He wondered how long it would take for him to find someone willing to share his bed. Actually, he thought, maybe he could make a game of it - how many of the young people of the city could he sleep with in the few hours that were left of the day?
It wasn't as if it would be hard to sneak them past his father. His mother hadn't ever been angry at him for it, just it had been nice, occasionally, to have someone who cared, who noticed, who asked.
Gods, he hated this. Maybe he did just need to get very, incredibly, drunk and stop paying attention to things anymore.
to mourn a mother
Theo had only been passing by when he spotted Antaeus, near scowling at the fire before turning and heading towards him. He backtracked a few steps, and curiosity made him linger, leaning lightly against the wall and attempting nonchalance. Pretended he was admiring the view or something like that, so that when dear old Ant finally appeared he could cock his head and shoot him a grin and act like this was all one big coincidence. He’d been angry, lately, and he wasn’t sure what he’d done to incur his dearest-almost-brothers wrath. All he’d done was go about his business as usual, the only real blip on their domestic radar being the death of Ant’s mother. He’d always found her just a little creepy anyway. And she’d never been his biggest fan, either.

to mourn a mother
Antaeus sighed, dropping the prayer onto the temple fire. He wasn't under any delusions that his mother would care, really, for a burnt scrap of paper from the son she'd left behind - frankly, she'd undoubtedly be more concerned about the fact he was in the temple anyway - but it was the only way he had left to communicate with her.
At least it wasn't the fucking castle though, watching Theo and his mother swan around smirking at him. He hated it there now, hated it everywhere except in his room, surrounded by wine and whichever daughter he'd pulled in with him that night.
Sighing again, he murmured a quick prayer and turned to leave.
