I respect neopronouns and even played a bit with them myself back in the day but I also think I need a pronunciation guide for some of them

All the tarp you see are human bodies. How many of those tarp covered bodies didn't make it to see their 18th birthday? How many didn't get to see the 1st birthday of their child? How many didn't get to celebrate retirement? These are human lives being ripped away at an alarming rate.
There should be no reason you can't step outside without seeing a decomposing child, mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, uncle, aunt, brother, sister, friend, or lover.
They had lives and yet they are buried next to the sidewalk? Would you be okay with your loved one being buried next to the sidewalk? No. No you wouldn't.

It's insane how casually the calls to end a genocide, not just the students in Columbia University but pro Palestinian views in general, are labelled as terrorists. The audacity to still publicly support Israel's actions even after the horrific bombings these last months and then turn around to say that the ones who oppose it are violent anti semites is just baffling

So I’m on a trip with my robotics team and there’s only two “girls” (me, an enby, and a cis girl), so we get our own beds in our own room, but the guys are rooming four to a room, but there’s only two beds in each room. Which means that two guys are sleeping on the floor every night.
I’m not joking. They were literally arguing over who’s sleeping on the floor tonight (apparently they plan on rotating).
And I asked them “why don’t you just share a bed?” And they all gave me the same answer:
“No, that’s weird! That’d be gay!”
And I just looked at them and I decided to break the bad news to them
“If lying next to another guy makes you wanna suck dick, you already wanted to suck dick.”
I’ve never seen so many Straight Guys™️ enraged by a single sentence before

Romantic De-prioritization and Aromantic Resonances in History
An Aromantic Spectrum Awareness Week project
🌿 🌿 🌿
“Representation” is a major theme in ace and aro communities, and it’s usually used to mean fictional characters. That’s all well and good, but the emphasis on the power of fictional narratives sometimes leaves me feeling a little empty. While it’s definitely refreshing and empowering to see characters going through the same things I am, sometimes I think… their happy ending isn’t real, it’s because an author decided that they should have one and then created a world in which they could.
I’ve felt most uplifted and empowered by histories of real people living the kind of life I wanted, being able to point to them and say, “See, THEY did it, THEY had the same priorities and feelings I do, and they went on to have the non-romantic life I want and they became important/respected/brilliant/supported/loved anyway.”  With a sense of both that, it was done at different times in the past when mores were different; and not only that, when in some ways it was harder. If they could do it, I can do it too. I felt represented. And I want more of that out there.
Over the course of Aro Week, I’ll be presenting mini-biographies of people who never married, never expressed romantic desire, or otherwise de-prioritized romance in their lives.  I can’t necessarily claim they were definitely aromantic; we can’t know that, and they didn’t name their identities that way.  But they made their way in the world aromantically, and were inspirational and resonant on my own aromantic journey.

Are you constantly wanting to do A Thing but never know how to do The Thing?
Does figuring out where to start a task and knowing what steps need to be taken to complete the task stress you out?
Lemme introduce you to…
goblin.tools
For example, you want to clean your oven.
You simply go to the website and in the “Add new item” box, you type “clean the oven”. You can then also use the lil chillies next to the plus to change the level of breaking-down you’d like. Next, hit the magic wand-looking button to break it down!
Tumblr media
You can check off items as you go, and further break things down if desired!
It works on large tasks such as planning a cross-country trip, writing a book or going on vacation and smaller tasks such as cleaning an oven.
There’s also tools for task time estimation, meal-prep that takes into account dietary constraints, equipment and such, and a braindump compiler.
It’s available as an IOS/Android app for less than a dollar, or a free web app. I can’t hype this up enough, the developers deserve so much love for this.

not really sure if this is the place for this but tjmaxx is running a fundraiser at the register for autism speaks. it's disgusting. i sent an email about it but numbers would help. if you scroll down on the tjmaxx website you can find the "contact us" page and lodge a complaint online, and they even have a number you can call if you want to double up. would love a boost for this to get some help here and let autistic voices be heard!
this is absolutely a place for this! wild coincidence, i was literally at a tj maxx two days ago and noticed that was going on unfortunately, but didn't think to spread the word

i think a lot of you don't want to call schizophrenia or personality disorders or plurality disorders "neurodivergent" because you still demonize them in your heads

saw the tags "I'm already in a hole, I'm not trying to get out of it, I'm trying not to fall any deeper in it" on a post about neurodivergence and you know what? that's it.
that is the reason so many people stagnate. that is the reason so many people feel stuck. because you cannot climb out of a hole when you have to use all your resources (physical, mental, emotional, and otherwise) trying not to fall further in
that doesn't mean you aren't doing anything. keeping yourself from falling deeper is a lot.

I have trouble taking care of my teeth because everything that involves doing that is a sensory nightmare. I decide to do some research to see if there's anything I can do about this. The results?
"How to make your autistic child brush their teeth"
"Autistic Children and Sensory issues relating to tooth brushing"
"How to get your little shit to brush his fucking teeth"
Like, yeah Google, thanks, that really helps. And like, even if I was a child, some of the advice seemed... unhelpful. Like, doing a dance and singing a song while brushing your teeth? Even for a kid, I don't think that would help distract from a sensory experience as intense as brushing your teeth. Like, the extremely intense and unpleasant flavor, the intense feeling of the brush against your teeth scraping across it, even mouthwash has such an intense and disgusting flavor that I have difficulty keeping it in my mouth for more than a few seconds. I wish there was SOMETHING that could be done.
