Final Evaluation
What informed and motivated my design decisions?
My design decisions for the entire journey of this project were informed and motivated by the various kinds of research I did. My primary research involving interviews led me to find the exact focus of my project. My secondary research on learning disabilities helped form a frame or context for the project. Lastly, my contemporary and contextual design research involving looking at relevant works by other designers helped inspire and guide my tone of voice , typographic, colour and overall design decisions.
What changes and developments has my project gone through?
My project first started out with a limited focus on people with Down's syndrome as it was inspired by my older brother. My initial idea was to create a job board website for people with downs syndrome. But through doing further primary and secondary research, I realized a need for focusing on the employment of all people with learning disabilities. My research also showed that the target audience of my awareness campaign and product had to be employers. So, eventually the idea of an awareness campaign and a toolkit that helps employers understand how to support and hire people with learning disabilities was born.
Did I manage my time well throughout the unit?
I think over the three months that we had to do this project, I went through different phases of managing my time well as well as falling behind and not being able to get enough done. My struggles with mental health including attention issues, anxiety and depression have often prevented me from being able to get as much work done as I would have wanted. However, I think I managed to work within the time to create a well rounded project that I am very proud of. The one thing where I wish I could have had some more time to work on would be the process book which I felt does not accurately reflect the kind of research and development that truly went into my project.
Are there areas of my design process that need more practice?
One aspect of my design process that has always needed work has been doing enough experimentation and development. I think with this project I made a huge improvement from previous projects in that aspect. I pushed myself very hard to do enough research and development throughout the project timeline. However, there is always scope for improvement in this aspect as well as overall time management.
On reflection, are there any Improvements that I would make to my final outcome ?
I was very happy with my final outcomes of the awareness campaign and the physical toolkit. I pushed the type and colour handling to be much bolder and more playful than I have ever done. I am proud of my final outcomes and I don't think I would make any changes to those. The only thing I wish to improve is my process book that I created on the project. I needed more time to create a more in depth document as I would have liked.

See the ability website
I created a website landing page and page where the toolkit is sold using adobe XD. The idea was to connect the poster campaign to the toolkit I created. The posters led people to the website where they can find the toolkits.

Out of home campaign
Mockups of banners for the out of home campaign. The simple combination of the images and logo (which in itself is a slogan) will be effective in making people curious about the campaign

The organization would need a social media presence as well where the awareness campaign could reach a wider audience.
The instagram page could share real stories and showcase the abilities of people with learning disabilities thus busting misconceptions many people might have.
