Father publicly disowns alt-right son after Charlottesville violence
A father has publicly denounced his son for holding racist views following his participation in this weekend's violent white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.
My name is Pearce Tefft, and I am writing to all, with regards to my youngest son, Peter Tefft, an avowed white nationalist who has been featured in a number of local news stories over the last several months, the father began inhis letter to the editor, which appeared on the news site Inforum.
The younger Tefft was identified on Twitter as a white nationalist attendee of the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, which turned violent on Saturday. Peter posted photos of himself in Charlottesville and statements about the rally on his Twitter and Facebook profiles.

I, along with all of his siblings and his entire family, wish to loudly repudiate my son's vile, hateful, and racist rhetoric and actions, Pearce wrote in his letter. We do not know specifically where he learned these beliefs. He did not learn them at home.
He continued:
Peter Tefft, my son, is not welcome at our family gatherings any longer. I pray my prodigal son will renounce his hateful beliefs and return home. Then and only then will I lay out the feast.
His hateful opinions are bringing hateful rhetoric to his siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews as well as his parents. Why must we be guilty by association? Again, none of his beliefs were learned at home. We do not, never have, and never will, accept his twisted worldview.
Jacob Scott, the younger Tefft's nephew, also spoke out against his uncle's pro-white views, telling local Minnesota news outlet WDAY that Peter scares us all.
In brief, we reject him wholly-both him personally as a vile person who has HIMSELF made violent threats against our family, and also his hideous ideology, which we abhor. We are all bleeding-heart liberals who believe in the fundamental equality of all human beings, Scott said in a statement. Peter is a maniac, who has turned away from all of us and gone down some insane internet rabbit-hole and turned into a crazy Nazi. He scares us all, we don't feel safe around him, and we don't know how he came to be this way. My grandfather feels especially grieved, as though he has failed as a father.
The controversial rally in Charlottesville turned tragic on Saturday after a young Ohio man, 20-year-old James Fields Jr., who isreportedly associated with white supremacists plowed his car into a group of counterprotesters, injuring 19 and killing one woman, 32-year-old Heather Heyer of Charlottesville.
In a post on Facebook, Peter claimed local and state authorities were to blame for violence in Charlottesville. Any blood is on the hands of the police, the city of Charlottesville and the state of Virginia, he wrote. Peter also questioned whether Fields had ties to the alt-right because his mother has a Jewish-sounding name and the alt-right as a movement is very critical of Jews and membership of Jews in the alt-right is frowned upon.

Leader of neo-Nazi group linked to Charlottesville attack was a US marine
Dillon Hopper, the self-styled commander of the Vanguard America group that attacker James Fields marched with, was an officer in the US marine corps
The leader of the neo-Nazi group that James Fields marched with in Charlottesville, Virginia, on Saturday before allegedly killing a protester with his car served in the US marine corps until earlier this year.
Dillon Hopper, the self-styled commander of Vanguard America, is a recently retired marine staff sergeant and veteran of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Members of his white supremacist group marched in Virginia last weekend.
Hopper, 29, has been using his former name, Dillon Irizarry, when appearing in public for Vanguard America. But he officially changed his name to Dillon Ulysses Hopper in November 2006, according to court records in his native New Mexico.
Hoppers active duty with the marines ended in January this year, according to a Department of Defense record. He has lived in California and Ohio since returning to the US. Hoppers full service record could not immediately be obtained. His Facebook avatar is currently a cartoon image of Donald Trump building a wall.
Hopper and Vanguard America did not respond to messages seeking comment. Hoppers identity was first reported by Splinter.
Fields, a 20-year-old military bootcamp dropout from Maumee, Ohio, has been charged with crimes including murder after allegedly driving his Dodge Challenger into a crowd of people in Charlottesville who were demonstrating against the far-right. The crash killed 32-year-old Heather Heyer and injured about 20 others.
Donald Trump finally condemns racism in Charlottesville
Fields had been photographed standing among members of Vanguard America earlier in the day. He was pictured holding a shield bearing the groups logo and was wearing the same distinctive outfit white polo shirt and khakis as many Vanguard members. The group has said, however, that Fields is not a member.
Vanguard America is only about a year old. It is one of a handful of new white supremacist organizations that are attempting to radicalize young white men across the country. Its manifesto is racist and its website URL references the Nazi slogan blood and soil. The group bars people who are not of white European heritage.

