gift; they were surely used to it by now anyway.

‘oh, will you?’ she gased excitedly when the other said she will be joining her and smiled even more excitedly. ‘let’s go then!’

Where: Outside the hospital wing

Who: Alice and molly

Alice was not happy. She had known the moment the healers had decided she was pretty well compared to the other students, and to Frank, that they would be pushing her out of the Hospital Wing. But she wasn’t happy. She didn’t want to leave Frank. Not when he was feeling unwell. She wanted to be the one to look after him, even if she wasn’t a qualified healer. But once she’d had the antidote, and been deemed well enough, she’d been pushed out, with orders to go to her dorm and straight to bed. She’d managed to compose herself as she said goodnight to Frank. But the moment that the hospital wing doors had shut behind her the tears had come.

Alice didn’t cry that much, and especially not in front of others. But she was just feeling overwhelmed. Her boyfriend, and some of her friends were poorly, having to stay the night. She walked a few metres away, and then just lent against the wall. She knew she needed to get to the hufflepuff common room. But. she just wanted to sit here and cry right now. She didn’t want to leave her boyfriend, or her friends. But she had to. And she couldn’t stand it.  

Molly had not really left the hospital wing hall-- she was healed fast or at least healed enough to be able to not be in there anymore and with both of her brother way worse than she had been, she was a little...concerned to say the least. The moment the doors opened, she looked up from the cup of water she was holding and her eyes widened when she saw Alice-- she had seen her there earlier, but she had truly hoped she’ll be alright.

Before she could speak up to give attention to herself, she sees Alice’s tears and the hufflepuff has never stood up faster- cup falling to the ground as the smaller girl moves to comfort her friend. ‘ Ali.’ she mumbles gently as she approaches her and she gently envelopes her into a hug. ‘ It’s okay. They’ll be alright, they are in good hands. Frank will be fine.They’re safe now.’

there was that sting again-- marlene didn’t know exactly what it was; she usually was not the best to hide her feelings and especially not when something felt off- always being known as a bomb around here; but, for some reasons as she sat there...she couldn’t pin point what was bothering her. so, she leaned gently to be able to catch doris’ eyes and she  let her head to a side. 

‘ you alright?’ she asked the other; even though she knew maybe it wasn’t the best thing- she seemed distressed about something and marlene knew that she might not be the best person to ask. things were still rocky with the two of them anyway-- she tends to believe if she has one relationship that is not rocky.’you look like you need a pick me up.’

the last thing in the world that dorcas was used to was people trying to take care of her. she was far more familiar with taking care of herself on her own. it was always a nice reminder to be at school and have people who actually worried on her behalf. she smiled at marlene. her throat was still hoarse from earlier and she felt like hot garbage, but it wasn’t too much worse than a nasty hangover. “I’m alright. I swear. there are people much worse off than I am.” she reassured her once again. “I’ll take both hugs though.” she adjusted her position so that they could both be comfortable. “how are you? how’s everyone else? have they managed to catch who put that fucking dark mark in the air?”

marlene knew dorcas better than she knew herself or that is what she liked to tell herself anyway- she bit the inside of her cheek as she watched the other. while she understood it might be weird for the careless marlene to try and actually do something down to the earth, she kept her eyes on her friend as she spoke. ‘ just because there are worse people, it doesn’t mean your situation is not important. a small dose could affect anyone different.’ she tells the other firmly, but somehow still gently in her own way. she leans and wrap an arm around the other, giving her a hug. ‘ no- i don’t think they have found anyone yet, rumours have been skirting and i am sure some people actually know, but nothing actually happened which is bullshit really. everyone else is alright, they are being taken care of.’

molly let a sigh and shrugged.’ i really do not know- but, it seems like it would appreciate it?’ she doesn’t know why she thinks so, but in that moment, it seems like the smartest thing she had said.’i think they have feelings, right? isn’t that part of the magic?’

“No-one could really expect me to come up with such a good idea, could they, really?” he chuckled, shaking his head. His hat slid sideways slightly and he reached up to push it back onto his head properly. He could have charmed it, but he was afraid of pulling out chunks of hair. “What a thoughtful gesture, I’m sure your cat appreciates it very much” he grinned, “or is she like other cats, who just knock things over for fun and ignore their humans except for when they needing feeding and scratching?” 

alecto can’t help herself but chuckle when she sees the way frank struggles to put his hat back on top of his head and then she nods; acting like she did not just enjoy his inner struggle. ‘ i mean, you are head boy,aren’t you? you have some good ideas.’ she continued with the slight teasing. ‘ i am sure she doesn’t care, but i thought i could just do it. she’s probably very alike me, only gives attention to some people. usually stays close, lately the little bugger went around other commons too much, honestly.’

He watched her with concern, but bent down to pick up the candy she’d scattered across the pavement. “Dizzy? Are you feeling okay? You don’t have to apologize Mols, I’m always here to catch you when ya fall. Or, well, next time I will, promise.”

molly felt silly in that moment when the other kept going on and she quickly shook her head- which she regretted after because her head did hurt. ‘no, it’s okay! you don’t have to catch me anytime! and i am okay, really- just-yeah, i am okay.’

