I am tired, Klint. I will not argue with you further.
ただ…私があなたを愛していること、そして私はいつもあなたを愛していることを知ってください。
Have you ever considered that your tendency to self-flagellate and blame yourself for everything might only serve to teach your brother to do the same? Like it's some honourable trait that he should take after because you do it?
Is that the kind of life you want for him?

My brother is a grown man taller and older than I am. As you may have noticed, he isn't a serial killer. I highly doubt he would continue to model himself after someone such as myself.

well... he wasnt caught even when your brother was on his trail because... your brother stopped his investigation to walk me home. i was just a kid, but we found the body not sixty feet from my flat... he wouldve caught the professor if i hadnt been there to slow him down... thats why the reaper existed until mr handsome made him stop, right? because the professor was never caught... and you got hurt because of it...
.........
No. Mx. Aoibheann, believe me, you had nothing to do with the Professor's fate. I have it on good authority that the act of walking you home that night did not impact my brother's investigation whatsoever.

No, Inspector, I do not wish to engage in arson with either of you. In fact, I daresay there is nothing I could possibly find more unappealing.

... You are different because you are my brother.
I may have believed you once... And perhaps... I even convinced myself that I believed you after that, when it might be argued that I shouldn't have. Call me foolish if you will; or perhaps you should call me a prisoner of my circumstances. How was I to confront such a terrifying truth, when my own brother—who had always guided me in everything else—turned away from me in shame?
I can remember only one time that I have truly doubted you, Klint, and those couple of days were the darkest I have ever faced. Darker, even, than when I learned of your death... or of your guilt.

i... i couldnt do that! you never did anything wrong, even though my neighbour told me that this is all because of the professor and that he wasnt ever actually caught and besides, i dont want you to get hurt or worse, accused of something you didnt do and then have to deal with that... no! i wont let them go after you!
... He... Naturally, he was caught. What does the Professor have to do with this, or with you for that matter?
Regardless, I am perfectly capable of protecting myself, Mx. Aoibheann. But very well, do as you wish. Perhaps another opportunity for distraction will present itself.

What would you have me say? Do you want me to agree that you are undeserving of pity? Is that what you wish to hear?
If they use you as a ghost story, then your name is what brings them together. If they use you as inspiration for their crimes, then their movements will be all the more predictable, enabling their quick and painless capture.
You've lost your edge, brother. To think I used to relish the challenge of your arguments.

... Pray tell, Klint, what threat does the people of London face that could possibly warrant my protection? The discomfort of seeing you wallow in self-pity?
Yes, it is growing quite old.

... Enough.
Perhaps next time, Anonymous, you might consider facing me directly rather than spew slander about my brother based on your deluded beliefs about me.
Klint is, and was, an honourable man and an excellent role model. He had the resolve to intervene personally when it mattered most, to protect those he loved. Such displays tend to attract the very worst scum of society, and my brother was no exception; he fell prey to a truly dark age in British legal history, yet now, he is slandered as if he were the vilest of villains.
I won't deny the gruesome results of my brother's actions, and neither would he. However, I will not accept any more flagrant and quite frankly despicable attacks on his personal dignity. My brother's most fatal flaw is his failure to realise his own worth, and I refuse to allow guileless people such as you, Anonymous, to take advantage of that.
You may consider this a warning. Anyone who dares raise a hand against him again, now or in the future, will be making an enemy of me.

to the lord of the house,
did you ever consider getting an animal companion? i would say that you already have one squirrelfox companion but i’m sure you’d say something to the affect of “he’s not my companion! he is an annoyance!!” but we all know that that’s a lie. besides that point, if you ever did, what sort of animal would you get?
-A. Spellmeyer
Mx. Spellmeyer,
I dare not say how many times I have begun this response anew, but I will say that my first draft contained words the likes of which would have been foreign even on my brother's tongue. Needless to say, you have not caught me in a good mood.
Regardless, I shall do my utmost to respond to your inquiry with as little sarcasm as I am currently able:
A cat. I would opt for a cat.
As for why, perhaps you could ask me again another time when I am less inclined to throw things.

I understand that this notion must be rather foreign to you, Asogi, but I am in fact quite capable of experiencing multiple emotions at once.
My father used to take me on little trips into the mountains, just the two of us. We'd fish, hunt, and hike until we found somewhere beautiful, and then we would sit and talk or just admire the view. As we hiked back down and I'd complain of my feet, he would push me to go a little longer, just so I knew I could. Then when I lagged behind, he carried me on his shoulders. I'd usually be asleep by the time we got back to camp.

Surely, you don't expect me to believe such a feeble excuse from a man who usually duels with words as skillfully as with a blade. You posted it on your public blog, among several other posts in which you tagged me yourself. In what world would I not have seen it?
Show some spine, for goodness' sake.
If you had the power to actually be the Reaper of the Bailey - I.e. follow your brother around as a ghost/spirit and kill criminals he didn't manage to prosecute successfully - would you? (assuming a world wherein the actual reaper was never a thing)
Anonymous-
The damage that was done to my brother while he bore the weight of the Reaper's crimes may never be mended. I would have continued as I was to spare him, yes, but I would not have become the Reaper. The most I might have done was kill Lord Stronghart, if ever it had occurred to me.
Yours in misty turns,
The Professor

I agree with my brother. However, you have clearly expressed your request, @kazuma-asogi-blog, and I shall deign to respect it. I will arrange a new sword for you before the end of the week.
Does your sword have a name?
Anonymous-
Before it was given to Prosecutor Asogi, yes, it did. I do not know if he has renamed it.
Yours in belonging,
Prosecutor van Zieks

Fact #1: You love your brother. Fact #2: You show your love by throwing stuff at him. Fact #3: I throw stuff at you all the time. Hypothesis: you should be less mad at me for breaking into your house and touching all your stuff, because I am speaking your language of affection.
If throwing things were truly a gesture of my affection, I daresay much of London might have been the subject of my fondness by now.
