According to former schoolmates of 23-year-old Wellington Menezes de Oliveira, responsible for killing 12 students in the school Tasso da Silveira on April 7, 2011, in Rio de Janeiro, he always was a quiet student and had been bullied. His classmates used to call him “Sherman”, in reference to the American Pie’s character, and make fun of him because he had been walking with a limp. Bruno Linhares, who was Wellington’s classmate, told that once a student said to Wellington “We are afraid of you because one day you will still kill a lot of people”.

 Robert’s last evening:

 RS got visited by his close friend B. RS agreed with him that he will come to the informal commencement after 26.04.2002. During his questioning by the commission, B stated that RS did not say anything, behaved like he always did and nothing had pointed towards problems of any kind. He would have watched TV with RS; “the Simpsons” and other things that were aired but no Videos. (The mother’s statement during her interrogation fits this- she stated that the evening before 26.04.2002, Robert had seemed normal. A friend had been over, from whom she had only seen his shoes. She had heard both talking and laughing. Robert would have been a bit grumpy, when she had told him not to go to bed too late.) Around 20:30 (8:30pm) he and RS would have been went to Luisenpark with beer from his stock. They would have sat in the park and talked. Around 22:30 (10:30pm) RS would have said that they should go since he would have a test tomorrow. RS would have said goodbye with the words “Bye, ‘till tomorrow”. Nothing would have indicated that they would not see each other again or that something special was going to happen.

A photo of the room of Guilherme Taucci Monteiro.  Monteiro was partly raised by his grandparents, due his mother’s struggle with substance abuse. According to relatives, he did not took the recent death of his grandmother well and showed signs that he was suffering from the loss. His mother also reported that in the aftermath of the attack, she found a burned photo in his room, showing herself and the boys father. Monteiro had left it besides his bed. The second attacker, Luiz Henrique de Castro, lived only a few meters away. According to  parents and neighbours, the two had been friends since early childhood, but had never shown signs of trouble. However, employees at a nearby Arcade-Game Hall said that the two showed up regularly and displayed some behaviour that caught their attention such as loud and excessive swearing during their games and wearing Swastikas as necklaces.

Jiverly Wong and Randy Stair are two examples of mass shooters who employed the use of their vehicles to block the rear exits of their targeted establishments. 

On April 3, 2009, 41-year-old Jiverly Wong parked the 1993 Toyota Camry he borrowed from his father against the back door of the American Civic Association in Binghamton, New York, where he previously attended English classes. He proceeded through the front entrance and shot to death 13 people before taking his own life.

Randy Stair was concerned about how he would manage blocking the double-door emergency exit without alarming his coworkers and considered it an impossibility until one night during his break, he came to “the greatest idea I’ve ever had” about barricading the exit with his car. Once the Weis Markets store in Eaton Township, Pennsylvania closed for the night on June 8, 2017, the 24-year-old blocked the doors with his 2013 Hyundai Sonata and further disabled the remaining exits. Stair then killed three coworkers and committed suicide.

Brazilian news report that the attack at the Escola Estadual Professor Raul Brasil, committed by Guilherme Taucci Monteiro and  Luiz Henrique de Castro, might have happened with the support of the Brazilian imageboard Dogolachan. The site was originally created in 2013 by a person named Marcelo Valle Silveira Mello, who in 2018 was sentenced to 41 years and 6 months in prison for criminal conspiracy and incitement to commit crimes. Not untypically for an imageboard, the site got somewhat infamous for its culture surrounding the glorification of violence. After the arrest of Marcelo Valle Silveira Mello, the site reportedly transfered to the Deep Web. The following message is believed to have been posted on Dogolachan by  Guilherme Taucci Monteiro, indicating that they received support in strategies and planning for the attack. The user DPR, who is adressed, was reportedly a Moderator on the site: Many thanks for the advice advice, DPR. We hope from the bottom of our hearts that we do not commit this act in vain. All of us and especially the enclosure will be quoted and remembered. We are born flawed but we will leave as heroes. We were amazed at the quality, worthy of hollywood movies. Unfortunately there are no places to test things and everything will happen naturally, with learning at the time of the act. Stay with god, my mentor. The signal will be the music at most 3 days later we will be in front of God with our 7 virgins. We’ll take the message with us.