Hopper was promoted to staff sergeant by the marines in October last year, according to a local news report, and had been due to train, teach and mentor potential marine officers. The article said Hopper had joined the military shortly after graduating from high school in Roswell, New Mexico, in 2005.
In a speech to fellow Nazis in Pikeville, Kentucky, earlier this year, Hopper said that since taking over the leadership of American Vanguard he had tried to strengthen the group with lessons learned from his time in the military.
Ive kind of tooken [sic] that experience and scrubbed the Vanguard pretty good with it, Hopper said, and Im getting a pretty good product.

In an interview with the Guardian in May, a Vanguard America organizer from Texas, who would identify himself only as a vice commander named Thomas, said that a large percentage of Vanguards members are college-aged, and that most are in their early twenties. Members must be aged between 18 and 45.
Like Identity Evropa, a similar white nationalist group, Vanguard America seeks to recruit clean-cut, more professional white men, rebranding racist organizing in a preppier image. Visible neck and hand tattoos, for instance, are discouraged, and one organizer said that obese men would be disqualified from joining.
We also uphold standards of dress and grooming and physical fitness because our ideology is one of strength and purity and self-improvement, he said.
Thomas would not provide any details about the groups process for vetting members, other than to say that it included an interview. A questionnaire once used by the group for screening, which was obtained by the Guardian, asked for details of applicants professions, beliefs and criminal histories. It asked how often they consumed tobacco or alcohol and how long youve been red pilled, a phrase used on the far-right to mean aware of supposed difficult truths.
Vanguard America has attracted attention by putting up racist posters on college campuses in areas such as Maryland, Washington DC and Texas.
In May, a 23-year-old black college student was stabbed to death by a white man on the University of Marylands campus. Richard Collins III, was about to graduate, and had just been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the US army.
The alleged killer had been part of a Facebook group named Alt-Reich, authorities said. The Vanguard America spokesman objected to links between made between Collinss stabbing and the white nationalist posters that had appeared on campus.
There are murders of all ideologies, he said, going on to say: We dont promote this kind of action.

Teens Get Married After Meeting on Mission Trip1 Day Later, They Go to Heaven Together

You never know where you're going to meet the love of your life. For Austin Wesson and Rebekah Bouma, it was on separate Christian mission trips in Austin's home country of South Africa.

The two 19-year-olds met this past year while serving, and very quickly knew they'd met the one. After spending much of their relationship FaceTiming, Austin popped the question, and the young missionaries planned a small wedding.
On Friday, August 4, they tied the knot at a U.S. courthouse in Kansas, with plans to have a bigger celebration with friends and family later this year.

They were very much in love, John Bouma, Rebekah's dad, said of the new couple. There was no doubt whatsoever that their love was the real thing.
On Saturday, less than 24 hours after making their marriage official, the newlyweds were in a horrific car accident in which they lost control of the truck they were driving, struck an embankment and crashed into a tree just outside of Clearwater, Kansas.
Austin was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rebekah was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. She joined her husband in heaven on Monday.
In a Facebook post by Rebekah's mother, Rachel Byker Bouma, the grieving mom asked for prayers for both families:
It is with an unbearably shattered heart that we inform you that our darling daughter, Rebekah Christina, went peacefully into the arms of her loving Savior at 12:32 am, Monday, August 7. She is with the Lord that she loved so deeply and so joyfully and she is with her husband of just one day, Austin Wesson, whom she loved with all her heart.
We thank God that they are together while grieving their loss so very deeply.
A family friend has set up a GoFundMe on the couple's behalf to help care for their families during this time.
They both loved the Lord, John Bouma said. They wanted to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Austin and Rebekah's love story has a tragic ending. But I'm confident that their work here on earth isn't done yet. Both teens touched the lives of many, and their love for the Lord and each other is inspiring.

