"Unacceptable" - Exeter Chiefs captain on racist abuse suffered by Ugo Monye | Rugby 2023/24
"Unacceptable" - Exeter Chiefs captain on racist abuse suffered by Ugo Monye | Rugby 2023/24 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isvYuf5xMvU Exeter Chiefs captain Jack Yeandle said the racist abuse suffered by former England and Harlequins player Ugo Monye is "unacceptable". Yeandle was speaking at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on Wednesday for the launch of the Champions Cup where he labelled the offender a "complete muppet". Police have "made contact" with a man in connection with the alleged racist abuse suffered by Monye after Sunday's match between Exeter and Gloucester. The 40-year-old former player, now a pundit, said the incident occurred as he was leaving Sandy Park following the Chiefs' 25-24 Gallagher Premiership victory. Devon and Cornwall Police said in a statement: "We have identified and made contact with a man in connection to the incident and we are in the process of speaking to the victim. "Our enquiries are currently ongoing into the incident." Monye wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, that as he was leaving the stadium, one supporter running through crowd repeatedly shouted a racist insult. He added: "Disgraceful. Not a single person said a word, challenged or even reported it. "He walks off after a mild scuffle and fans are now telling me 'We're with you' B******S you're with me. You weren't with me when you saw and heard the most blatant racism I've seen from a supporter at a live game. So fed up." Exeter swiftly issued a statement vowing to investigate the matter and apologising to Monye. It read: "In light of recent accusations regarding an incident of racist abuse at Sandy Park following the conclusion of our victory over Gloucester in the Gallagher Premiership, Exeter will be launching a full investigation. "This behaviour will not be tolerated at our rugby club, and we condemn it in the strongest possible terms. Dani Alves - Prosecutors request a 9-year prison sentence in rape case | Soccer
Dani Alves - Prosecutors request a 9-year prison sentence in rape case | Soccer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4fWVf2hsjA Prosecutors are seeking a nine-year prison sentence for Brazilian soccer player Dani Alves for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman last year, a Spanish court said Thursday. Alves is set to face trial over allegations he assaulted the woman in a night club in Barcelona on Dec. 30. He was indicted by an investigative judge in August and the court said this month there was enough evidence to open a trial. A date for the hearings was not yet set. The former Barcelona defender has denied any wrongdoing, claiming he had consensual sex with the accuser. Prosecutors also want Alves to pay 150,000 euros ($163,000) in damages to the victim, and to be prohibited from having any contact with her for an additional 10 years. They also want Alves to be remain supervised for a decade after serving his prison term. If found guilty, Alves would be prohibited from any type of work with minors for 10 years after his term, in accordance with Spanish law. Under Spain’s new sexual consent law, the charge of sexual assault takes in a wide array of crimes from online abuse and groping to rape, each with different possible punishments. A case of rape could carry a maximum sentence of 15 years. The 40-year-old Alves has been in pre-trial jail since January, when he was arrested after an initial investigation by authorities. All of Alves’ bail requests have been denied because the court has considered him a flight risk. The player had offered to turn in his passports and wear a tracking device while awaiting the court’s decision. Prosecutors this week again opposed the most recent request for freedom made by Alves' lawyers. Alves won 42 soccer titles, including three Champions Leagues with Barcelona and two Copa Americas with Brazil. He played at his third World Cup last year in Qatar. His lawyers did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Visit the WeShow Football store: https://www.youtube.com/weshowfootball/store LIKE our videos? Transgender women barred from playing in international women's cricket | Cricket
Transgender women barred from playing in international women's cricket | Cricket https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMyNy2aW97I Transgender women will not be allowed to compete in international women's cricket, the sport's governing body said Tuesday. The International Cricket Council said the “new gender eligibility regulation,” which was approved by board members, had been imposed to protect the integrity of women's cricket and was also made on safety grounds. “Male-to-female participants who have undergone male puberty will not be eligible to compete in the international women’s game,” the ICC said. It added that the regulations would apply “irrespective of any surgical or gender reassignment treatment" players may have undertaken. “The changes to the gender eligibility regulations resulted from an extensive consultation process and are founded in science, aligning with the core principles developed during the review," ICC chief executive Geoff Allardice said. “Inclusivity is incredibly important to us as a sport, but our priority was to protect the integrity of the international women’s game and the safety of players.” The ICC said the rules would be revisited within two years to “align with the sport’s evolving landscape.” Decisions to allow transgender women play at domestic level will be made by individual member boards, the body said. The ICC also announced equal pay for female match officials regardless of whether they were officiating men's or women's games. Woods to play in the Bahamas his first competition since the Masters | Golf
