Words cannot describe the emotion I felt playing Disco Elysium when it was time to paint the wall and I looked at the options for phrases to paint and one of them was “I LOVE YOU CUNO”

Like up to that point I considered it sort of a running gag that you can play along with this nasty little twelve year old and let him call you his bitch and boss you around, indulge him bc he’s a kid and you feel for him and (mainly) it’s funny. And the mural could have been a joke as well, you could have painted something like “CUNO IS KING” or “CUNO DOESN’T GIVE A FUCK” or whatever. But no.

The amount of time and effort that it took for me to get everything I needed to paint the wall, the fun and absurdity of derailing the whole investigation to paint a random mural just bc I felt like it, then getting hit with that option… and finally the mental image of myself taking hours out of my day to slowly and painstakingly paint “I LOVE YOU CUNO” in giant red letters just bc I was so overwhelmed by the feeling and the need to express it. I legit almost burst into tears. It made me wanna write it on every wall in Martinaise.

“TRUE LOVE IS POSSIBLE ONLY IN THE NEXT WORLD— FOR NEW PEOPLE. IT IS TOO LATE FOR US” vs “I LOVE YOU CUNO.” Something something, we pave the way for that new world by loving the children as best we can, even if it’s too late for us to love them the truest way they deserve.

c!Puffy and c!Connor arriving on the same day. idk there's something there. the different paths they took. one always on the outskirts but always there. one that got tangled up. who went too deep. one who watched everything fall. one who was swallowed up. arriving into a fresh wound. but arriving into an air of hope. strangers in a new world. seeing a tender wound. but seeing a gentle healing. oh how they would see that wound infect. how they would be fused into it as it tried to heal. arriving at the end. but it was only the beginning. c!Niki and c!Jack coming into a summer haze, young and fresh, a world new and unhurt. c!Connor and c!Puffy coming into a settling dust, tears and ash, but new lumber and fresh starts (attempts at ones at least). c!Eryn and c!Aimsey entering into a community with rifts as deep as the scars in the earth, tight-lipped silence, but you can taste the pain in the air, it's not fair, that in just being here it seeps into your bones, a wasteland still haunted and it will swallow you whole. new additions throughout the stages of the dsmp. thinking about them. the many ways in which this community fractured and fell apart but could never quite heal. haunting themselves and each other. i believe post-canon they learn to stop being ghosts. sorry to all that got sucked in along the way. this place will not leave you. but you will move on. you will move on. life still awaits you. haunt what you must but feed the corpses of the past to the flowers that bloom as well. this place hurt you. this place will outgrow its pain. I promise you will too.

you know i always think about the things ctommy kept in his inventory the last day of exile when cdream blew up everything. like im pretty sure when cdream tells him "everything tommy. maybe you should get in the hole" ctommy claims hes dropped everything though in his inventory is like the pictures he had on the wall/some chests in his house. Like im pretty sure he tried to keep the nlm photo (see image)
