"the basics, huh...?" sigma rubs his stubbly chin, looking thoughtful. there's a science behind making chocolate, isn't there? he's gotta respect that, as a fellow scientist. he hadn't respected it when he made his first attempt, and look where that got him.

"y'know what, sure! why the hell not?" maybe he'd get something more than just chocolate knowledge out of it. you never know what you can apply to robotics...

the cat pun, as expected, earns a giggle from her. who doesn't appreciate a silly cat pun? people with no joy. no whimsy. could never be ritsuka. "cute cat ears, by the way," she comments.

"yeah, i guess i've got a lot of experience making chocolate by now, huh?" did it only just occur to her how abnormal the amount of chocolates she makes every year is? "hm." her eyes light up as an idea pops into her head. "oh! i'm no chocolatier or anything, but if you want, maybe i could teach you the basics or something? it could be fun!"

whooo, valentine's! who doesn't love valentine's? a guy who's single for the first time in months, probably. but he's trying to play along in the spirit of things-- there's a pair of fuzzy pink cat ears on his head.

"meow-ny thanks!" he accepts the box with a grin. "i'm not that picky anyway." sigma pops a chocolate into his mouth and his eyes light up. "--mm, these're pretty good! you made them yourself? you must've done this before. i tried to make chocolates for a girlfriend one time and it was a disaster."

sigma pulls his finger out of his mouth and sighs. in theory, ritsuka would be correct... but there's one roadblock.

"not gonna work." he holds his hand out to her, displaying the cut. there on his finger... it's "bleeding" white, not red. "i mean, i don't think so, since my arms aren't made of biological material." they look and act like normal arms, but they're prosthetics he built himself. he taps his cybernetic eye. "i lost both my arms and this eye in... some bullshit. man, i don't know, i wasn't even there for it."

he goes back to rummaging through the bin next to him, not explaining how he can be maimed in an incident he wasn't even present for.

it's gotta be her?! a light blush dusts her cheeks--does he even realize what he's saying?! nobody in their right mind would leave matters of magecraft to her when there are other options available! and the worst part is, it's not even flattery! he's being sincere! ritsuka's stunned for a moment before breaking into a huge grin. "r-right. makes sense. i'll do my best!"

she can't answer his question right away--really, it's a surprisingly tough one. most of the magecraft at her disposal is geared towards supporting combatants, and doesn't have obvious visual effects. her thoughts are interrupted a mere moment after; hearing him go "ow", she looks over on instinct and asks, "did you cut yourself or something?"

and then she realizes. "oh, wait, this works! i mean, it feels like a little bit of a waste to use a healing spell on a little scratch like that, but it's fine. do you need to get anything ready first?"

dont even fucking talk to me about lilia losing both the people he considered his life partners (BASICALLY CANON WE LOVE A BI KING) and having to help raise their child in their absence even though he insists hes not capable of the sort of love a child needs

and then he proves it AGAIN when he awakens baby silver from his slumber, a spell that can ONLY be broken once somebody loves him, and lilia loved that child so much even though he's the child of the person who killed his partners