Pink's beautiful, unexpected response when her daughter was feeling 'ugly.'
If you follow Pink at all, you know she's a pretty awesome mom.
Her Instagram account is filled with adorable pics of her with her two young kids. In these posts, Pink is down to earth, honest, and best of all, has a great sense of humor about the whole parenting journey:

In her speech at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards, Pink shared an amazing and powerful story about -and for - her daughter.
After winning the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, Pink took the stage and stepped to the mic. It was clear she had something important on her mind.
Recently I was driving my daughter to school and she said to me, out of the blue, 'Momma I'm the ugliest girl I know,' Pink recalled. 'I look like a boy with long hair.'
Hearing your child being hard on themselves is a heartbreaking moment for any parent. But if you think Pink just blurted out, OMG, what? Baby, you are so pretty! well you don't know Pink.
I went home and I made a PowerPoint presentation for her, Pink said.
And in that presentation were androgynous rockstars and artists that lived their truth, she added. [People] who are probably made fun of every day of their life and carry on and wave their flag and inspire the rest of us.
She listed a handful of world-changing talents, like Michael Jackson and Elton John, like Pink herself, who never let anyone's expectations or opinions hold them back. Proving her point even further, Pink, her daughter, and her husband Carey Hart all showed up at the VMAs last night wearing matching suits.

On stage, Pink shared this monumental moment of parenting clarity: Yes, most kids will battle with self-image and self-esteem at some point, and no, of course, they should never be made to feel like they are ugly or that their bodies are wrong in any way.
BUT - in our rush to reassure our kids that they are beautiful or handsome or pretty or cute, we should never forget that these are moments when we can teach them that there are greater things to aspire to than traditional standards of beauty because beauty is subjective.

Houston combating Harvey looters with mandatory jail time
The City of Houston and surrounding counties are not playing around with looters taking advantage of the massive floods caused by Harvey.
People displaced or harmed in this storm are not going to be easy prey, Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said, noting that burglarizing a home in a disaster area could carry a life sentence under Texas law. Prosecutors said at least 14 suspected looters were arrested, and Brazoria County announced a curfew in mandatory-evacuation areas for Tuesday night.
Anyone who tries to take advantage of this storm to break into homes or businesses should know that they are going to feel the full weight of the law, Ogg said. Offenders will be processed around the clock without delay.
The Montgomery County District Attorney's officeposted a warning on Monday that any looters, thieves or burglars caught victimizing area residents would be arrested and served up mandatory jail time, according to the Houston Chronicle.
(District Attorney Brett) Ligon announced today that his office will seek prison or jail time in each and every forthcoming case where the defendant stands charged with theft (looting), burglary, robbery, or any similar crime committed during Hurricane Harvey, the DA's office posted on Facebook. Leniency and probation will be off the table for these offenses committed during this time.
According to Montgomery County officials, state law allows for enhanced punishment ranges for certain offenses committed during a declared natural disaster event.
Ligon also commented on the need to enforce the law.

[L]aw-enforcement and first responder efforts have been tremendous in our County these last few days and they must remain focused, Ligonsaid in a released statement. We stand behind all our law-enforcement agencies and will support their decisions to shut down and immediately arrest suspected criminals during this difficult time for our community.
Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo said during a news conference Tuesday that armed robbers were apprehended overnight and a handful of looters also were taken into custody. He didn't say just how many have been arrested on charges related to looting.
Acevedo says he's spoken with the Harris County district attorney's office to ensure anyone suspected of looting is prosecuted. He also says he'll lobby judges and prosecutors to secure the most severe punishment Texas law allows.
State law allows for penalty enhancements for crimes like burglary and robbery that occur during a state of disaster.

