"what even is codys story?"

well, codys story is he wants to do what his dad never could. he wants to win the undisputed championship.

specifically, he wants to win it from Roman. why roman specifically? because roman has crossed lines with him. because roman beat him last year, and not in a fair way. he cheated. cody was cheated out of his title. he worked his way up, he worked so hard to get there and it was all stripped away.

then, he has to build himself back up, fight many other people, go through many side stories, but still have the main story in his mind. still have the want to work towards that and get back at roman for taking his moment away, he will have his moment again.

and cody does have his moment again. he wins the rumble, AGAIN, and gets his chance to finish what was started. do what he has always wanted.

and if you don't see that story, I don't know what to tell you. he has worked his ass off and has one of the most compelling stories in the company right now.