Marlene nearly knocked the wind out of Mac as she practically jumped on top of her, a wild grin on her face. Oh, that definitely meant trouble. She struggled to turn around in her vice like grip, but eventually peered at her through suspicious eyes.

Shit.

She’d spotted them. Had she spotted them? Was she talking about another many couples who had been making out at the shower? What if it wasn’t her and she gave it away that she’d kissed Fab? Panic coursed through her and she licked her lips and raised a brow, choosing to pretend like she was as thick as a tree. “Are you spying on unsuspecting couples, Mars? Didn’t realize you enjoyed watching, that’s a bit creepy, y’know.” She shoved a chocolate frog in her gob and spoke through muffled chews, “But if you’re talkin’ about two professors french kissing, I don’t want to know.”

‘professors?’ marlene quized the other with a narrowed eyebrow and she watches her talk before she leans her head on her shoulder; humming at the thought. ‘ i wasn’t watching on purpose again, it just happened for me to see something- you know i am not a creeper, not like i am not getting action of my own, merlin-’ she teased lightly, jokingly of course. before she let her arm unwrap from the other’s shoulders and moved back a step.

‘ i didn’t realise you and prewett had suddenly become professors.’ she waits patiently for the other’s response and then speaks. ‘when were you going to tell me, mac?’

halloween was so much fun. it was familiar. things here weren’t so different from how they were back home. frankly, antigone could do with a little more familiar in her life. she was sitting happily in front of honeydukes, having made friends with the candies crawling about, and eating a sugar quill when someone dressed in dark clothing approached her. “hm?” she looked up and furrowed her brows slightly. he seemed nervous, but who would be nervous to talk to her? actually, who would seek her out to talk to her at all? she glanced around to see if amabella was pulling some sort of prank on her. it was a night of tricks and treats afterall.

“yes. I’m antigone graves, but most people call me tig.” at least the ones who knew her did. none of them were at hogwarts necessarily, but maybe she could change that. “why?” she paused. there had been an awful lot of people she’d met lately. had she forgotten him? “have we met? if we’ve met, I’m really sorry but I don’t remember. I feel like I would remember you, of course. I’m not saying that you’re forgettable or anything. you just meet a lot of people coming to a new school, you know? …do you want some candy?”

‘tig.’ he repeated after her and it felt a bit more familiar than he thought it would be; he did not know how  to address her really; but, he bit the inside of his cheek as he watched her talk and he shook his head.’ i am good, not a big fun of candy, but thank you.’ he confessed to her and then he introduced himself. ‘ i don’t think so, i am regulus. regulus black. i just heard  about you from my parents.’

was that a good idea to start talking about the engagement? maybe not, but he had to add more. ‘i don’t know if you know why, but there’s an arrangement they did with your parents before.’

“Woah!” A shower of candy rained down on Enzo and he dashed forward to help the poor girl who’d taken a fall, losing the majority of the candy she’d clearly been so proud of collecting only moments earlier. “Are you alright, Molls? Nearly lost an eye to a sugar quill there,” he joked, offering her a hand up.

of course this was bound to happen-- molly is preen to disaster and especially when it involved falling. ‘sorry, sorry- i just got distracted-dizzy and then-yeah-’ she mumbles and she quickly gets up with the help of his hand.’ thank you.’ she mumbles softly.’ sorry, you had to see that-’

It took Remus a moment to register that someone had spoken as he blearily raised his head from where he’d fallen asleep on the desk.

“Oh, sorry,” he said, tiredly rubbing at his eyes as he squinted at the newcomer.  He hadn’t been expecting anyone to come bother him in the abandoned classroom he’d found a few weeks ago during one of his patrols, but, then again, he hadn’t expected to fall asleep either.

“Do you need to me move?,” he asked, words still a little sleep slurred as he looked around for whatever it was that Alecto had left behind.

she watches him and then she realises he was sleeping and she feels bad a bt, just because he looks tired. very tired. and she bits the inside of her cheek as she watches him and then she nods her head slowly as she finally enters the classroom.

‘ no, you’re not sleeping on my things.’ she then responds, a bit monotone as she walks down towards her scattered elements on a desk near by. ‘you can go back to sleep.’

Or the family for that matter. I just hope their values align with ours.”

regulus doesn’t say anything for a bit-- he just turns to look in the distance and nods at her words with a hum. he hates it really. he was not surprised either, he was actually expecting it, but it did not make things easier.’do you really think they’d risk that? never. heard nothing much about ehr either though.’

“I- SAID-” sera drew out each consonant and vowel of the words that left her mouth for enunciation. “CAN- YOU- PASS- ME- THAT- STUPID- RIBBON- THERE- .” long, slow words paused and fell. her hair rippled to a vibrant cerulean, a tell tale sign of her joking. “if I don’t figure out this transfiguration spell, I’ll be a seventh year until I die.”

alecto watched the other speak and she couldn’t really understand why, but those words made her raise an eyebrow- a tad annoyed by the other’s apperance and she picks up the other ribbon- not the one the other wants and throws it on the table by her. ‘here you go. good luck.’
