I want to dedicate this to @reminaissance.  This fanfic is like a little glimmer of sunshine in this chaotic year for me. Can’t believe a elsanna fanfic can resonate with my life so much. I was  struggling just like Anna in the story does. The writing is so immersive and compelling, I can’t explain how much I love it with my broke-ass English. So I made this  little fanart, sorry it’s a bit rough, I don’t have much time to polish it. But hope you like it!

“If I die, I’m haunting you first” - Frozen modern AU
“Does the air… seem a bit… thin… to you… up here?”
“You make it sound like you’re climbing a mountain.”
“You mean… I’m not? Please tell me I’m almost there.”
It feels cruel to laugh, so Kristoff clears his throat. “You’re almost there.”
Anna looks up. And groans.
“That’s why I told you to wait with her while I ran up and came back with the car.”
“Yeah, but before that, you said, ‘It’s too steep. I don’t have my Ventolin with me and you can’t piggyback your drunk sister all the way there.’”
“That was not a cue for you to go ‘Says who?’ and literally die on this hill proving me wrong.”
“Oh, so you admit you were wrong!”
“Who lost her balance and would have rolled down the hill without me to save her?”
“That was like a crazy trust exercise. If I die, I’m haunting you first.”
“I’m not drunk…” Elsa mumbles into Anna’s shoulder.
“You wanna walk on your own then?” Anna teases.
“Nooooo!”
Kristoff definitely feels an asthma attack on the way because Elsa is whining and clinging to her sister like a resplendent koala, and Jesus H. Christ, he can’t breathe.
“Elsa,” Anna chokes out. “Can’t… breathe…!”
“Sorry.” It’s a loud whisper.
“There’s still a way to go,” Kristoff tells Anna. “I could take her.”
“No!” Elsa burrows back into the crook of Anna’s neck.
“Oof! Okay, okay. I got you.” Anna hoists Elsa higher on her back. “I swear this is karma.”
“At least she’s an adorable drunk.”
“Hah! You’ve seen nothing. Watch this—hey, Els?”
“Mhmm?”
“What’s number forty-two on the periodic table?”
“Molybdenum. Forty-two is my favourite number. It’s the answer to life—”
“—the universe and everything,” Anna choruses with her. “I still can’t believe you read that book to me as a bedtime story. How old were you?”
“I’m two.”
“Oh boy. Does that make me minus one?” Anna’s powering up the hill now, her head tipped against Elsa’s as she chatters on, all hints of fatigue vaporised.
Kristoff follows with a smile.
“Anna?” Elsa says blissfully.
“Yeah?”
“Love you.”
“Love you, too. Hey, hey, don’t fall asleep on me. What about that super long word you told me about the other day?”
“Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis?”
“Err… no. The other one; it started with F?”
“Ohhh. Floccinaucinihilipilification? It means ‘the act of deciding that something is worthless’. Do you want me to spell it?”
“No, no, we’re good—”
“F-L-O-C…”
They’re only halfway up this godforsaken hill, but when Anna rolls her eyes and smiles at him, Kristoff knows it’s a waste of breath to deny it: this girl is haunting him already.
Thanks for the prompt and sorry for the wait! I’ve been creatively blocked lately so this took a while to come. It wasn’t until ‘wasted’ came up as my writing group’s weekly prompt that it came together. Two birds with one stone??
P.S. You can decide for yourselves why and how Elsa got drunk haha
P.P.S. prompt list here if you’d like more modern AUs!

FORGOTTEN DEITY - FROZEN
Prompt: You are a god, long forgotten by the mortals you now live amongst. Powerless without your worshippers you scrape along living. Until, one day a prayer is sent to you.
Charas: Elsa and Anna
The phrase ‘the good old days’ had different meanings to different people. Most of the time it means their youth, the time of their prime as you remember it.When life was simple and still had that fresh coat of paint. It was an interesting phrase and for Elsa Winters it meant a time when she was worshipped and had the power of her namesake at her beck and call.
