That was the Selene that Duncan remembered. Kind and helpful with a sense of pride in her ability to help out. Duncan could feel it just by looking at her, she carried the energy of somebody who knew exactly what she was doing when she spoke to him.
"Oh!" Duncan spoke aloud when the girl before him mentioned a charging station. Sure enough, a clearly-marked station was nearby, free for him to use. Duncan walked over and plugged his dead phone in, causing a little icon of an exhausted but resting Rotom phone to appear on the screen, indicating that it was charging.
With that out of the way, Duncan found an empty seat in the lobby near his friend, hoping to catch up with her after being away for a while.

"So. How have things been? Anything exciting happen while I was away this time?" Duncan asked with an excited curiosity. He enjoyed hearing of the goings-on in the city after coming back from his trips, and the stories about Aegis were some of his favorites. Truth be told, however, just hearing from Selene at all was enough to keep him interested, even if the story itself was of little substance.
While he waited for a response from his friend, however, something was nagging at him a little bit. Was something about her...different? It wasn't her voice. Maybe the way she talked?
"...Naaah. I've just been away for too long, that's all."
Duncan took a walk through Lumiose, reacquainting himself with the place a little, before making his way to meet up with Selene at her apartment. He couldn't help but have a smile on his face. He was excited to see her again after being away for a while...
...but apparently Selene's sister Helios lives in that apartment now with a guy named Kurt. whoops.
After clearing up the confusion, being directed to the right place and exchanging a friendly see-you-later between himself and the current residents, Duncan set off to the Aegis Refuge, where Selene *actually* lives, hoping she doesn't decide to move again before he gets there.
When he arrived, he was pleasantly surprised by the sight of a girl with familiar white hair that he knew without a shadow of a doubt belonged to Selene.

"So this is where you've been!" Duncan began as he approached. "I've been looking forward to meeting up for a while. Good to see you!" Duncan walked into the girl's view, a friendly smile on his face. "Been a while, huh? My phone's been dead, so I haven't been able to reach out to anybody for a while now. You, uh...wouldn't happen to have a charger on you, would you?" Duncan asked, holding his powerless phone in one hand.

Back to the City of Light
Lumiose City was always a refreshing sight to Duncan. It was a city whose tall buildings and lively citizenry were a stark contrast to the quiet trees and wildlife Duncan had been surrounding himself with for the past few months. As much as he loved the outdoorsy life, it was still good to be back to civilization. More than that, it was good to be back to a place where he could see the people he cared about, and seeing one such person was his first goal once entering the city, which had excited and motivated him the entire journey back. Most others' first goal would be finding a place to bathe after being away in the wilderness for so long, but luckily Duncan had found a nice secluded spot for that not long before making the trek back to the city.
His Gengar buddy, Akumu, was hiding out in the shadow Duncan cast as the sun above shined its rays down on him. He could sense him there, which brought Duncan comfort. He was no stranger to Lumiose, but after being away for so long there was the tiniest bit of anxiety that was dulled by the presence of a close Pokémon friend.
He went to grab his phone to contact the person he planned to visit, a close friend by the name of Selene Deo, but before his hand could reach his pocket, he remembered the battery was long dead.

"Right...Note to self: befriend an Electric-type next time."
It wouldn't be a problem for long. Duncan still remembered where Selene's apartment was, so he would just swing by and surprise her. She'd probably enjoy that. Duncan would simply hope she isn't one to be too strict about calling ahead before showing up. In the meantime, he'd take in the sights and sounds of the City of Light as he made his way to her home.
