#ik this is an oldie but it’s a goodie #as someone who writes and draws as a hobby!! the binary of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ lingers even in personal art no one else sees #and it’s so freeing to go yeah. this isn’t the most skilful or original output in the world #but I made it for me. bc I wanted to see it in the world. so I made it real #and maybe when I look back at it later I’ll cringe. but there were a few hours hunched over my ipad where I was having fun making it #so it wasn’t really that stupid

“the problem is its never gonna be what all the fans want” imo the problem is the majority of fans have bad fucking taste like. if you write a story with the intent to keep editing it in line with what fans want you’re gonna end up with a shitty story. obviously you can take in criticism from early access but once you publish the thing you shouldn’t constantly be retconning characterization wtf. good god

#glad i didnt shell out the $90aud bg3 costs bc every new patch makes me less and less interested in the game #ive seen truly insufferable fanbases but never before have i seen one absolutely flatten a genuinely engaging experience so directly #like i can live with fandom consensus being stupid. i was rlly into fe3h for a while and edelgard was my fav lord. ive done the discoursing #but the bg3 fandom is so committed to reshaping the game into some YA 'romantasy' novel #where the characters arent fully realised ppl but exist only as a romantic accessory to their tav's wattpad adventure #AND THE DEVS ARE LETTING IT HAPPEN. its 100% on larian for bending to stupid whims. do the fully modded tavs know this is what fanfic is fo #if you cant enjoy the experience for what it is without rewriting the story. i just dont think you like bg3 as much as you think you do. #eg. ppl begging larian to let their tav hug astarion after he kills cazador. it doesnt occur to ppl that astarion wouldnt want to b touched #bc its not about him to them. hes just their hot vampire bf l.i. theyre centering what would make them feel better in a scene ab HIS trauma #ignoring his bodily autonomy. u know. his whole arc. ik thats not everyone but its symptomatic of how a lot of ppl are treating the game. #fundamentally incurious players who are disinterested in engaging with a story they cant make into a power fantasy. go back to fourth wing #/bg3 #lae'zel... wyll.... ill never forgive what was done to you...