Now she barely had the strength to chill a cup of tea, much less a nation that dared to attack her realm. No, the Great War had seen to the last of her power and she lived much like the mortals did. Humbled and barely scraping by but still immortal.
Now she was a librarian, a keeper of knowledge.
It was nice, the way the places rarely changed. The introduction of digital archives and filing being her greatest hardship of late. Still there was no getting by the need to reshelve books.
It was there in the stacks when she felt it.
A feeling of cold that ran up her spine and followed by that unmistakable taste of juniper berries lathered in honey on her tongue. A soft whisper caressed her ears as she went still and shivered once. Just once as a smidgen of power tickled her mind.
“Let me pass this course, even if it is just with an barely good enough passing grade. Please please please Elsa of Arendelle.”
A prayer had been said, an offering made in her name, the taste still lingering like an old friend.
All at once she forgot her work and used used a sliver of her newfound might to get the name of she who had invoked her Name.
The image of red hair and freckles was the first to solidify as did the faintest inkling of a name. She had to spend another precious sliver, expanding her awareness with the knowledge that she would keep a headache along with a name.
As she leaned against the shelves she struggled to stay upright, to adjust her weak form to the use of such divine power. But she had that name she wanted; Anna Anderson of Oaken.

Charity Date
Surely somewhere down the line the Charity Date event had been a joke between a few friends. Maybe a convenient plot point to pull two people together. The bid was very simple. Somebody would stand on stage and the director would aunction a date off to the crowd.
As a long-standing tradition, the Charity Date was one of the things that made its way onto the social calendars of the city. It was the perfect excuse to get dates people normally wouldn’t approve of, or to show off.
The event was all in good fun and the matches that got pulled off would fuel the gossip mills for years. There was an unspoken rule that anyone who was someone in the town had to put themselves on the list. At least once.
And so, new to the town, she found herself on the stage staring out into the crowd.  Despite knowing it was for a good cause she wanted nothing more than to run away and hide in her apartment. She could handle being in the spotlight, but this was a lot more literal then managing an operating theatre. The only thing keeping her from running was the fact she would break an ankle trying to go down the stairs at any speed. She didn’t need that to waylay her work towards a promotion. Instead she pasted on a polite smile and clenched her hands in the edges of her dress.
“And here is the lovely Elsa Winters, a newcomer to our city. The starting bid will be two hundred dollars.”  Elsa took a shallow breath as she heard offers from the crowd. She really shouldn’t have done this. She loathed being on the spotlight. She could already see several of her co-workers among the throng an the idea of any of them thinking they could slip their professional conduct for anything else? It was likely to have her hit the glass ceiling faster than if she had been shot out of a cannon.
“Five hundred, Mick.” All conversation stopped, as they looked towards the back of the room.
Elsa didn’t know quite what to day as Anna Arendelle came forward. She knew her, anybody who lived in town knew the Arendelles, they were the namesake of the city after all. And they had all of the connections, money and heritage behind such a position.
As Anna finished talking to Mick she tried to think of what else she knew. They had talked a few times at other events, Anna was the face of the Arendelle family and the manager of their properties.
“And here you go, your receipt.” Elsa worked the forced smile back to her face. Anna had managed to disentangle herself from Mick as the next bachelor was cheered onto the stage. Anna herself came over immediately, giving Elsa a sheepish look.
“Man, Mick has quite the silver tongue, could talk a miser out of his last penny.” Anna held out the ticket to Elsa, “Next time he comes up to try it on you again, bring up his kids. Mick never passes up a chance to talk about them.”
Elsa accepted the slip of paper, noticing the comical ‘valid for one date’ with her name written on it in her own handwriting. The voucher for the date. This was good, the two of them could get it over with now rather than later.
“I will take it under advisement.”
“Okay, now that I’ve done my good deed for the day, I’m off. Good night Dr. Winters.”
