Is there a Lion King fandom on here? Been working on this Kovu model! Still some stuff to do on it, but I'd like to get him animated at some point too :D

Kovu from The Lion King 2, made by Mattel. He has a sound box inside that still makes an odd purring sound, and has very floppy weighted paws. Found in local recycle shop in January 2023.

The original was pretty much a version of the Kiara's first hunt scene with Shani instead of Kiara, same pose and everything. I did go to my animation source account and discovered the original was still there, and was like, "I kinda wanna make a new, fresh, version of this". So, I did!

First of all, I changed the posing. Perhaps the biggest challenge of them all. It is so so difficult to find references of lions nuzzling each other, and then translating it into the Lion King style. I gave Nala more signs of aging, since she is Shani's grandma.

I think for the story here, it is after Shani returns home to the pride lands after running away as an adolescent and Nala embracing her. When Shani was gone, Simba had died and Kiara became Queen of the Pridelands and thus, Nala becomes the Queen Mother. I like to think that Nala lives to be very old, like the British Queen Mother irl and tells stories of Scar's reign and such. Kiara later grants her formerly estranged daughter the title "Princess Royal".

Anyways, I hope you like it!