Woods to play in the Bahamas, his first competition since the Masters | Golf https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUFmzkN2zvQ Tiger Woods showed he could walk four days while caddying for his son. Now he has decided he is fit enough to try to play. Woods announced on social media Saturday he will be playing in the Hero World Challenge, which starts Nov. 30 at Albany Golf Club in the Bahamas. It will be his first time competing since he withdrew before the third round at the Masters after battling the wind and cold while playing on his injured right leg. His TGR company announced his decision to take a sponsor exemption. The 20-man field is for the top 50 in the world ranking, though the tournament host — Woods — is exempt. Woods had said in an interview with The Associated Press last week, when discussing his ownership of a team in the tech-driven TGL league, that his right ankle is pain-free after being fused in a surgery in April following the Masters. “My ankle is fine. Where they fused my ankle, I have absolutely zero issue whatsoever,” Woods said. “That pain is completely gone. It’s the other areas that have been compensated for.” He compared it with when he had fusion surgery on his lower back. He said the L5 and S1 vertebrae were fine. “But all the surrounding areas is where I had all my problems and I still do,” he said. “So you fix one, others have to become more hypermobile to get around it, and it can lead to some issues.” Woods recently caddied for his son, Charlie, at the Notah Begay III Junior Golf Championship, sparking speculation that he was close to playing again. Woods will be playing the Hero World Challenge for the first time since 2019. The holiday event was canceled in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and then he badly damaged his right leg in a February 2021 car crash outside of Los Angeles that threatened to end his career. He returned a year later at the Masters and made the cut, and he played in two more majors, including what figures to be his final appearance at St. Andrews in the British Open. He has said his tournament play would be limited, and he played only the Genesis Invitational at Riviera, which he hosts, and the Masters this year before having surgery on his ankle. Woods has not won since the Zozo Championship in Japan in the fall of 2019, the year he won the Masters for his 15th major. The Hero World Challenge is 72 holes with no cut. PHOTOEDIT: Head knock leads Australia to World Cup glory | Cricket
PHOTOEDIT: Head knock leads Australia to World Cup glory | Cricket https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zi3ePKrrk_k A brilliant century from Travis Head steered Australia to a comfortable six-wicket win over hosts India in the World Cup final on Sunday. Put in to bat by captain Pat Cummins, India struggled for boundaries after the opening power-play as Australia silenced the enormous crowd at Narendra Modi Stadium. KL Rahul top scored for the hosts with 66, and player of the tournament Virat Kohli also reached a half-century - his ninth of this World Cup - but India finished 240 all out in exactly 50 overs and went on to suffer their first defeat of the tournament. An aggressive start saw Australia lose three early wickets, but Head's knock of 137 - in a 192-run, fourth-wicket partnership with Marnus Labuschagne - took his side to the verge of victory. Head fell with two just runs needed, but Glenn Maxwell picked them up off the first ball he faced and Australia won the World Cup for a record sixth time, with five of those titles coming in the last seven tournaments. Official UEFA Euro 2024 ball presented in Germany | EURO 2024
Official UEFA Euro 2024 ball presented in Germany | EURO 2024 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuR7Sbn6bNs The official Euro 2024 match ball was presented at the Olympic stadium in Berlin on Wednesday. The Adidas development team have christened it "Fussballliebe" - "love of football." As part of the presentation in the presence of national goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and UEFA partners Célia Šašić and Philipp Lahm, a gigantic version of the ball was revealed. Wednesday's presentation of ball marked the start of a multi-week series of activities across Germany to celebrate the 'love of football' and raise anticipation of the European Championships in Germany. The design of the ball represents the movement of the ball and "the energy of the game through distinctive black wing shapes complemented by colourful edges, curves and dots" said Vice President of Design, Adidas Football, Sam Handy at the presentation. "Colors of red, blue, green and orange reflect both the vibrancy of the participating nations and the pure simplicity of football. The names of each host city are also shown, along with illustrations of each stadium," said Handy. For the first time, the official match ball of the UEFA European Football Championship will be equipped with “Connected Ball Technology.” This technology sends precise ball data to the video referees in real time. By combining player position data with artificial intelligence, the innovation contributes to UEFA's semi-automated offside technology, enabling faster game decisions. The technology, developed in close collaboration with Kinexon, also helps video referees identify every single touch of the ball and thus reduce the time required to resolve handball and penalty incidents. Argentina prepare to welcome Uruguay in Buenos Aires | FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers
Argentina prepare to welcome Uruguay in Buenos Aires | FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hU8lPqtBsA Lionel Messi and Luiz Suárez, close friends and former teammates at Barcelona, will renew their on-the-field rivalry on Thursday in World Cup qualifying. Messi, who appears to have recovered from a muscle injury in his leg, led Argentina to its third World Cup title last year and has his team in first place in the South American qualifying group for the 2026 tournament. The 36-year-old Suárez has just returned to Uruguay's national team as he nears the end of a high-scoring season in the Brazilian league. The Argentines will take on two-time World Cup champion Uruguay at La Bombonera Stadium in Buenos Aires. Messi will likely be playing his last two matches of the calendar year against Uruguay and then Brazil next week at the Maracana Stadium. The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner finished his season with Inter Miami on Oct. 21. Suárez, a teammate of Messi at Barcelona from 2014-20, will return to Uruguay's national team for the first time under coach Marcelo Bielsa. The veteran striker earned his place despite knee pain, which he doesn't hide during every match for Brazilian club Gremio. Both Argentina and Uruguay are expected to qualify for the next World Cup, but Messi and Suarez are not guaranteed to be with their national teams in 2026. Argentina leads the 10-team South American qualifying group with 12 points from four matches. Uruguay, Brazil and Venezuela have seven points each and are separated by goal difference. Colombia has six points, while Ecuador, Paraguay and Chile have four each. Peru has one point and Bolivia has zero. The next World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada will include 48 teams, meaning direct entry for the top six teams in South America. The seventh-place team will contest an intercontinental playoff for a berth. Visit the WeShow Football store: https://www.youtube.com/weshowfootball/store LIKE our videos? 'I love Tyson' - Usyk speaks to SNTV ahead of Fury bout | Boxing
'I love Tyson' - Usyk speaks to SNTV ahead of Fury bout | Boxing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMz7RpLVivA Oleksandr Usyk spoke exclusively to SNTV on Thursday, looking ahead to his rescheduled world heavyweight unification bout against Tyson Fury. Unbeaten Ukrainian Usyk, who holds the IBF, WBO + IBO belts, had been due to fight WBC champion Fury in Saudi Arabia on 23rd December, but the bout has been rescheduled to take place in February following the Briton's recent battle with Francis Ngannou. Former UFC heavyweight champion Ngannou wasn't expected to give Fury too tough a time in what was the Cameroonian's first boxing match, but the 'Gypsy King' was knocked down in the third round and was taken the distance before winning on a split decision. After seeing their man go perilously close to losing his unbeaten record, Fury's team contacted Usyk to postpone the December fight, although an exact date in February has yet to be confirmed. Rory hits LIV saying his new golf venture is the right kind of innovation | Golf https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BrbjNOJf10 Rory McIlroy tried to contrast his and Tiger Woods' new start up golf league as the right kind of innovation compared that which LIV Golf has instituted since their founding last year. McIlroy was speaking at a news conference at Fenway Park introducing the four-player team for Boston Common when argued that LIV and it's 54 hole, no cut team play is stuck in "no man's land" compared to TGL's plans. "We’re (trying) to be competitive and it’s a different type of golf but it’s not the traditional golf that you see week in, week out," McIlroy said. "I don’t want to sit here and talk about LIV (Golf) but you could make the argument that they haven’t innovated enough from what traditional golf is or they have innovated too much that they’re not traditional golf. They’re sort of cut in no man’s land where as (TGL) is so far removed from what we know golf to be.” While TGL is also a team-based golf league, it will be played played over 15 holes that combines an oversized simulator with actual shots to a tech-infused green that can change contours depending on the shot. TGL will launch in January next year at newly constructed SoFi Center in Florida with five of the six four-man teams announced for New York, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Atlanta. Swiatek breaks Serena's record & Back to No.1 | Tennis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_lQRwdwBDE Last year, Swiatek famously ran off with 37 straight wins, more than anyone else this century. She had no competition for her No.1 ranking and was in a league of her own. But this year was not so good. In September, her 75-week run as the No.1 player came to an end after the US Open. Swiatek was visibly shaken.as Aryna Sabalenka took over. Argentine forward German Cano gave Fluminense the lead with a 36th minute strike but Luis Advincula equalised for Jorge Almiron's side in the second half with a long-range effort.
