few thoughts on Yahoo! Finance 'My Portfolios' platform

The main goal here: 

to discuss an opportunity to develop the Yahoo! platform into advanced platform for Trading Contests (free and paid one).

  While your attention may go towards the presented Profit / Loss strategies using options, the real target here is a discussion of convenient and user friendly trading platform. Often they are cumbersome and unfriendly. I understand there is always an issue of resources, but having data on hands as Yahoo! Finance has, convenient platform for trading contests is possible.

We all know that Yahoo! Finance provides a lot of real-time data during trading hours - free! That is why people tend to keep Yahoo!Finance site open even when they trade on other platforms. Financial content is also excellent and up to the minute... I love the guys from 'The Daily Ticker', 'Breakout',...

Yahoo! Finance 'My Portfolios' provides quality tool to follow stocks, etfs, indexes,... of your choice  In the above pic there is an example of YHOO stock following on 'My Portfolio' with covered call.

I sampled Call option ticker on Yahoo!Finance option page. As you see it is simple, convenient and you are ready to play options in no time on Yahoo!Finance platform. Options are especially handy in protecting dividend rich stocks, i.e., AGNC, NLY, WIN etc.

For 4-5 years I waited for contests, challenges on Yahoo! Finance site, but it did not happen. Meanwhile, Wall Street Survivor established its name in this space, though its interface is still in the beginning stage. To be fair, Yahoo!Finance tried the fantasy stock contest some time ago... I just wonder where is a consistency of the intention?

With Worldwide Commodity Challenge by CME Group for Universities in place and its popularity, we are today facing new opportunities in finance gaming / education field. 

Will Yahoo! take advantage of the new opportunities arising from its Yahoo! new location in Manhattan, NY - the heart of world's financial center? It depends... I tried to communicate my thoughts 4-5 years ago to Yahoo! staff and we are still at 'the ground 0' on a Financial Challenge/Game front. Can we have a relevant dialogue today?

The announced Yahoo! move to Times Square in New York inspired me to share some thoughts on beneficial uses of Yahoo! Finance portfolios. If you move to world's finance center, you have to provide the world class toys to play around the block :)
