Bear in mind, also, that the cops going to carry out the confiscation are going into a situation thinking "There is a dangerously mentally ill person with firearms here." They're not going to be polite about it. One has to imagine that having his door kicked in is likely to make an otherwise reasonable man lash out.

The Venn diagram of people who want to disarm you and people who are inconsiderate fuckwit assholes, is a circle.
There would be less people trying to cut each other off crossing two or more lanes of traffic if the person being cut off was armed with RPGs ready to obliterate such selfish bitches for not adhering to common courtesy
An armed society is a polite society.

You didn't ask me but I'm answering anyways.
1). For me it's Job. I came to the Church a couple of years after I lost two very dear family members and my final doubts were centered around the "Why did God allow them to die?" question. Job helped me to get past that and has become the book that I turn my thoughts to whenever The Big Sad creeps in. I also took Job as my Confirmation name.
2). Luke, although I can't really tell you why. The first time I read the Gospels I just felt particularly drawn in by Luke - something about the writing style just vibed with me I suppose. Reading the Gospels went from a sort of academic exercise to something more like reading a good novel where I just wanted to devour it all as quickly as I could. There's also the inclusion of the Good Thief/Saint Dismas which I find myself thinking about very often.
3). Our Blessed Mother, naturally.
4). Hail Holy Queen. There's a wonderful rendition by a nun's choir called The Daughters of St. Paul. Their collection of Marian hymns was the first hymnal album I ever listened to.
5). I have to agree with whoever I just stole this post from: I AM.
Christianity Questions!
Favourite book of the Old Testament and why?
And of the New?
Favourite character in the Bible, excluding God/Christ?
Favourite hymn(s)?
Favourite name(s) of God and/or Jesus
1) I particularly love the history books of Judges and 1-2 Samuel. Ehud and Gideon especially. I especially like how God told Gideon he had too many men and showed him how to select the true warriors among them (those who knelt with a weapon ready and lapped water from 1 hand, vs those who got on all fours to drink directly).
2) For the NT, I’m partial to Luke and Romans.
Luke 12:22-32 is one of my favorite verses I have to remind myself of constantly. Romans 7 starting about verse 14 resonates with me at times (fighting the sinful nature, “What I want to do, I do not do”), as I think it does with many other believers.
3) Favorite character of the Bible?
Paul, who else made such a drastic 180?
I’m also partial to the aforementioned Gideon, as well as Jonathan. Jonathan recognized David as God’s chosen and stayed a true friend, but can you imagine the inner turmoil that poor man must’ve been in?
4)Fave hymn?
As far as traditional hymns go: Nothing But The Blood of Jesus.
As for more contemporary songs:
Where The River Flows - Aaron Watson
Peace Be Still - Hope Darst
Devil - Anne Wilson
(I have trouble picking ONE favorite as far as anything goes)
5) I AM.
So much said about Him in those 2 words of that name.
Thanks!

The pictures I drew were so heart-rending as to stupefy even myself. Here was the true self I had so desperately hidden. I had smiled cheerfully; I had made others laugh; but this was the harrowing reality. I secretly affirmed this self, was sure that there was no escape from it, but naturally I did not show my pictures to anyone except Takeichi. I disliked the thought that I might suddenly be subjected to their suspicious vigilance, when once the nightmarish reality under the clowning was detected. On the other hand, I was equally afraid that they might not recognize my true self when they saw it, but imagine that it was just some new twist to my clowning-- occasion for additional snickers. This would have been most painful of all. I therefore hid the pictures in the back of my cupboard.
-Osamu Dazai, No Longer Human
"I was frightened even by God. I could not believe in His love, only in His punishment. Faith. That, I felt, was the act of facing the tribunal of justice with one's head bowed to receive the scourge of God. I could believe in hell, but it was impossible for me to believe in the existence of heaven."
-Osamu Dazai, No Longer Human
Dazai really was a master of the literary gut punch. This book is full of quotes that have stuck with me for years.
