question that periodically resurfaces in my mind but never stays in one place long enough for me to remember its there: do we know for sure whether stede hired frenchie specifically as an actual official musician-on-board kind of deal or is he just, like, the friend who brought his guitar to the function so we can jam
the thing about ed sitting in stede’s lap is stede loves a deep pressure stim and ed loves feeling like a pea inside of a pod. so theyll just do that all day
exclusivity is up for the A to Z of Ed Teach Zine, so here's my sfw piece, I for Illumination, based off of Mucha's The Moon~

[ID: A digital sketch of Taika Waititi as Edward Teach/Blackbeard in Our Flag Means Death. The canvas is tan paper with black ink line art and a simple wash of limited colour in a warm brown palette. We’re looking at Ed over his right shoulder from behind side-on, long hair cascading down his back and over his shoulder with some of it up in a loose bun. He is clean-shaven and looking down with his eyes half-lidded. Background is a simple pale circle. /End ID.]
do YOU like beautiful stories about disability with a shapeshifty transgender flavor and a delicious message about love and care and meeting your bodymind where it’s at? well, does @adhduck have the fic for you that I also have done some art for!
[ID: a drawing of Ed Teach from the mid-calf up, holding an armful of colorful bath bombs and other various products from lush in the crook of his arm. Ed has a soft neutral expression on his face. he’s wearing his one-armed leather jacket, fingerless gloves, and his leather pants, with a pair of knee braces that reach from mid-calf to mid-thigh. Ed’s clothes and braces are shaded in rainbow colored pencil that gives them a kind of holographic effect. the background of the image is pale purple with a rainbow of thin pastel rainbow stripes across the center and a few scattered yellow sparkles near Ed’s face.]
We know that Ed likes singing. When he was trying to be vulnerable and feel better, that was the thing he chose to share with the crew. Writing his lyrics and singing songs were fun, comforting ways for him to express himself.
But I'd be shocked if that feeling hasn't been tainted a bit by what happened at the end of s1. He's going to be walking around their house mumbling a little song under his breath and cut himself off once he realizes what he's doing, maybe even apologize and scold himself to shut up if he notices Stede listening to him.
And Stede is going to absolutely love it, when he catches Ed singing. He won't know the baggage there, but he'll want Ed to do what makes him feel good. When he's happy or even when he's having a rough day, Ed's going to slowly start to feel a bit more comfortable making up lyrics about what he's doing because every time Stede hears him he'll be sure to give him a compliment or tell him that he loves hearing him sing. Ed might not be the most talented singer in the world, but for Stede, listening to Ed a room over making up a little song about how the floewrs are starting to bloom, knowing that Ed's feeling safe and happy? Best sound he's ever heard.
ed already goes through those really agonizing moments of feeling small and scared i think he deserves to experience a more safe and cozy kind of smallness. i think he deserves a hat shaped like a big flower and a coffee table shaped like a spool of thread