Clyde Cain of the Louisiana Cajun Navy's described a chaotic scene out on the floodwaters. The Cajun Navy is a group of volunteers that formed in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina. They have dispatched people to help during Harvey.
Cain says some people are posing as rescuers and are robbing people. He says the Cajun Navy is being very careful when they approach stores that may be the target of looters.
The sherriff for Harris County also issued a caveat for looters on Twitter.

Criminal charges sought for protesters who toppled Confederate statue in North Carolina
When protesters, angry over the deadly incidents in Virginia this weekend, decided to take down a nearly century-old statue of a Confederate soldier in North Carolina on Monday, law enforcement stood back and watched.
At no time did officers with the Durham Police Department or deputies with the Durham County Sheriffs Office intervene as activists brought a ladder up to the statue and used a rope to pull it down, according to multiple media reports.
No one was arrested Monday, however, a day later, Durham County Sheriff Mike Andrews announced investigators were working to identify the protesters and planned to bring criminal charges against them.
We decided that restraint and public safety would be our priority, Andrews said in a statement posted on his agency'swebsite. As the Sheriff, I am not blind to the offensive conduct of some demonstrators nor will I ignore their criminal conduct.
He continued: My deputies showed great restraint and respect for the constitutional rights of the group expressing their anger and disgust for recent events in our country. Racism and incivility have no place in our country or Durham.
Calls seeking additional comment were not immediately returned Tuesday.
The Confederate Soldiers Monument in Durham was dedicated in 1924 and shows a soldier holding a rifle. After it came down, a diverse crowd of dozens cheered, and some even began kicking the crumpled bronze monument.
Some took pictures standing or sitting on the toppled soldier, in front of a pedestal inscribed with the words: In Memory of the Boys Who Wore The Gray.
The Durham demonstration followed a white nationalist rally held in Charlottesville, Virginia, during the weekend. One woman was killed Saturday after a man, who police believe was one of the white nationalists, drove his car into a group of peaceful counter-protesters.
Although the violence in Virginia has prompted fresh talk by government officials about bringing down symbols of the Confederacy around the South, North Carolina has a law protecting the statues. The 2015 law prevents removing such monuments on public property without permission from state officials.
In response to the statue in Durham being torn down, Democratic North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper tweeted: The racism and deadly violence in Charlottesville is unacceptable but there is a better way to remove these monuments.
After the statue fell, several dozen protesters congregated on the street in front of the old courthouse as police cruisers blocked off the street, and officers looked on some filming the events.

The Durham Police Department said in a statement Monday that officers monitored the protests that occurred throughout the city to ensure the protests were conducted in a safe manner and that no infractions occurred within city jurisdiction.
In the statement, police said because the Confederate monument was located on county property, no arrests were made by DPD officers, as the county sheriffs office has jurisdiction over all county buildings and landmarks.
Its unclear if the statue will be repaired and replaced. Calls to county officials were not immediately returned.
In his statement Tuesday, Andrews said he is asking city and county officials to establish guidelines and safe spaces for protesters to prevent demonstrations from becoming disruptive and as we witnessed in Charlottesville, dangerous.
My Agency has been the focus of demonstrations for more than a year, most of them peaceful, Andrews continued. However, now may be the time for Durham to consider what is the best way to respond to continued protests while respecting every residents right to voice their opinion.
Laura Ingraham, founder and editor-in-chief of Lifezette, told Fox and Friends on Tuesday that protesters who tear down Confederate monuments are eradicating American history.
When you see bands of criminals, which is what they were yesterday, ripping down public property and being celebrated in the American media for doing so, we have a real problem on our hands, she said. This is not about racial healing or racial unity when you see property being destroyed. That's not what it's about. It's about the eradication of history and acknowledgment that we had really difficult, horrible moments in our country's history that we were able to overcome.

