Sirens had already begun to wail in the distance, a few patrons of the surrounding buildings exiting doors with murmurs of concern. "We gotta go," she breathes, rolling towards him and standing. The bullet nearly missed her, but she's certain there's shrapnel and other nasties potentially embedded into her skin. The wound feels hot while the rest of her is stark cold.

"Safehouse," she murmurs. "We need to disappear. I'll be fine- we'll figure this out together." Her bike is overturned a few feet away and she presses the keys into Bucky's palm. "You drive."

"It's alright," she gasps. "It's okay- I moved the wrong way." The perp lay dead in the street a few meters ahead of them, the car he'd been in tipped over and upside-down a few feet later. Nat had swerved her motorcycle right into Bucky's line of fire and caught the edge of a stray bullet. And damn did it hurt. She lifts her hand from the side of her ribcage and sucks in air sharply, fingers stained red. "I'm gonna be fine, promise. Let's just get the hell out of here."

He had honestly had nightmares about this exact thing happening and he at last came to the point where he hurt Natasha again. "I'm so sorry...." Bucky whispered quietly, he knew she had got shot before, hell by him but that didn't make this better. The shot was in a nasty place and looking her over, this could have been a lot worse. "ER or back to the safe house?" He really wasn't sure if he was keen on playing a rurgeon here.

"They're weird, but they're..." Nat pauses, mulls her thoughts over another mouthful of soup. "They're family. At least- as close as I found to family since us."

There's an interesting silence. Nat wouldn't say it's bad, but it's not great. She knows there's years lost between them, years that will never be regained. It felt like she'd moved on a little, found something to fill the void that her other family had left. Now she was left with what felt like two halves, and it was difficult to piece them together.

"I found what I could, and I love them. But I'm so glad to have you back."

Yelena offered a small shrug. So far the outcome of her sister's mission seemed pretty terrible. Except for the soup and the dead mark. Especially the soup. But they both knew things could always be worse.

"It is not funny, Talia," Yelena replied as her sister laughed, then suffered from another cough, and then laughed again. "Barton has already sent me three messages. I know it is a trap for a big hero speech."

Yelena rolled her eyes at her sister's amusement. "Yes, I know. You would find that very entertaining. Your avenging friends are very weird."

[INJURY]: after having been badly wounded themselves, the sender tries to reassure the frantic receiver by cupping their face and comforting them.

"I'm so sorry, Tasha.... I'm so sorry i hurt you." Buck apologized quickly, hearing himself he sounded frantic. This mission had gone to shit badly and while Bucky was borderline suicidal in how little he cared if he got hurt, Natasha didn't bounce back quite as fast. Feeling the widow's hands against his cheek, Bucky couldn't help but tearing up as he put his hands on Natasha's own. "I'm so, so sorry...."

She can't help but smile with him, his eyes finally clear of the long dark locks. "A great big world," she muses, thumb stroking along his cheekbone. "Why don't you cut it?"

[HAIR]: in the process of pushing the receiver's hair back from their face, the sender lets their hand rest against the receiver's cheek a moment longer.

Having his hair hanging in his face wasn't exactly rare for Bucky and when Natasha brushed it out of his face, he had to smile a bit. "Oh look.... There is a world outside my bangs." Bucky said humorously before leaning into Natasha's touch against his cheek.

"Alright- well don't force it. I'm just glad you're alright."

She gently gave Bucky the light version of what had happened. A burning building with less than sound structural integrity- and of course Bucky had to go in after someone to save them.

"Well- not save them so much as arrest them. The arsonist was trying to get away, wanted to kill himself inside the building. You went to pull him out so he could face charges and the entire building collapsed on you both." Her eyes stung again and she quickly brushed her fingers across her cheeks.

Bucky smiled so slightly at Natasha as he ran his thumb over her knuckles while holding her hand. "Guess i don't get to leave yet huh?" Bucky asked with a sigh. He knew that sounded dark but he felt down right misserable at the moment. Part of him was more surpriced that they succeded in keeping him asleep. It had been done once or twice. Listening to Natasha, Bucky struggled to remember what had happened. He remembered what lead up to the mission but everything during it was a bit foggy. "I remember falling yeah.... Make sense." He sigh before being kissed by Natasha. Nudging her nos with his own, he had to smile weakly. "Not much... But i rarely do after these things. Maybe later something will pop up."