“You did pay for a date didn’t you?” Elsa held out the voucher, she was a woman of her word. She had known the consequences going in and Anna had just dropped five hundred for the date. It was for charity and it wasn’t like she was going to say no to getting to know someone like Anna better. She seemed just like friend material.
“You looked like you would rather face a volcano up there. Not that I wouldn’t love to have a date with someone as gorgeous as you, but it seems to be underhanded to get one like ths.” Elsa tilted her head and decided that Anna was going to get that date one way or another.
“How do you like spaghetti?” Elsa tapped Anna’s nose with the voucher.
“Why?”
“It is the fanciest thing I know to make.” Elsa tucked the voucher into her palm “Plus I can at the very least make you dinner after your generosity.”
Anna laughed and gave her a kiss on the cheek, “I am afraid I must pass, as wonderful as it sounds.”
Elsa knew when to regroup, “Well if ever you decide to cash it in just say. I make a wonderful dancing partner.”
Elsa watched Anna leave. Turning around Elsa decided she might as well retire herself. She was going to have to think this one over quite thoroughly.

Elsanna & L
thanks for the ask! this is uh a little angsty :( sorry!
The party Anna had dragged her to wasn’t particularly raucous. Just a few mates - Punz and Eugene were the only ones Elsa knew, and Kristoff, when he finally rocked up. Anna, the social butterfly that she was, knew everyone.
She’d only agreed because it had been Anna to ask, practically beg.
It won’t be any fun without you, she’d said. Please, Els?
And truthfully, Elsa wanted to make Anna happy. She liked seeing her smile, liked being the one to bring it to her lips. Every time she saw it, Elsa’s heart would thunder. Her ears would grow warm, chest aching. She would lean close, almost subconsciously…
Anything for that smile.
And maybe Anna felt the same way, too. They’d been friends for years, best friends. There had been countless sleepovers, late-night D&Ms, early morning jokes. Weekend movies and friendship dates that maybe could have been something else entirely.
So maybe Anna felt the same way, with their long hugs and shared spaces. Their soft smiles and burning blushes. Their gentle admittances to maybe perhaps not being as straight as their peers.
Of course Elsa wasn’t going to refuse Anna. She liked spending time with her, and even if she had to share that time at a party, it was still well-worth it.
And it was. Anna never left her side all night, knowing how Elsa felt around unfamiliar people. If she left to refill her drink, or go to the bathroom, she always told her beforehand, and was never away for long. The alcohol helped - after a couple of drinks, it wasn’t nearly so harrowing. Enough that she could join in on the game of truth or dare that everyone was starting up. Enough that the warm, bubbly feeling in her stomach couldn’t just be attributed to Anna smiling at her, red tint to her face.
Enough that the dare didn’t fully register until it did.
“Anna, I dare you to kiss your best friend.”
Time shuddered to a standstill as the group looked towards Anna. Elsa’s breath caught in her throat, gaze stuck on Anna even as her friend’s own eyes ping-ponged between her and Kristoff.
Elsa could feel her face heating up, and she was grateful, in the back of her mind, that no one was looking at her.
She wanted this. Longed for it, and had done so for months. Anna stood, on wobbly legs, and began moving. With each step forward, Elsa’s breath came shallower and shallower until Anna was right in front of her and it didn’t come at all.
Because Anna had walked right past her.
She swung a leg over Kristoff’s lap so she could sit down, holding his face as she kissed him.
This was not a peck. This was hot and messy, and something unpleasant curled in Elsa’s gut as she watched on. She, like everyone else present, was powerless to look away. Kristoff’s hands landed on Anna’s hips, squeezing as he desperately tried to keep up.
Finally, Anna pulled away. She was met with cheers and hoots, grinning self-consciously as she wiped her lips.
She didn’t look at Elsa. Elsa couldn’t tear her eyes away.
That should have been me…