New harassment charges surface after Fox News pulls Eric Bolling from air following story alleging lewd texts

Yashar Ali reported Saturday evening thatCaroline Heldman, who appeared on Fox News between 2008 and 2011, accused Bolling of being one of three Fox News/Fox Business employees who sexually harassed her:
I did hundreds of appearances on Fox and Fox Business from 2008 2011, and had multiple experiences with Bolling that caused grave concern to my friends and family. Bolling referred to me as Dr. McHottie on air on four different occasions, and called me smart, beautiful, and wrong on air twice, Heldman wrote in her Facebook post.
My only surprise is that it took this long for people to come forward about Bollings behavior, which has been wildly inappropriate for years, Heldman wrote on Facebook in response to Friday's report that Bolling had sent lewd texts.

Ali reported Friday that he spoke to a dozen sources who alleged that Bolling sent an unsolicited photo of male genitalia via text message to at least two colleagues at Fox Business and one colleague at Fox News. Ali added thatthe messages were sent several years ago, on separate occasions.

President Trump fired back at Mitch McConnell on Wednesday for the Senate majority leaders suggestion that the president had excessive expectations about what Congress could achieve during his first six months in office. Senator Mitch McConnell said I had excessive expectations, but I don't think so. After 7 years of hearing Repeal & Replace, why not done? Trump wrote on Twitter, referring to congressional Republicans failed attempts to repeal and replace Obamacare. Speaking at an event in Kentucky, McConnell said Congress gets low marks because the president and others have set these early timelines about things need to be done by a certain point. He added: I think [Trump] had excessive expectations about how quickly things happen in the democratic process.

Pink's beautiful, unexpected response when her daughter was feeling 'ugly.'
If you follow Pink at all, you know she's a pretty awesome mom.
Her Instagram account is filled with adorable pics of her with her two young kids. In these posts, Pink is down to earth, honest, and best of all, has a great sense of humor about the whole parenting journey:

But even Pink has challenging moments as a parent.
In her speech at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards, Pink shared an amazing and powerful story about -and for - her daughter.
After winning the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, Pink took the stage and stepped to the mic. It was clear she had something important on her mind.
Recently I was driving my daughter to school and she said to me, out of the blue, 'Momma I'm the ugliest girl I know,' Pink recalled. 'I look like a boy with long hair.'
Hearing your child being hard on themselves is a heartbreaking moment for any parent. But if you think Pink just blurted out, OMG, what? Baby, you are so pretty! well you don't know Pink.
I went home and I made a PowerPoint presentation for her, Pink said.
And in that presentation were androgynous rockstars and artists that lived their truth, she added. [People] who are probably made fun of every day of their life and carry on and wave their flag and inspire the rest of us.
She listed a handful of world-changing talents, like Michael Jackson and Elton John, like Pink herself, who never let anyone's expectations or opinions hold them back. Proving her point even further, Pink, her daughter, and her husband Carey Hart all showed up at the VMAs last night wearing matching suits.

On stage, Pink shared this monumental moment of parenting clarity: Yes, most kids will battle with self-image and self-esteem at some point, and no, of course, they should never be made to feel like they are ugly or that their bodies are wrong in any way.
BUT - in our rush to reassure our kids that they are beautiful or handsome or pretty or cute, we should never forget that these are moments when we can teach them that there are greater things to aspire to than traditional standards of beauty because beauty is subjective.
Baby girl, we don't change, Pink said to thundering applause. We help other people to change so they can see more kinds of beauty.

Sarah Paulson will play Michigan lesbian Ally who is devastated by the news when Donald Trump is officially elected President. Post-election, problems that Ally has been having involving sleep and hallucinations of clowns don't seem to be getting better, but are actually getting worse despite therapy and a loving wife played by Allison Pill. A blue-haired, seemingly Trump obsessed Evan Peters appears to have it out for Ally and her family and convinces a very ominous Billie Lourd to become the family nanny, who really start to mess some shit up for the Midwest couple and their son.
It's basically everything a nightmare is made of.
