Got to meet and chat with Eman for a good while today. He was lovely and insisted on writing all over my box when all I wanted was a simple autograph. What a great experience!

Veronica Mata says she can't understand how the police officers who stood in a school hallway for more than an hour while children and teachers were being slaughtered in a classroom could possibly have been doing their jobs by the book. But that was the conclusion of a new municipalreport released Thursday into the May 24, 2022, shooting at Robb Elementary School, in which a gunman killed 19 students and two teachers.  "We don't understand. Like, everybody knows what went on. Everybody was there," Mata, whose 10-year-old daughter Tess was among those killed, told As It Happens host Nil Köksal. "Everybody saw that these police officers stood there for 77 minutes and did nothing to protect our children. Nothing."

I don’t know how this isn’t common sense, but:
If your movement has managed to put an already oppressed minority group in danger to the point where they don’t even feel safe to leave their home to go to school, your movement is heavily flawed.

I find this kinda hilarious because I HATE dr. Phil.
He’s against “wokeness on college campuses” which basically means he hates empathy and progressive beliefs. Yet in his hatred for progress, he mistakenly made a REALLY GOOD SEGMENT about how American college campus students are being used by a terrorist organization.
And he has the son of the founder of Hamas on his show to condemn Hamas and explain how Hamas is a terrorist organization and he actively confronts college activists about their hateful antisemitic rhetoric.
I guess even a broke clock is right twice a day.
Trigger warning of course. There are some blurred pictures from October 7th wary in the video but they are still horrific.

My fave thing abt pali propaganda vids in Arabic is the way theyre sanitized for a western audience in their translations. The word "Jews" becomes "Zionists" because they know the Optics are Bad. Sometimes the word "Jews" becomes "The Army". Consistently, however, the word "Jews" is completely removed from the translation because when you hear a 5yo child zealously chanting "remove the conniving Jews from our lands" the layers of antisemitic Arab propaganda slowly begin to crack. "Remove the Zionists from our lands" is a version far better fitted to the Westoid moral palate of Becky, and they know it very well.

Even if Palestinians were native there is absolutely no excuse for what Hamas has done
so i study decolonization, as in i studied it as part of my degree, and i thought I'd make a list of some readings/films that might offer additional insight about decolonization (it also helps if you're tired of the christian moralistic thinking)
occupation 101 (can be found on youtube i believe, it's about the history between isreal and palestine, it focuses on palestinians and it is quite comprehensive. there's live footage, there's interviews with palestinian children, etc. it's a must watch i think, regarding palestine. it points the finger squarely at the united states.)
the wretched of the earth, franz fanon. fanon is really well known in the decolonization sphere because he writes about it in a very succinct and clear way. to him, decolonization can never occur peacefully, and i think that's a really important key lesson. he also talks about how colonizers don't just take land, they reframe ideas, they take language, art, thoughts.
the battle of algiers, 1966. this is a fascinating film, it's sort of a documentary, they got the actual people to play their parts. it describes and interviews the main individuals involved in the fight for independence within Algiers. i think understanding how a nation can gain independence over its colonial forces is really important in the grand scheme of decolonialism.
unthinking eurocentrism. if you can get your hands on it, i love this text. it's so poignant and it lays everything out so clearly and it really shows how we center our worlds around eurocentrism and westernism.
